Omega's journey

I'm so pleased that you have decided to join the new challenge... With luck - a lot of people will lose a lot of weight.

Hey Omega - how is not eating chocolate going?
I am still hanging there - I haven't cheated - I came close to it though....8 more days to go!!! I can't wait! I really miss my dark chocolate!!! I don't think I will give it up again! I might give up chocolate under 60% cacao content next time.

I'm still not having any... Mind you - I'm going through quite a lot of sugar free butterscotch at the minute so there is a definite substitution thing going on there!!! Check my recent food logs and you will see what I mean... I most certainly couldnt give them both up at the same time...

Well done for still managing it! Easter Sunday should be the ideal opportunity for us to enjoy it again... We'll just have to try to not have too much...

Take it from the biggest chocoholic, you can beat that chocie graving. I've been without ANY chocolate for 12 weeks now. If you had to ask me before 1 Jan 13 will I ever be able to give up chocolates my answer would have been Hell no!! And look now!! I do crave it now and again but not too much surprisingly!!!

You can do it!!

I saw the new challenge. I'm a little torn about joining it though. I don't necessarily want to put pressure on myself about losing weight, but I already do most of the things that get points and in the maximum amounts too.

Cory- I have been waiting to see if someone mentioned the pressure. I cannot do challenges because I end up gaining weight because of the pressure. Cannot go on a weight loss plan or exercise plan with a friend, etc. Somehow, if someone else gets 1 lb ahead of me I deflate. LOL

I too have beat my chocolate craving, but can't seem to do it with coffee. I get up in the morning and head straight for the coffee pot. Maybe that's because I have cut out the caffiene that's in the chocolate so I need it from the coffee. I tried Omega's system of drinking a certain amount of water before I have coffee, but that early in the morning I have no thought but that first cup of coffee. Then one leads to another.

I want to share a really funny story. I have used skim milk most of my adult life but had a really hard time getting my husband to switch. It took about a year, going lower fat gradually. Now he uses skim milk all the time. A couple days ago he went to the store to get milk and he went to a different store that did not carry the brand of milk we usually use. He brought home the different brand, but he kept saying it didn't taste right. He said it smells ok, but it tastes odd. I hope I don't get sick. This morning, when he took it out to use in his coffee, he noticed that it was whole milk! Somehow he grabbed the wrong thing, and he absolutely hates the taste of it! I only use milk on cereal and I haven't had any cereal in the past few days, or I would have noticed it right away. I feel that it's such a victory that it didn't make him want to switch back to whole milk.

Omega, I realize that this post doesn't belong in your diary, so if you want to move it to the proper place that's OK with me. LOL I don't want to upset your system! LOL

CHOCOLATE - IT'SS BEEN 6 WEEKS!! :hurray::hurray:
Mands - kudos to you!!!12 weeks!
Well done us!! Few more days to go!!

I don't think I want to give up choco forever - good quality-high cacao content chocolate is good for you in small quantities!

OMEGA: Yes, I am worried I might go overboard this Easter - once it's available for me again. I have to be careful I already bougt babka (chocolate) - so I ll have a slice or 2 for breakfast (i have the whole day to work it off) & I bought some milka eggs (4)
& I am not planning to bake anything. I don't want to ruin the results on the scale (after 2 weeks it's finally moving downward! yay! about time!)

Omega, I wish you success on your chocolate free life. :p It's so hard to give up things we love, even though we know that we really don't need them.

Omega, I realize you are so busy now that you are Moderator, but I really miss reading your updates on your weight journey. I hope you are still doing well and are still staying away from your chocolate. It has been a very long time since I've had chocolate because I just quit buying it and bringing it into the house. In the back of my mind I know there is a bag or chocolate morsels used for cookies in my pantry, but I'm pretending I don't know they are there. LOL

I just wrote a really long catch up posting and then the computer locked and lost it!!! :willy_nilly::toetap05::banghead::cuss::mad::eek:

I am therefore going to catch up with a whole heap of little postings...

Firstly - thanks to everyone for visiting...

