Today has been pretty good. Spent a good chunk of the morning and evening with the new filly. Thinking I might name her Cinder unless I find another name I like more. Anyway, I did manage to touch her a little this evening and that was pretty exciting! But I have already noticed that I'm going to have to be careful how I go about things with training her to a certain degree as she's already wanting to try to test me a little. Example being, after the second time I touched her and took a step away to take the pressure off so she gets to relax, well she decided she wanted to pin her ears and turn her butt to me. I ended up having to chase her off to show that aggressive behavior like that isn't going to be allowed and after that, she never tried to pin her ears again lol. I was able to go and touch her again after that, but she definitely took me more seriously after that.
Also spent time with Sam. Got a bit more exercise there since I took him for a walk around the farm. When I first went into his pen, I was super pleased with his response since the moment he saw me, he called out in a loud whinny and literally ran over to me. Felt amazing to know that he wants to be with me so much that he stopped what he was doing and came for me. As for the walk, he was spooked by a lot of things but we worked through it. At the end, I let him loose in the field but he remained glued to my side. So we spent some time walking and running around the field together. He basically was my giant shadow since everywhere I went, he followed. I want to try to record it sometime and show you guys a little video of some of this stuff since it's one thing to read it, but another thing to actually see.
But ya, I definitely got a decent walk and even a bit of a jog in when working with Sam.
So ya, that's about it for today. Of course, here are some pics of the filly and a pic of Sam out in the field which is actually the view I have when I step out of my front door.
Oh! And if you have any suggestions for names for the new filly, feel free to share them
