Omega's journey

I wouldnt have said 158 is not small for 5'6 LB, my goal is 155 and thats on the high side according to most measures of height/weight (im heavier anyway)

TLD is a great acronym though, Ive always wanted a name for that!

Thanks for visiting.

Kimberly

Thanks for the congratulations. You know how strategic I am - so it will be no surprise to you that Wednesday night I ate salmon. My early morning weighing has produced a new low - so I will weigh again later after my walk to see if it is lower still (as I normally do). It means that I can report a weightloss for the challenge. I hope that your scales are friendly and you get a weightloss today too - there is every chance that you will as I know that you are being very strict with your calories and doing your exercise.
Edit
Back from my walk - official weight for the day 11st 3.0lbs i.e. 157.0 pounds. Don't you love it when you poo in the morning on a challenge weighing day!

Trevor

I probably spend no more time than anyone else writing things up. I basically have a word document with it all keyed in. I just make a little change as I go along each day. I start out with every line in black and change the colour as each line gets updated. At the end of the day all the data is filled in so I just copy / paste it across and change the colour to black to start again. My food is always very much the same so I just change the colour as I have different things. It is only my main meal that alters or if I want a little snack. I normally just list the food itself - but am listing calorie info this week because of the challenge. I like to get my points.

I know that some people have told me that they get ideas from things that I do. I am not in any way saying that something is right because I do it - just that this is what I do.

Kim and Wishes

I am a lot shorter than you - only 5ft 3ins. I really do have quite a bit of weight still to lose. I have quite a bit of fat all over really and quite a defitinite spare tyre. I will need to have a reasonably low BMI to look right as I know that I have a small frame. Some people have to guess what sized frame they have. Many people have a large or medium sized frame and they would look emaciated at the kind of weight that I should be - just like I would be fat at a weight that is perfect for them. I posted some photos from my youth on page 75 of my diary that show that under the padding I have a small frame - just no-one has been able to tell for well over twenty years. No-one cares whether you are morbidly obese with a small frame or with a large frame!

My target weight is not set in stone - it is just the weight that I felt was right when I was about 20 years old. Some people say that we are ok a little heavier as we get older. Also my boobs are a different shape than they were (consisting of a lot of skin) so that could have an impact. I would like to get back into UK size 12 - at least as far as my lower half goes (as I said my boobs are big). Also - I have yet to know whether I will want surgery - but there is plenty time to consider all that after I get rid of the fat.

I would quite like to be able to wear my wedding ring again. I never had the size altered when I got big because it is patterned and inscribed - and altering the size would have changed it dramatically - taken it's individuality away. I have just tried it on this morning and it now fits onto my little finger. It certainly does not fit on the correct finger yet though. It would be nice to be able to wear it again as I have hardly worn it. I got big suddenly just after we married and within a few months could not get it on. What a soppy romantic I am at times!

Naturally I hope that you both had a happy TLD.

Take care

Oh Omega... I hope you fit into that ring quickly! It never occurred to me that those things also change (as in fingers). My hands are weird, they don't seem to have grown since I was 10 years old (I have the world's smallest hands, to the horror of my patients, because I work in Obs and gynae and when I try to reach for the cervix I need to push my whole hand in.... almost!), and they still have the baby fat. I am not joking, they have those little dimples very small children have on the back of their hands!
And it is not from the extra weigh I carry, because when I was very thin (about 10 years ago) they looked like this too!

Well I hope soon you will be able to wear your wedding ring again (do you wear it arpound your neck, on a necklace now?? That is what I recommend my pregnant patients when their hands start swelling)!

Thanks for visiting.

Camy

I keep my rings in a jewellery box but have not been able to wear any of them since I was in my mid twenties. At first I wore it on a chain - until I got too big for the chain. I just grew and grew. I have got quite used to not wearing it - but it would be nice to be able to wear it again. I am hoping that I might be able to get it on in about a stone's time which is quite soon in terms of my project.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. It is funny to think that this challenge is coming to an end.

Hi Dawn

Thanks for the congratulations. We are back to my skewed weighloss!

