Omega's journey

Your mum sounds like my mum.

Presents off her this year included a box of thorntons chocolates 4 bars of green and black chocolate (yes, the big bars), 2 bags of chocolate coins and a selection box.

I specifically asked her not to get me any chocolate. Im more than slightly irritated but I'm going to take it into work and share it all out. As if the struggle isnt hard enough :(

Well done one your christmas day. You have to have a few little treats or you end up feeling all deprived and eating more to compensate.
Happy New Year X

Thanks for visiting.

I wondered about water retention - but when you have been as big as I was and get so that you are dealing with it in a huge task - you just cannot risk a predictable backwards step for the sake of little more than a mouthful of food.

Hubby and I will be quite pleased to get home. At least we make the rules there and control the food in the house.

Auburn

I doubt that I am adopted - but you could easily believe it. When I was UK size 12 I looked tons fatter than all the rest of them. Dreams of wealth just round the corner are always good in my book. I'll start looking out for incredibly wealthy royal families that are inclined to put on weight.

Becky

What appropriate presents you got off your mother! At least my mother gave me lots of body lotion in addition to some money that will go towards the petrol - we spend a reasonable amount of money on petrol on every trip home (outer London to Newcastle). I go through tons of body lotion with my creaming regime. I am asking a lot of my skin and try and give it every opportunity of coping. I am a coward and want to try and avoid too much loose skin as I do not want plastic surgery if I can help it. My mother in law (well known for the way she always considers my feelings) gave me a Terry's chocolate orange. It isnt really a positive - but I suspect that hubby will volunteer to remove all chocolate from tempting me by eating it.

I am a firm believer in accepting that I will try to be good - but am certain to have moments when I weaken and give in to temptation. I have given up on too many weight loss projects in the past at this point - as I have difficulty in dealing with failure. This is the reason that I do not count calories and also it is the reason why I always forgive myself immediately for my moments of weakness.

Take care

OMG!! You're losing weight during Christmas! That is ab fab!! I'm reading about your "naughtiness" and the whole time I'm thinking that you've been eating like a relative saint this time of year. You deserve to be rewarded with those losses. :)

I can fit into D's and DD's without any trouble, so I don't think I'll need to fly over to Newcastle in order to bra shop. :biggrinjester: But if I ever feel the urge (or have the bank account for it), I'll be sure to do it when you're up visiting your parents. :D

I cannot believe how unsupportive some mothers can be with our efforts. Mine doesn't care too much, either. But since I've been off my diet for over a week, I guess it doesn't matter much.

Have a safe trip back tomorrow!

Yep, I'm the same way about baked potato chips (which are worse in terms of water retention for me than popcorn). I love them, and they don't have that many calories, but it's not worth the jump in the scale.

Wednesday 26/12/07

Got in a morning walk – again continued the little extra walking for Newcastle because of both the previous day’s Christmas pudding and the fact that we have decided to go home Thursday and that will be a day with no walking!!!!! My cousin who was raised in the same house as me (and is therefore closer than most cousins could ever be) came for a family meal with her adult daughters and their families. I did the bulk of the catering and made things fairly healthy and not fattening. My mother however decided that we needed extra things like cauliflower cheese which she made (despite knowing how I put on weight with cheese - as if we didn’t already have enough vegetables). Various things like cake and chocolates were also produced by my mother - but I have been strong.

General Data:

Morning walk = 6.4 miles
Round the block = none
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 4.0lbs (i.e. 172.0 pounds)
Steps = 20,566
Distance = 7.79 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

My Food / Drink:

1 banana
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
2 large handfuls honey Shreddies
Roast turkey breast meat, 3 small pieces potato, swede, carrots, onion, green beans, celery, gravy
Fruit salad (no syrup) made with small amount of fresh melon, 6 small segments of mandarin orange and quite a few grapes
1 large handfuls of raisins
2 litres of cold water
some diet cola

That stinks hun..
Cheese makes me gain weight too, but I had six crackers today, with small pieces of cheese ...
so I didn't go overboard...

