Omega's journey

Hi

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hope your weight loss journey in 2008 is as sucessful as 2007 (as i am sure it will be) and may all your dreams come true

Sarah

Thanks Margaret for the wonderful encouragement! I think I can drop that BMI of mine in 2 months. I am sure going to try. Especially with Kimberly's challenge. I don't want to be kicked off. So I will need to work extra hard!!!! And now that I have the Okay from the doc I can get back into the water again.
For 1/2 a second I was like who's Dawn? LOL And then I realized you were talking to me! hahaha. Only until recently did I let that cat out of the bag. SO everyone always just calls me Bellaryna/Bella. Which is a take off of one of my dd nicknames from when she was younger (like 3). She kept telling me how she wanted to be a Ballerina and how her name is Isabel (pronouced E-Suh-Bell) so she called herself Isabellarina. And of course Bellarina was taken hence the y and i being substituted.
I think that come summer you will be looking maravelous enough for you to be able to swim out in the open. I know exactly how you feel going to the beach and feeling soooo out of place. I am hoping that as this season approaches I will be feeling better about myself. Even with losing the weight I tend to still "see" myself as fat. That is a mental challenge that I need to overcome.
Hope your having a great New Year's Day!!!

 HAPPY HOGMANAY! and on top of that, HAPPY NEW YEAR, MARGARET! hee hee...just had to throw that in for any fellow Scots who may be reading your diary...:smilielol5:

So absolutely thrilled that you have entered the new year as simply "overweight" and no longer obese! My, you have worked hard -- and it has paid off in triplicate! :cheers2:

Best wishes on your continued journey to better health in 2008, my friend.

Blessings,
Janice

Hi Dawn and Janice

Thanks for visiting again.

Dawn

See - I know who you are. You just need to let the cat out of the bag and I will remember. I am like the elephant that never forgets.....

It is funny the names that we think of when we have to acquire a name for a forum like this. You need something fairly unique or someone will have already taken it. If you stick a number after your name you have to try and remember it. Omega was easy for me. It is a christian name used extensively in my family. I am descended from a vast array of Alphas and Omegas. My father had a sister called Alpha Omega. My grandmother had two sisters - a sister Alpha and a sister Omega - not to mention about 6 cousins called Omega. I was the last girl born in my generation of the family and it was the first generation not to have an Omega. I have always felt that I came dangerously close to getting landed with it.

It is funny to think that I was the weight of an adult female heavier than I am now the last time that I went swimming. I have a confused picture of my size. Sometimes I feel really skinny now (and lets face it - I am still carrying a lot of weight when you remember that I am short with a small frame) and sometimes I focus on the rolls of fat that are there for all to see.

Janice

Thanks for your congratulations. I suspect that many Scots will still be celebrating. They tend to make a very big deal out of their new year celebrations. I would like us all to enjoy better health in 2008

Take care
Love
Margaret

Given how you've been losing the weight, a swimsuit-clad Greek summer must be a very realistic goal. I wish you all the best in 2008 for achieving it. You will do it!

Hi Auburn

Thanks for visiting and your words of encouragement.

I must admit that I can so easily see me in Greece this summer - but I doubt that hubby will give up his job and go for longer than a couple of weeks. My friend Maria (who phoned earlier today) was telling me that her hubby acquired some goats so now they have 75 goats (they didnt have any before) and apparently they are so cute. She says when I next go out we can play with her goats.

Take care

Hey Hun,

Thanks for dropping by my diary! Congrats on the 10lb loss- you are truly one determined trooper, I wish I had your determination and motivation- God, I could use it, haha! Happy new year, let's make this one worth it!!

I love your motivation!

Hi omega!

I just joined the forum yesterday and introduced myself in newcomers. I mentioned being a PCO lady desperately seeking motivation to stick with losing weight abd Bellaryna suggested I look up ur diary, and after skimming over ur entries, I am absolutely in awe of you!!!

I am going to start my own diary and i really do hope u will drop in often for inspiration, as I will continue to do with urs!

You have already helped me, just by being a role-model and I wish u success every step of the way!