Basically last week and this week are my weeks for losing weight for the whole month. It is all very likely to pretty much seize up any day now and I start retaining water. I then spend the best part of the next two weeks drifting slightly up as if on a plateau and then trying to get back down to my pre-TOM low. Any day now - I expect to be struggling to stay this side of 160. That is at least the way that it all pans out most months.

Naturally I am hoping that things may work out a little better with my new food plan which I started with last Wednesday. You never know!

Take care

At that *special* time of the month, this happens to me to Marg. Not only do I seem to retain water and feel somewhat bloated, I'm ten times hungrier and my hunger pangs are five times worse. It takes me about a week to get over it. So for two weeks out of the month, the scale will play tricks on me.

You know what though? At least you have a routine and know *why* the scale will say a certian number, and you can attribute it to the cause.

I like your new food plan, Marg. It certianly looks promising. I say, you'll be further down the better side of 160 by mid March!!

Happy Thursday, hon!! (((big hugs)))

HI

Hitting yet another new low...well done you!

Having a poo on weigh day just makes the day :smilielol5:

Are you wearing the ring on your little finger all the time now or were you just trying it on?
you will have that on your ring finger in time for summer and hopefully your finger wont swell with the warmth like mine does sometimes lol

Take care
Sarah

Thanks Rae

My body just loves playing tricks on me. I keep a track of things like that and the scale goes literally overnight from going nicely down each day to going up! You just know that people look at the weight going up and think "is she having secret cake feasts and not mentioning it in her diary?".

So far the food plan is working out nicely. I really dont mind it being repetitive if it keeps me feeling full and I get enough sweet things in the day. Between all the fruit and the honey shreddies - I probably eat more sweet stuff all day long than anyone else on the forum. The fact that it is "healthy" is beside the point.

I hope that your Thursday is going really well.

Hi Sarah

Thanks for visiting.

I have to admit that managing to get a weighing at absolute empty on the morning of a challenge weigh day - before eating or drinking and after walking over 6 miles was perfect.

The ring is back in the jewellery box now - but I will keep trying it on every few pounds just to see because it is really starting to look hopeful. It would be nice to be able to start wearing it again by the summer.

Take care

Don't you love it when you poo in the morning on a challenge weighing day!
LOL :D Yes!!!

Congratulations on the wedding ring. How amazingly satisfying it will be when you get it back on the right finger!

CONGRATS ON 157!!!!!!!!!!!

You are having an excellent week for weight loss!! I'm sure you will be me out in the challenge, as I'll be lucky to post any loss at all. :)

That's great that you can get your ring on your pinky. I'm sure the ring finger will follow soon enough. I had the opposite problem--I couldn't get my ring off! It stayed on for about 3yrs straight until last fall, I finally got it off. I haven't put it back on..lol. I still have a slight indentation where it used to be. People who don't know me probably think I recently got divorced or something...lol.

Ha! I, too, am hoping for a lot of bathroom action tomorrow morning. :D

You just know that people look at the weight going up and think "is she having secret cake feasts and not mentioning it in her diary?".

Well, if they are daily weighers like we are, they know how our weights fluctuate from day to day, so they won't think that at all. I know I never have. And even if they aren't daily weighers, one of the reasons they aren't is b/c they know how weight fluctuates, and don't like to see them. So I'm sure no one thinks you're having secret cake binges..lol.

Well done with your challenge calorie range this week. :cheers2:

Tell me about it, Marg. I HATE stepping on the scale. If I can physically see the changes, that's all that matters to me. In my opinon, the scale is a mechanism designed to provoke us to anger. And considering thou shalt not, I stay away from it. Haha

I'm like this too. As long as my body is getting sweets, no matter where it's coming from, it's tricked into believing it's processed sugar. I can really feel the kick from fructose. It's as if I have a whole new appreciate for FRESH fruit. It really is Nature's Candy.

My Thursday did go well, thank you!! I hope you found yours just as pleasent as I found mine!!

Much love you to, Marg!! ((big hugs))

Thanks for visiting. I hope that everyone is having a great day.