The chocolate must have been hard to stay away from ...

So how did you do over the Christmas Break?

Anyway ..ttylater hun

Hi Margaret.

I hope you had a Happy C-Mas. :)

*Have A Safe Trip Back Home!* :hug2:

I'm sure you're more than ready to get back to your routine and be in the comfort of your own home.

I look forward to catching up with ya.

Have A Great Day!

:)

Thank you for visiting me and continuing to give me all this support.

I must admit that I have been very surprised to see any losses. I tried to be as good as I could - but I have succumbed on a number of occasions and my exercise is certainly less than usual. The thing is that I am hovering over three milestones and I cannot wait for them to happen. Milestones are a bit like that. You get your eye on them as soon as they are in range and you think how wonderful it will be to achieve them. I am sitting just above
- under 170 pounds and into the 160s
- BMI under 30 - I want to be overweight and not obese
- under 12 stone

The most important has to be BMI under 30. In England there is a serious risk of being refused treatment if your BMI is over 30 so it will be good to be the right side of that line. A lot of people end up having to pay privately for treatment because the NHS tells you to go away and lose weight.

You are so lucky having boobs that fit in normal large sized bras. I am convinced that my boobs are unlikely to reduce to a normal size short of surgery.

We got home safe and sound - the journey took over 7 hours. My mother will have no opportunity to put food in front of me until the next visit. I really do not know how you cope with yours on a daily basis.

Phoebe

That jump on the scales can put you off most foods.

Natalie Jo

I kept on my project as much as I could - but still had an enjoyable time. My weight actually looks like it is down on the past week - but of course there is still the rest of the week until New Year.

It is funny that you mention chocolate. I love it but have resisted it most days. The only time I ate it was Sunday when I had a chocolate biscuit. Anyway I do some of my creaming with body lotion and as you know - I do creaming every day. The body lotion that I am using at the moment is a cocoa butter rich body cream. It is wonderful - it smells of chocolate. When I am creaming - I keep smelling my arms.

Stacy

Thanks - really pleased to be back home.

Angel

Thanks. I cannot wait. I am beginning to wonder if I can achieve any more milestones this year....... I will be happy with early next year - and had assumed that this was the earliest that I could hope for - but I suppose that I am getting greedy and wondering if it is possible.

with all my glass decor!
Did you sighn up for any challanges if so maybe I will catch ya in
1,have a gr8 day***huggs Tammy

Hi Tammy

Thanks for visiting. I had a good Christmas thanks. My (artificial ancient) tree just went up last Wednesday and we went away Thursday morning for a week so we are just seeing it for the second day (I was late putting it up this year). In England most people keep their trees and decorations up past New Year and a lot of people take things down on 12th night (5th January).

I certainly am signed up for challenges and will be signing up for Kimberly's new one as soon as I spot the thread. It will give me something to complain about when she tells me to count my calories.

Take care

Hi Angel

I'm sorry - I have only just noticed your posting.

I havent put yesterday's page into the diary yet and I have just weighed myself for today. The big news is that on today's weighing I have hit one of my milestones and I am so close you can almost touch the next one!

Tuesday.... 25/12/2007 12st4.2 = 172.2 pounds
Wednesday 26/12/2007 12st4.0 = 172.0 pounds
Thursday... 27/12/2007 12st2.8 = 170.8 pounds
Friday....... 28/12/2007 12st1.2 = 169.2 pounds

Naturally my weight has every chance to go up tomorrow - but as far as reaching milestones goes - one has been reached this year.

I have never bought any normal clothes from Bravissimo - just bras. They are so good there though. I said that I didnt want to spend much money as I wanted to lose more weight and hoped to need a new bra a different size in a couple of months time. I just paid £22 which I thought was pretty reasonable when you consider what normal sized people pay for a bra in a lot of shops where there is no specialist stock and a zero level of customer service.

Good luck in finding a coat to fit. I am wearing a warm jacket which is a few sizes too big for me - but I dont want to buy any expensive clothes while my size is reducing.