I am still not eating chocolate - although I am pretty sure that I will have some tomorrow... We have been asked for a meal to the home of an Italian friend for a meal... I am fully expecting there to be chocolate dessert.

I have been having too much sugar free butterscotch - but addressed that at the start of the week - when I stopped buying it...

It has been a tough couple of weeks because - first of all I broke a tooth and lost about a quarter of the visible part of a tooth. I got an ulcer on my tongue and it was over three days before I got a temporary filling... I need a crown to be made - and the work will start on that next week.

On Monday we had a drains problem and the kitchen flooded... It will take weeks to dry out...

When I get stressed I am inclined to nibble - but at least I have been nibbling healthy food... Too much of it - but it is healthy... On a couple of days - when I put cereal out for Rod I had a little nibble of it... Not good!

My weight today was 10st9.2 or 149.2 pounds...

I am still 23.2 pounds above my goal weight - but it is strange... The new weight is all on my tummy... My boobs are about the same large size that they were at goal... I am quite boney around my neckline... Even though I am still officially overweight - I do not really look overweight...

I am still doing a lot of zumba and salsa.

Here are a couple of action pictures of me taken at speed during salsa dancing at salsa parties... The first was actually an insanely fast and mad dance with a professional dancer...

It is really strange the way that my body has changed as I was just comparing my figure with the figure that I had at 147 pounds in my big project...
It is on page 124 of this diary
http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/15690-Omega-s-journey/page124

- but I copied it so that I can include it here for easy comparison

I definitely think that I look thinner now - even though I am 2.2 pounds heavier...

The only difference can be the muscle that I have added - as I am even wearing comparable clothes (jeans and a black top) in the second dance photo.

Goal2Bhealthy - it is great that your husband has been changed his tastes regarding milk. There are actually a load of really good tasting lower calorie options available - and I actually think that it is apathy more than anything that stops more people making basic switches... People feel that the alternatives will not taste as good so they do not try them and are anticipating not liking them so claim not to...

I even preferred the low calorie soft drinks to the high calorie stuff when I was big (heaven knows how big I would have been if I had drank the high calorie stuff).

I love Total 0% Greek yoghurt. It is actually amazingly creamy... For me it is as creamy as thick cream.

Rod has been going great with the exercise recently - going to zumba and salsa as often as me and (while not jumping around as much as me) burning a ton of calories. His food control has not been too great though - which is why is weight is up from his low weight of a year ago... He has managed to get back off the chocolate though - so really the biggest thing is if he can stop eating crisps... They speak to him and beckon him to eat. He is currently trying to cut down to one big bag of crisps a day... If he can conquer the crisps he will make some great progress...

His exercise levels mean that he is a ton healthier than when he was big. In the photo of us dancing together - he looks pretty good...

Well done for stopping buying the chocolate. As I said in an earlier posting - I have started doing the same with sugar free butterscotch.

I eat a lot of fruit - but I actually was eating a lot more last year when gaining weight... I was buying boxes of fruit at a really good price at the wholesalers... I was buying fruit at an amazingly good price... Maybe twice the price of a small bag...

My "I'm full" signals do not seem to work like other people's... If I buy a bag of 4 pears - I will tend to eat 4 pears... My problem is - that if I buy a box of 30 pears I am apt to eat a lot more than 4 pears...

I stopped buying boxes of fruit... My fruit consumption reduced immediately. It is high in other people's terms - but a lot less than it was...

Mands - you have done brilliantly to keep off the chocolate so well - and indeed get such amazing weight loss.

Justina - I think that we both did brilliantly to stay off chocolate all the way to Easter. If only chocolate was the only area where I sometimes eat unwisely!!!

Cory - thanks for your support. If only I only ever ate after applying logic - my life would be so much easier...

Overtherainbow - thanks for visiting. Seeing my diary pop into the recent diaries section after your visit prompted me to update. I must admit that I tend to make the main of my postings about me in the challenges section - so people on the same challenges as me tend to hear more about what is going on in my life...
