On my way to 63kgs

Thank you both :)
Well the weather has finally got much colder and I've just realized that I have absolutely nothing to wear that doesn't fall off me or look ridiculously baggy. I'm one of those people that attract dirt so invariable need to change clothes at least once a day so need to have a lot of clothes. Money isn't great at the moment so I think I will go and scour the charity shops and see if I can find any trousers and then go out and buy a few tops in the shops.
I've got loads of people that want to exercise with me this winter and they were asking if we could all get together at my house once a week and have weighing sessions and chat about what works for us. So far there are 10 of us and it will probably snowball from there. Weight watchers is 11 euros a week and I have learnt most of what there is to learn there so basically it's paying just to be weighed.
I might suggest that everytime we get together we save the 11 euros somewhere and then treat ourselves to a spa weekend or go and buy a nice dress each at the end of the winter.
My daughter has put on a bit of the weight that she lost because of her summer social life so also wants to get right back to healthy eating so hopefully with all the support round me I'll start to lose weight again this winter. Just 2 more weeks until they all start to finish work and then I can get right back into exercising on a more regular basis. :)

That sounds like so much fun! I love living in the country, but the bad part about it is that there aren't many people around to get together with to do stuff like that. I can't wait to hear all about it!

Really sorry to hear about your cat Ecky, but far better that she not be in pain anymore :(

I think the support group sounds like a great idea and putting aside the cash for a treat at a later stage is a winner - you could even every now and then get a personal trainer to come and take a session if you feel the exercising needs a shakeup - 10 x 11 euros a week is a fair bit to play with!

That's a good idea about the personal trainer. I just remembered that a woman that used to live a couple of doors away is a personal trainer and is also a lot of fun and knows most of us. I'm sure she'd come and give us a couple of sessions. Nobody is finishing work until the 25th now, I thought it was going to be earlier.

It sounds so much fun! I'd love to have a group of friends to lose weight with but my friends are all skinny:rolleyes:
I love the idea of using your 11 euros for something nice, I think that after a winter of hard working you'll enjoy your treat very much! I might actually steal the idea ;)

Hey Ecky!! Thanks for your ever ready wisdom! =) Hope you are doing fine. I like the idea of the group of friends getting together and exercising...sounds like a great support network. And I think you will be a great inspiration for your daughter so keep it up! =) Take care!

aww its a shame when you have a great idea and then can't do it for a few weeks! How frustrating! Nevermind, the time will come around quickly - looking forward to hearing how the support group goes!!

Hello Ecky. I've seen you in a few of the journals I've popped in on, figured I'd stop over and say hello!:waving:

sorry about losing your dear furry friend. I love my little doggies to pieces and hope that day isn't coming any time soon... losing a friend is never easy. :hug2:

Hi, nice to see you here. :waving: I've read some of your old journal and I love your sense of humour. I think you'll liven things up around here:D

Had a nice surprise yesterday. My sister said to book another weekend away before all the hotels close for the season and she will come and look after Dad for me.:) Last time I got really de-stressed and then the day after I got back was when the cat got injured and had a stressful week so could do with another break. We've found a nice little hotel on the west of the island in Cala Millor where I have never actually been. Only 54 pounds for 2 people,2 nights half board. Scary 2 buffet breakfasts and 2 buffet dinners. If anybody wants to come to Mallorca slightly out of season look at the Thomsons last minute deals. You can get amazing prices if you leave it until a couple of weeks before.
Thank you all for your replies, off to check some of your diaries now. :)

Be careful what you wish for...:smilielol5:
LOL, Should I be scared???? Check out Flumes's diary. You and him should get on great. We're mostly women here so he'll enjoy having an ally.

Forgot to say what happened yesterday. I got some new clothes and my sister and neice came round and did a double take as they thought I looked really slim. I felt great and then a couple of hours later I was adjusting my belt in front of my friends little girl who looked up at me and said "Val you need to exercise more you're belly is all wobbly" Nothing like deflating my ego!!!!!

Ah yes, children. *rolls eyes* Remember being called "fatty" by a 5 year old before I started my diet. Children are EVIL! But, they have tiny, undeveloped brains so we mustn't take too much notice ;)

Oh no! LOL! Don't take it too hard dearie - just remember how very far you've come! You have done SUCH an amazing job!

Hi Eycky!

Had to pop in and say hi! But I see you changed your nickname! Almost thought you was someone else. But you'll always be Eycky to me! :beating:

Firstly, its great to see you are doing well. Still as determined as ever huh? Good for you.

And was sad to read about your poor cat. How awful. We've lost 1 dog, a chicken, two hamsters, a couple of birds, and about a half dozen fish since we had kids....and I thought I was a toughie until I see tears swell in the kids eyes. Hugs to you. :hug2:

I read back to your weekend getaway and it sounds like you had a marvelous time. Hubby's happy too I hope!

I'll pop in again soon....missed ya and am looking forward to getting back here more regularly.

Take care!

Great to see you back Flumsey and looking forward to you popping in more often.
Had a weird day eating yesterday as I couldn't seem to stop picking. It was just small amounts so I don't suppose the calories were too excessive but I didn't like the feeling of being a bit out of control. Other than fruit I rarely eat anything between meals now.
I was talking to somebody yesterday that had lost a lot of weight, kept it off for 6 years and then after that put it all back on and more, in less than a year. That really frightened me. He said that he didn't even really notice the first couple of stone going on. It's sort of like being an alcoholic, you can never get complacent about it.
His Dr. told him that he should have continued weighing himself on a regular basis and as soon as the scales started to creep up then he should have taken action. Looks like we are going to be using this support group for a long time yet which I'm glad about as I'd wouldn't want to leave just because I had got to goal weight
Have a great weekend everyone :)

Interesting Ecky - I think I'll always need to be checking the scales every now and then (like once a week or so) because it feels like my comfort zone for moving up or down is around 5lbs - I'd get a real shock if I'd jumped up beyond that and get a move on again. I NEVER want to be heavier than I am now again. And if I keep that attitude and "reset" the boundary when I lose some more weight, hopefully I'll stick with it. My friend lost 3 stone for her wedding to get down to a size 14 (so not super skinny or anythign), looked fantastic and has now put a stone back on again a year later...its such a shame after all the hard effort she put in.

You are right about what you said in Lisa's thread about we've all been slacking a bit towards the end of the summer - I think its a combo of spending the spring getting ready for wearing less clothes, then getting a bit of a tan and feeling a lot happier with how we look and then bulking up for winter!!! So time to get serious again now!

5lb was exactly the figure that the Dr gave him. He said that you can fluctuate by a couple of pounds but once 5 lbs have gone on then that is weight gain that needs dealing with.

5 lbs sure doesn't seem very much. I can jump up that much in a day if it's around that TOM and if I've eaten a lot of salty foods and am retaining water. But it drops just that fast as well.

I can't imagine going back to the way I was because I'll never eat like that again. I think I've done the healthy eating thing for long enough now that it's just become a habit for me already. And I don't think I could go back to sitting in front of the TV in all my spare time. I can't picture myself not running any more. I would miss it too much I think.

5lb doesn't sound much but he's a man so has no monthly excuse. It makes sense though as 5lb shouldn't be difficult to drop but once that doubles or triples then you start to have problems.

Yeah., that for me is a bit of a big fluctuation - maybe if for one day I went up by that much, ok, but for a week or so, then I'd take notice..and do something. Like you say, easy step from 5 to 7 or 10 lbs and then you are putting on considerable weight. I'd expect that over a holiday but then knuckle down again when I got back home.