Cheers,

Sam!

Hi Sam

Thanks for dropping by and saying such nice things.

I have just raced over to your diary and put a reasonably long posting to give you a push in what I think is the right direction for you. I put it in your diary so that you can easily refer to it if you think "what else did Margaret suggest".

Good luck. PCOS is a difficult thing to cope with - and losing weight is something that I wish that I had achieved at your age. A specialist said to me once "Life is not fair for PCOS ladies". I think that just about sums it up.

Take care

Hello Margaret~
I see that my new friend found you. I am so glad. I think that you will be able to help her greatly. What with your experince with the PCOS and all.
Well there won't be any walking here today. The Snow Gremlin came last night and dropped another 3 inches on top of the 7 that we already had. They are calling for a huge warm-up on Monday of 58*. I guess we'll see if it actually happens. As I have to think that that would be to huge of a difference. As well as I would then need Noah's Ark to get around!!!
Hope you are having a great day!
Catch ya later~

Howdy Margaret,

Just popping in to wish you a good evening. :)

Bella, I hear you with the snow. We've gotten about 8 inches (20.32cm) or so over the past 3 days here. I just heard on the news that some areas south of us got over 16inches of snow in the past 2 days! That's 40.64 centimeters for those who think in metric...lol.

Thankyou for visiting.

Dawn

Thanks for sending Sam to me. She seems to be a very nice young woman in her twenties. I have given her some advice. Whether she chooses to follow it or not will be her decision. That snow sounds cold. Thankfully we dont have anything like that here yet. If you cannot get out and walk maybe you should challenge your kids to a snowball fight - that could give you some good exercise if you could face going out in it......

Kimberly

Good evening to you too. Your snow sounds cold too.

Natalie Jo

Thanks. I have no idea what size of swimsuit I would take. I am going to leave it until just before I need one before I buy a new one - then I will know what size I want.

Kim

Have fun at the gym. You spend so much time there normally it will be like a home from home (just with hard work and exhaustion thrown in). Our new year was quiet - just hubby and me in front of the television. We change tv channels with the satellite dish every hour and watch the fire works as new year hits other countries (Greece / Turkey at 10pm, central europe at 11pm) - we are just a pair of big kids who like to see the fireworks. New Years Day was just like the average Sunday in this house.

Stacy

I am so pleased that you made it to the challenge. We can take bets on how long it will be before Kimberly makes me count my calories.

Take care

So December came to an end and I finally get around to making a monthly report.

I am pretty pleased with my achievements over the month of December.

I did not expect my weight loss to be anything like what I actually got. This is because my weight loss is skewed and the week when I could hope for my main loss for the month happened to contain Christmas.
After 8 days when I didnt lose anything - I suddenly started to lose weight well over Christmas itself.

On 1st Dec my weight was 12st 10.2 lbs i.e. 178.2 pounds
On 31st Dec my weight is 12st 0.2 lbs i.e. 168.2 pounds

During the month of December I have lost 10 pounds

During December I passed the following milestones:
Weight is now under twelve and a half stone.
Weight is now in the 160s.
BMI under 30 - I am overweight and not obese.

In order to achieve this rate of loss I have been consistently reasonably firm regarding my food. I did however indulge in occasional pieces of naughty food over the Christmas holidays
I did slightly less walking than normal over the Christmas holidays - I even had a day when I didnt go out on a walk at all. The first day that I didnt go on a minimum 3 mile walk since I was ill on 3rd June.

My pedometer tells me that during the month I have walked a total of 301.09 miles
I have taken 795,750 steps

This averages as a daily rate of 25,669 steps, 9.71 miles

I also attend 2 exercise classes per week until the holiday period.

I am very pleased with my loss over the month.

And so you should be!!!! That is a fantastic achievement!

We can take bets on how long it will be before Kimberly makes me count my calories.

LOL! Just call me Dr. Evil....Muuuhhaaaaaaaaaa!!! *sits twiddling her fingers whilst thinking up various calorie-counting bonuses with which to torture poor Margaret.*
