Omega's journey

You're on fire Margaret!!! 2 hours of Zumba? WOWSERS!! Well over half way, well over half way, Cate does a happy dance for Margaret. BTW we need a happy dance smilie xoxo Cate

Thanks Cate :)

I think that  is the nearest we have to a happy dance round here...

If you know of a really good smilie on another forum - I am more than happy to suggest it to Sean. The worst that he can do is say no - but if we are lucky he might say yes...

Last week was a pretty insane week for exercise - but this week is imposed as being quieter because of the bank holiday yesterday.

Last weeks exercise (LOL in addition to walking)...

Monday - 2 hrs zumba
Tuesday - 3 salsa classes plus social dancing
Wednesday - 1 hr zumba
Thursday - 2 hrs zumba + 1 salsa class + 1 rueda class
Friday - 1 hr zumba + 1 salsa class + 1 rueda class + social salsa dancing
Saturday - 1 hr zumba + 1 hr salsa private lesson
Sunday - my normal day of rest with just walking...

I ended up knowing about other salsa parties every day of the weekend and having no time or energy to go...

Life is much quieter this week...
Monday - the gym was closed due to the bank holiday and no classes were held
There will be other classes not on later in the week as Xris has been inspired by the holiday and gone away to have a tomato fight... Some classes are on and some are not on...

Salsa is on tonight... :hurray:

Thanks - dance has turned into my biggest form of exercise.

Last Tuesday was brilliant... I'm looking forward to tonight's salsa.

Dancing sounds 10x more fun than the elliptical. I used to take an Afro Cuban dance class & it was so much fun and a great workout. I think you've inspired me to search for something similar again. I'll make that a goal for September, taking a new dance class.

Bellyoff - I am sure that I prefer dance compared to the elliptical or any of the other machines.

Your Afro-cuban dance sounds good fun and a brilliant workout.

I did two rueda classes last week. Rueda is a cuban salsa barn dance... We change partners or dance with the current partners in different ways depending on how the dance is called...

I did a reggaeton class a couple of weeks ago which was a brilliant workout too...

I'm really pleased that you are inspired.

I honestly think that finding exercise that you enjoy and want to do really helps.

Oh I absolutely agree about finding workouts you enjoy. Otherwise, they are quick to go by the wayside. I really love hiking and backpacking and trail running. It's 100+ degrees here everyday and I'm hiding in the gym until things cool down. I haven't been creative in finding things to do indoors though and am so happy you mentioned dancing!

I envy your dancing. You just can't get enough by the sounds of it :D

Here are some good ones

I wish it were hot here... England rarely gets weather as hot as I would like.

I certainly cannot get enough of dancing.

Done a bit more dance exercise since I last posted - its still a quiet week though...
Tuesday - 3 salsa classes plus social salsa dancing
Wednesday - 1 hr zumba
Thursday - 1 hr zumba

Here is a step walk through that I did last week... It is salsa steps done slowly with the description of what we are doing instead of music.

You should come to KY then, Omega. It's been in the 90s all week long (says it's 91 right now but the "feels like" is 103!). Makes outdoor walking downright miserable. Even my poor dog doesn't want to go outside.

I could really do with some hot weather. I would be fine with that.

I was perfectly ok with August weather on Rhodes when we lived there...

We were out with friends tonight and we were just saying that we would have to wait until next summer before we go to a certain restaurant because it is nice to sit outside there... Its a shame when you are saying that when it is still August...

I've just done 2 hours of zumba too. :)

The teacher is regularly late - so the 4:45pm class never starts until 4:55pm (so it ends at 5:55pm)... Then we get a 5 minute opportunity to go to the toilet before the 6pm class starts on time...

I recommend lots of water... Also - I try to remember to take my fan (traditional hand held - like used in olden days)... I dont get much opportunity to use it between tracks - just a mouthful of water - but very useful at the end and the half way point...

I'll admit that I'm shattered by the end... LOL most people just do 1 hour - but another regular salsa dancer also does double zumba... LOL at the half way point today we muttered to each other on the way to the toilet that we must be mad...

The other thing that can help is if you change t-shirt at the half way point... we sometimes do that too (as does the instructor)...

The person who does the "double zumba" should call it a "zumba zumba" instead.

It is really nice when you have that kind of strenuous exercise that you nonetheless enjoy and look forward to. Makes things so much easier.

Hi Omega! I realized that I haven't been in here for a bit. I voted for your salsa/zumba classes. I bet they will wonder what burrow my American town name belongs in.

Very nice work going on Omega! Keep dancing!

Thanks for visiting and voting Quercus.

LOL I don't think that your location will be totally unique. Chris's sister was among the first on FB to post that she had voted and she lives in Dallas... LOL so many people travel these days that I am sure that everyone will be getting votes from all over.

I certainly am still dancing... I've done an hour of zumba today and have 2 salsa classes tonight.

It would be great if Chris got greater recognition as he is so enthusiastic about dance that it really is infectious.

Thanks for your visit too Mr Vee. Only single zumba today - so I guess that we should call today zumba salsa salsa then... I am currently morphing from zumbrera to salsera.

Hi Margaret, you really have inspired me to have another go at Zumba. If I can leave any ego I have at the door & not try to keep up with the mostly 30'ish(in years) participants I'm sure I would love it. My ex DIL was at the classes before & that was also a bit offputting as I always wanted to keep up with her :blush5: Just because I'm 60, doesn't mean that I want to appear OLD! It looks like so much fun. I just voted btw. My computer has been incredibly slow & I couldn't get a look at the video before. Cheers, xo Cate
