Petals diary

Yesterday eve on my last 15 mins of walk I had cramps in my tummy but they did ease somewhat later . I put it down to eating too soon after my meal . Also I ate a big bowl of melon yesterday.

My ankles are somewhat puffy today . Up the water maybe ?

If it's just your hands and feet it's probably a reaction to the unaccustomed walking. You could hold a small ball or piece of wood in your hands to play with while walking to reduce swelling. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and if you walk on concrete or asphalt you may want to wear well-cushioned running shoes to reduce strain on your joints.

Thanks LaMa . I got fitted for my running shoes by a specialist. I will try holding something in my hands while walking .

I hope the swelling goes down. So wonderful you are getting in great exercise even with the hectic schedule. I am experimenting with how giving to others makes you feel really good if you do it in a light, no-strings attached frame of mind. It really does make me feel great - like with practicing gratitude!

Great! Are they comfortable, too? Because then it´s just your feet not being used to that much walking every day. They´ll catch up if you don´t overdo it.

Hi, Petal. I must get some good well-cushioned running/walking shoes & start wearing them before our trip. I have had swelling after all my walking at the weekend & will try LaMa's tip of holding a small ball or whatever & playing with it while I walk to reduce swelling. I had never heard of that. It sure is worth a try Petal.

I used to get swollen hands/fingers a lot while hiking and actually went and bought myself some little spiky silicone... cylinder thingies made just to stimulate blood flow in the hands while you´re walking and they hang down but while they look nice they really don´t do more than a stress ball, a nice stone, a smooth piece of wood, or whatever you like to keep in your hand and play with while walking. You don´t need two, either, changing sides sometimes is enough.

Thanks for all the advice LaMa . My trainers are incredibly comfortable. I think yes in time it will improve and am definitely going to get something to hold in my hands . I noticed the more sweat I get up the worse the swelling .

I feel I am really into the walking now . Feeling benefits like sleeping better , more patience with things at home and people . Feel my thighs and bottom tightening up. Choosing better foods . Will try catch up with all your diaries soon . Last few days have been incredibly hectic. Hope it eases soon

I think daily exercise makes a lot of difference, Petal. I have been feeling much better too & making better choices. I'm off for another walk today, snakes or not (I'm well covered).

Oh have a lovely walk Cate . And mind those snakes

Slept soundly until the alarm went off . That’s a real first for me . I do prefer To wake naturally though but I’ll take it .

Well making up for the sleep yesterday with being awake since 4.30 today . Sod's law !
Didn't have a great day yesterday but managed it well enough . Husband had a bit of a crisis at work so I had to help him out but I did without getting annoyed and I stayed calm . It helped him a lot.
Walked just for 30 mins . And watched a movie with my daughter .
Feel tired now and the day is only starting .
Least it's nearly the weekend .

I hope the walk helps for having a good night's sleep tonight! Hope the weekend will be nice and calm and relaxing!

Thanks I hope so too ladies although have things planned .
Had an ultra busy day yesterday with work . Did a short walk in town after , home and cleaned 2 bathrooms , cooked dinner for later back out and did a 3km walk in 30 mins and by 9 pm I was barely ably to see . Managed 8.5 hours sleep .

That DOES sound very busy. Well done on the sleep!
