One Step at a Time

Nice work on the meal prepping!

It's been a few days so it's time for a bit of an update.

I've been busy. On Monday Jack went to the trainers and settled in great. That morning before he went I did work on cleaning up the pen a bit and I got some fun pics of Jack since he wanted attention and made sure he got it lol. Poor Sam was pretty upset the rest of the day when Jack left though, but yesterday he was already starting to calm down and be find.

Yesterday I spent about 4.5 hours with Sam roughly. Went there in the morning and I'm pretty sure he didn't get much rest that night. But he ended up laying down while I was there and had a bit of a snooze. I worked on cleaning up his pen some and also did a bit more of that in the evening when I went back as well. But this time I barely got sore despite spending a few hours doing this and cleaning up the pen is not easy. Also I've been getting some faint calluses on my hands so it's not really hurting my hands to be shoveling all the manure anymore either.

Finished the evening by going for a walk with Sam and doing some basic work with him and even jogged around a bit with him. Also let him graze since there's green grass at last and I can't wait till everything's green again. So it was rather fun and relaxing evening that Sam seemed to rather enjoy.

This morning I weighed myself again and I'm now down to 207! So it looks like I'm finally back on track with losing weight which is exciting :D

Little side note:
I'm thinking of possibly getting a young horse that I'll train up and sell next year for a bit of a profit. That way I can get more experience working with horses, plus start to get my name out there as a trainer and hopefully eventually train horses for a living. Going to be looking at some young horses tomorrow and it's pretty exciting.

I must´ve missed it: is Jack going to be long? And is Sam alone for the time being or is he with other horses? Great to hear that you weren´t sore after all that work and that your hands are firming up!

The trainer i found for Jack is in the next town over so he's staying with her for the next month/30 days. So ya, Sam is on his own for the time being. There are other horses in the paddocks around him, but he's the only one in his for now. That's one reason why I've spent extra time with him to help him not feel quite as lonely.

Things are sounding really positive Ann--good to hear! I feel sad for Sam that he was missing his buddy--hope he's all adjusted by now. Lovely that you are giving him some extra attention to help him through.
Always nice to see the scale moving in the right direction again! Sounds like your energy's back up too which is great!

Today was pretty productive and fun!

Started off the morning with spending about two hours with Sam, working on his training and also going for a ride. So I got in a bit of a workout there. Had a lot of fun with that and then went out to see a young horse. I'm considering getting a young horse to train up and sell for a bit of a profit later on but it's a wait and see if it's actually going to happen. Hoping to do this to get my name out there as a decent trainer and build a business that way.

Anyway, here are some pics of the cute filly I saw. She's about a year old right now. Tomorrow I get to go see some foals and really looking forward to that! Can't wait to see them.
But ya, got in my exercise today and stayed within my calorie limit so today has been good.

That's exciting to have a good solid plan like to work toward. Nice to hear your positivity continue :)

Oh, things are going so well! Well done on the weight drop - and I love your plans for working towards a career as a trainer. :)

(Ooops! re: the Sam/Jack mix-up! :blush5: I'll scrutinise more carefully next time!)

Went and saw another little filly today which was a lot of fun. There were actually 2 babies I went to see, but it the little filly that stole my heart lol. She's only 10 days old but as cute as a button and super friendly and sweet! Once she realized I wasn't a threat, she just soaked up the attention and loved getting scratches. She'd even back up her butt to me so that I would scratch and rub her butt and back. As soon as i would, her head would go up her tiny little top lip would wiggle and quiver at how good it felt. I'm honestly pretty sure she's going to be the one I'm going to pick cause I just fell in love with her lol.

As for the actual weightloss related part of the day, I worked with Sam and went for an hour long ride. Actually had a bit of a lesson so I learnt some stuff and did more than I might've done on my own. Either way, by the end of the ride, the muscles on the outside of my knees were stiff and when I got off. I had to stretch out my legs a little and then they didn't bother me anymore, but I can tell that, that ride worked my leg muscles and even my back muscles even more than usual. I'm not surprised if I wake up tomorrow a bit sore lol.

Also, I've come to realize that due to having extra fat on my legs and the way my saddle is, I've actually been getting a few bruises forming on the insides of my thighs/knees area. I've had a full on black bruise on the right side of my left knee for about 2 - 3 weeks now and I couldn't figure out where I'd gotten it from. But today, I realized I was getting another bruise on the inside of my right thigh and I put it together that my saddle is bruising me. Thankfully they don't hurt, not even a little bit.

And to wrap up todays update, here's a pick of Sam all sweaty after our ride and a few pics of the very adorable little filly.

Oh wow i can see why you fell in love Ann! So sweet! How long does a young horse stay with its mama before you would take her on?
Have you trained a horse right from the beginning before?
Your pictures and stories of your day so often just make me so happy to read. i love the healthiness of it all!
if you do start training a young horse i will be sure interested to hear all the progress on that.

Baby animals are always cute but Sam is looking very handsome as well after his athletic performance.

I'm glad you guys liked the pics, kinda figured you'd like them. Especially since baby animals in general are pretty cute lol.

@liza
A foal will generally stay with their mom till they're 4 - 6 months old at which point they'll be weaned from them. At that point, the foal is considered a weanling until they reach a year of age.
And yes, I've worked with a 6 month old foal before and it's a lot of fun :) I'm glad you're injoying the updates and that I can bring you some joy from it. I love being with horses and if I can share that with someone else, it makes even better.
Also, no worries. If I get that foal, I'll definitely be adding her into my updates as well lol. She's too cute not to xD

So today has been a roller coaster of emotions. Weighed myself and I'm back to 212 and I'm honestly not sure why or if I just picked the wrong time/day to weigh myself. But that's frustrating to see it there again.

Then went to spend time with Sam this morning. Just wanted to do something relaxing so we just walked around and I let him graze. We spent a good hour to hour an a half just doing that. Was a very nice way to start the day.

After that, started to pay the deck for my grandparents and about half way through, I stopped for a bit since my mom and her boyfriend stopped by. Just before they were about to head off again though, my grandma went downhill and needed to go to the hospital. Her knee was bothering her (she had a second surgery on it recently) and her kidney area was also hurting. She was in tears from pain and I had to help my grandpa get her into the car. Her health has been going down for a while and pretty much everyone is pretty sure that she's not going to make it beyond this year.
It's pretty hard to see her like this, especially since I lost my other grandma in November. Anyway, so this grandma is back home now for the night but she's still in really bad shape. Hospital was super busy apparently so she wanted the quiet of being home instead of that or something. So I've no idea what's all going on. But I'm going to check in on her in the morning and see how she's doing.

And because of this, I was a little too emotionally drained to work with Sam or do any other excersize other than the slow walk from this morning so I've just had supper and plan to go to bed soon. So ya, it's been a very draining day with a few good parts in it too.

Hopefully this next week is better. Both that my grandma does better and I manage to lose weight. Right now I'm feeling kinda down about some of this stuff, but I'm sure after a good nights sleep I'll feel better.

And a few pics. One of Sam from this morning, two of Monster begging for attention (I swear she wasn't actually grumpy, just wanting some loving lol), and last but not least, Sheba the great Pyrenees cross pooch. The cat and dog were interruptions during my painting time and I love the timing of the pics I got of Monster xD.
