Omega's journey

I'm looking forward to 10th August...

We've bought tickets for August SalSabado... There will be a Reggaeton class given by Leandro Charanga... that should be fun...
I've found this on you tube...

LOL I swear that a night dancing following his lead should be a great workout and a lot more fun than a trip to a gym...

My friend who organises dance events put a comment on Saturdays SalSabado on my FB page (among others) and I replied
"We thoroughly enjoyed SalSabado and are looking forward to next month's on 10th August. Thanks for arranging such good events xxx"
and Leandro Charanga clicked "like" on my comment...

I'll be intrigued to see how he dances to other genres of music... I'll bet he's good...

Thanks for visiting Nostalgic...

My weight story is one of the longest and most complicated ones on the forum - and this diary gets abandoned all the time...

A quick catch up follows:

I had a dramatic weight gain in my 20s and spent the next 20 years as a very big person.

Joined the forum in 2007 and at age 47 managed to half my bodyweight in the next 13 months taking my weight down to 147.

I then spent the next 13 months taking my weight down to 126 pounds that I set as goal...

People told me at the time that I was losing too much weight - but I didnt really feel comfortable at any weight...

I picked 126 as a fairly arbitrary number (9 stone) and agreed to stop there...

I managed to maintain that well for the next couple of years.

I did however begin to understand that I might have dropped too much weight...
I am not built like a normal person of my height and weight because I carry a lot of loose skin.
I have had a lot of problems with feeling the cold and also the skin on my hands splitting along the fingerprint lines because my doctor thinks that I have dieted away some of the essential oils and fat layer that belongs in skin...

I was examined for the UK Biobank project (which is a UK initiative where a large number of people donate their ongoing medical records to scientific research - and are monitored for this research. The baseline stats are scanned into my album here...

Basically - at 132 pounds my body fat percent was properly calculated by researchers as being 21.7%.

I was told that this was particularly low for a woman of age 50.

2011 and 2012 were really horrible years (very stressful) and I gained a bit of weight...

I really do not know what weight is right for me... I know that I have been lower in the past and can be lower - but do not really know what is best...

I came back to the forum at the start of the year and set my ticker up with my same old goal weight of 126... It was easier than working out anything new at that stage...

I have taken off about half the weight that I had put on - but I am far from certain about how much more weight I should lose...

I am basically addressing things by keeping a high exercise level and eating healthily and seeing how I go... Silly things like which clothes that I like fit me may well be part of the decision process about when to stop. I have been building muscle so I look thinner now than I did at 147 pounds back in 2008...

Ew, you really did a good job losing your weight once again, I didn't know these past years had been so rough to you, I'm sorry for that, I hope you can get better soon!

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted here.

Margaret, your continued determination never ceases to amaze me. My email address is still subscribed to your thread, and very regularly am I reminded of your journey. I always have the intention of actually posting here, but tomorrow never comes.

Coincidentally, I have affirmed with myself to lose a few kg's as well as resume strength training. I have been running semi-regularly over Australia's winter, but the increased in take of take away food and carbohydrates has taken its toll on my now old 24 year old self! :)

I feel returning here, or alternatively AnotherDietForum (I am not too sure of its status), would be in the best interests. Back to basics.

Thank you for the needed inspiration, once again.

Shannon - my good friend - it is great to hear from you again.

WOW - time flies - and you are now 24!!! LOL I sometimes think that I am the only one getting older and all my friends will be in a time warp and just the same as when I last heard from them...

I'll check your diary for you posting what you have been doing...

Its great that you have still been running... It is good to keep up these healthy habits.

We will lose these surplus kg together like we did last time. :grouphug:

I somehow lost your name off my FB friends list a while ago.

ADF still exists but it is very small now. There was a major computer problem a while back and it was down for a while and then had to restart from scratch... The main people that post there now are Kara, Shannon, Amber, Lauren and Di.

I haven't been posting too much there recently - although I do go in from time to time... There really isnt enough hours in the day to hang around forums as much as I would like or post as much as I would like...

Kimberly and Amy (who were good friends of yours) are still on my FB friends list. They are both kept pretty busy with their kids - both have two kids now. They are both doing a brilliant job of making sure that their kids have only ever known what it is like to be a healthy weight.

Kimberly lost her mother a couple of months back... It was just as she had long dreaded - caused by her size... Incredibly sad - but hardly unexpected... A shock for her when it happened just the same... A major reminder for us all that we are sensible to keep an eye on things and not let our weight get the better of us...

If you add me again on FB I can easily put you back in touch with them...

I don't know whether you remember Angel - she was here in the old days and has recently come back... She has got married and had three kids since she was last posting... Time certainly gets by!!!

Benny - thanks for calling by and supporting me.

I've got to share this as I have just found it...

A line-up from July 13th SalSabado - from the social dancing part of the night - a little gentle zumba... :)

I am in the middle of the front line in a knee length black dress with pink flowers (lol and white legs / gold shoes).

It appears that I can embed into a website with the following code - I just have to work out how...

I'll play about with things to see if I can sort it out...

If anyone wants to see it in the meantime - send me a pm and I'll tell you how to find me on FB - I know that some friends have seen it there...

I cannot say that I am managing to lose any weight at the minute... We all have times when it is hard to focus...

The exercise side of things is going brilliantly - but the food side is not restricted enough despite being 100% healthy stuff...

Looking at the past week.

Sat - 1 hr salsa, 1 hr zumba, SalSabado at night which was 1 hr reggaeton class plus social salsa dancing for about 3 hours...
Sun - rest day - exhausted after Sat (this 54 year old has decided that too much body popping makes me feel old the next day)
Mon - 2 hrs zumba - guilt at Sun rest day...
Tues - 3 salsa classes plus over an hour of social salsa dancing
Wed - 1 hr zumba
Thur - 1 hr zumba, 2 salsa classes
Fri - 1 hr zumba

The big news is that my zumba and salsa classes are up for an award in no less than 6 categories and that people can vote for them...

They are brilliant!
Here is an example of what I am talking about:

They are Zumba Boys North East / SalSeduce ran by Chris - and he really makes me work hard...
and the voting is here:

The more people that vote - the bigger the chance that the tv cameras will come to see us in action!!!
Feel free to vote for us :)