Angel

Thanks. I love great weigh-ins. I hope that we all have a great weigh-in today (Friday).

Felici

I am going to keep trying my ring on about every quarter stone now. It will be nice to be able to wear it again.

Kimberly

Thanks. I am very pleased with how my weight loss has gone this week. I was apprehensive about doing it - but I am pleased that I changed my food plan. I always knew that my calories devoted to raisins was excessive - but when I felt happy with my rate of weight loss I was willing to put up with it. My skewed rate of weight loss meant that it was not so obvious how badly things were going until I realised what poor weight loss I had firstly over January and secondly over the duration of the Newbride Valentines Day challenge. It was when I was pondering that whole situation that I began to blame it on the raisins and knew that I had to do something about it. I would have counted my calories for the best part of the week anyway. Now that it is Friday I am stopping counting my calories now though! I think that I have done enough! The good thing about a very repetitive diet is that I can not count and still get a pretty healthy diet that is close to a calorie target.

As far as wedding rings go - I would not be surprised if some people have wondered if we really were married. Neither of us have worn rings since not long after the wedding (his was inscribed too!) and he put on weight not long after I put on weight to "keep me company". It was much easier for him to put on weight than for me to take it off.

Bathroom action is wonderful - and I hope that it works out for you. It is so much in tha lap of the Gods that you really feel fortunate when it happens before you eat or drink on a challenge weighing morning. I sometimes think that I try to take advantage of every loophole when weighing - but at the end of the day - if I can get on the scale 3 times and it settles on the exact same weight (including decimal place) - I take it. Even if I think that it flatters my real weight loss. I strongly suspect that we would all do the same!

I must admit that I am quite pleased about how the challenge calorie range thing panned out for me. I probably did more sums up front than most people to see whether I thought that it was set about right. Someone that counts calories all the time just probably thought of an approximate day's calories and multiplied by 7. Clearly Wulsk and TheKrinse live normally on very few calories - since they had to bump things up. It is no surprise that the same goes for Tammy. Maybe this is why TheKrinse and Wulsk generally get such good weight loss. I have to say that it doesnt tempt me to move my calories down any though!

The funny thing was that I had to multiply up the calories for my evening meal last night - before the day was over (I have sometimes worked out the veg calories the next morning because it varies when you see how much you chop up) because there was actually a risk that I would have fallen off the lower end of the calorie range. I wanted to be able to eat a handful of honey shreddies if that was a danger. I love nibbling them and never have trouble having a handful on a plate when watching television or on the forum - it is like eating crisps for other people. Although I had less than the 1620 that was the base figure (that I multiplied for the minimum) it was within the remaining range (because I had eaten slightly above average over the rest of the week).

For someone that kicks against calorie counting so much - I actually used to be quite good at getting my calories right the vast majority of the time. My problem is that I tend towards being a perfectionist with whatever has my prime focus. I have rediculously high expectations of myself. I could get it right lots of times - it didnt stop me hitting absolute despair if I got it wrong. It's a definite flaw in my character. I am pleased to be able to stop counting them now (until the next time you make me do it!).

Rae

I do not like seeing my weight go up - but I have come to terms with the fact that I have to weigh myself every day for the rest of my life. I could put on quite a lot of weight before I see a change in my appearance. I have found that the best way to stay sane is to weigh every day and develop an understanding of what fluctuations I am likely to see.

There is a lot to be said for healthy sweet things. I am sure that it stops me craving a lot of more fattening sweet things too. A lot of people dont seem to go in for too much in the way of fruit and cereal and then wonder why they cannot resist the high calorie sweet temptation.

Hi Angel

Thanks!

I certainly have been fortunate in getting a new low for the challenge 11st 2.8 lbs i.e. 156.8 pounds. We are both heading for that 11 stone milestone. You will get there first as my weight is due to start increasing again any day now!

I am certainly happy about not counting calories. In all honesty - I eat in such a repetitive way that I do not think my calories will go up much. Most people benefit from counting calories - but I always feel more vulnerable.

Take care