Take care

No morning walk as we set off for home as near first thing as possible by the time packing was finished and the journey was over 7 hours. It was dark when we got in. I did manage to get out and walk 5 blocks which brought my pedometer up to a respectable level.

General Data:

Morning walk = none
Round the block = 5 times
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 2.8lbs (i.e. 170.8 pounds)
Steps = 13,348
Distance = 5.05 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

My Food / Drink:

1 litre box filled with grapes
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
salmon fillet, 3 pieces boiled potato, sweetcorn, small amount olive spread
1 large handful of raisins
2 litres of cold water
some diet cola

Well done Margaret! Really, that's a wonderful achievement and you have every right to feel very proud of yourself, especially at this time of year :hurray:

(BTW I'm just over 10lbs behind you, and determined to catch you up. So watch your back, and no slacking :smilielol5:)

Well done on going into the 160's!!

And your BMI, I know the feeling of wanting one below 30. I work within the NHS and one of my major dislikes about it is when people get refused treatment for having a 'high' BMI.

Everytime I come and read you journal I feel really inspired and encouraged - Thank You!!

Becky.

Margaret,
I felt like I was reading my own post here. LOL I to just got my tree up less than a week ago, I think it's only had the lights turned on maybe 3 times and of course Christmas. I refuse to take it down for at least another week, geez I love looking at it to much to rip it down after only one week. LOL LOL Also, I'm so ready for a new challenge, I just didn't have a chance at all in December, everything seemed to go haywire nuts for me.

I'm so excited for you, that you are at a NEW LOW, but to be honest I had no doubt you would be there now, you work your tail off everyday and you always stay focused, regardless. I wish I had more of your determination in me lately, I need to get busy again and refocus myself.

I wanted to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! And a very nice weekend!!
HUGS AND LOVE
Kim

Thank you for visiting and your congratulations. I really appreciate it.

Angel

Thanks

Auburn

Hopefully I wont be slacking - but I assure you - I want you to catch up. I am always pleased to see my friends lose weight and hit their milestones. I really believe that we are all in this together and we are all spurred on by each other's success.

Becky

The current attitude of the NHS is scandalous.

The husband of one of my cousins had a life threatening condition which was described to him as a timebomb that could kill him at any time. He was told to go away and lose weight before they would operate. He also needed a pacemaker which they wouldnt fit before he could do any exercise to lose the weight. He had to pay privately for a pacemaker to be fitted to allow him to do any exercise in order to lose the weight in order to have the much more expensive operation done on the NHS.

The government takes approx 10% of our pay for our entire working life in employees NI, and makes our employer more than match it in employers NI - and it is obligatory (giving us no choice in the matter). If we pay for private insurance (we dont) that is more money again that people pay. Then they basically tell people that if your BMI is over 30 they will do nothing.

It must be very difficult to work for the NHS in a customer facing role as people are often inclined to shoot the messenger. The UK government should be ashamed of itself for allowing the NHS trusts to act in this manner.

I will be very pleased when I get my BMI under 30. My husband's BMI is well into the 50s so I know that there is every likelihood that we will have to pay privately if he needs anything.

Kim

You have a good excuse for being late with your Christmas tree. Having a major disaster hit your home - devastating your property and cutting you off from power for a week would halt anyone in their tracks. I - on the other hand - am inclined to be obsessive and was simply too busy trying to lose weight (e.g. out walking, going to my exercise classes, doing exercises at home, surfing the forum, trying to keep motivated etc). We both exercise as hard as we can and fully deserve every ounce of loss we get (and some we dont get too).

Take care

Was delighted to hit a new low which was a milestone when I weighed after my walk this morning. It will probably go up tomorrow (this often happens for me after a new low) – but at least on today’s weighing it was in the 160s.

Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 1.2lbs (i.e. 169.2 pounds)

Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

My Food / Drink:

1 banana
3 large handfuls honey Shreddies
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
roast pork, swede, carrots, onion, celery, cauliflower, peas, gravy
