Omega's journey

No time for any walks, but I'm sure you were doing your pilates while sitting in the car!!! (OK, only joking!)

So you're a northern lass. I love the accent from around there.

From what I've read in your diary, this Christmas period is going to be quite a challenge for you. I really admire your detemination to NOT get side-tracked. You've come an awful long way and you seem so focused on your objective. It really is a joy to read you. (I know I'm not the first to tell you that!).

Good luck surviving the northern winters without central heating (brrrrrr!). :seeya:

hey margaret!! have a good time up north! dont wurry too much about the walking. ull get right back on track when ure bak home.

;-)

Hi Auburn and Angel

No pilates or anything else en route. The steps only got as high as that by an effort to do a few extra steps at the motorway services and a mad dash around the house late at night when I decided that I needed my pedometer to at least be saying "healthy" - which it eventually did not long before midnight!

I certainly am northern. Born and brought up in Newcastle - but of Cumbrian heritage. I have lived down south for the past 23 years since I acquired a husband from Twickenham.

Christmas is certainly a challenge. I am exercising noticeably less, I keep being tempted in a minor way to have things that I would normally be strong and reject, and my weight seems to be going more upwards than normal (but fortunately still just a wiggle and not at any level to be of any concern). I am being as strong as I can be - so all of my transgressions are thus far minor.

I was naturally well used to northern winters in my youth - but now it is two days since we arrived and hubby is feeling decidedly under the weather with more cold germs. I am keeping taking the echinacea because I dont want his nasty germs.

Take care
Love
Margaret

So sorry to hear the germs have returned. I'm sure you'll be good Nurse Margaret and get hubby pumped full of liquids, vitamin C and echinacea. :)

I hope you enjoy your holiday with your parents and family. :grouphug:

Well POO Margaret!

So sorry to hear about the icky-poo germs returning!

My hubby is still ill! He's feeling ok as far as the cold part goes, but that nagging dern cough just won't go away!

I hope you guys have a Happy Christmas! :hug2:

{I tried to find something that said Happy Christmas, but had no luck..lol
I'm pretty sure you guys say that instead of "Merry?"
Is that correct, or have I just watched to many Hugh Grant movies? :biggrinjester:}

I also wanted to say CONGRAT'S!!

You did so AWESOME during the challenge! :hug2:

I'm so proud of you sweetie.

My best friend is half-british (her mum is from Leeds) and she says Happy Christmas. So, yes, it is not just in Hugh Grant films (cute little skanky man, nonetheless.)

Margaret, I am sure you will be right back under your low once the holidays pass. Be well!!

Hi Kimberly

Things are going well so far - apart from hubby having nasty germs. I got him some cold fighting bits when out on my walk - and he has sat in the warm all day watching the television. At least today (Saturday) my walking is at a reasonable level (all things considered).

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hi Stacy and Amber

Thank you so much for visiting. You both crept in while I was replying to Kimberly - mind you I did pause for a while talking to my mother.

The world is such a small place these days - we spend so much time watching the same television programs etc - that there really isnt a great deal of difference in phrasing. Accents - yes! You would probably be stunned if you ever heard my northern accent. It is not as harsh (or difficult to understand) as most geordies though. We probably use "Merry Christmas" approximately as often as "Happy Christmas".

It is the sentiment that counts - and I certainly appreciate your seasonal greetings and wish you the same in return.

I suspect that we are all having minor hiccups in our weight loss project (I certainly am - we are only human) - but know that in a little over a week we will all be right back on track. The new challenges will be just what I need. I already know that in a couple of weeks I am going to be complaining about having to count calories!!! Maybe I am psychic!

Stacy - what is wrong with these weeklings that we share our lives with. The poor things keep trying to infect us with their nasty germs. Naturally we are concerned and sympathetic - but surely - enough is enough!

Amber - I did a 6 month training course in Leeds in my youth in the late 1970s. The Yorkshire Ripper was killing people there at that time. It was quite concerning as he killed young women at pretty much each end of the road where I lived (in a less than nice area there). I cannot think of the place without remembering that time. One of my closest male friends (and chaperones) was held for two days as being a major suspect. We all occasionally live in interesting times!

Take care
Love
Margaret

Got in a morning walk. Then went into town and got lasered. Then bought various items. Bought a new bra – which I was delighted with. I have been shrinking out of the one that I bought the weekend of the reunion (12th October). Then I was measured and told that my size was 40I. I got one today at Bravissimo and was measured. The bra that I bought was 36J. I am quite pleased with that improvement in two and a third months. Am also pleased with my stepcount for the day.

General Data:

Morning walk = 6 miles
Round the block = none
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 6.2lbs (i.e. 174.2 pounds)
Steps = 25,167
Distance = 9.53 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

well done with your step count and your new measurements. it is really difficult to get your excercise in while visiting someone for the day never mind staying away from home!!! you are doing really well!!! keep it up!

Thanks Angel. I am really pleased with the new bra. It makes me look instantly slimmer than I looked this morning. If only I could manage this kind of stepcount over the rest of the week it would be great (very unlikely!!!).

Hey Margaret!
Just read through your diary! Thanks for stopping in! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Well pre-new year and holiday ...lol

I am feeling all joyous, except for my weight gain off three and some ounces ... so I am upset there, but after reading some of your diary entries... I feel kind of like... I can do it too! :)

All of you seem to give me good inspiration .. I have been away from the weightloss forum for too long .. I don't feel like I have been very participatory ... but that is changing.... Tomorrow, if not raining I am going for a walk. I am so happy it will be raining...

Do you have snow? Ignorant much .. yes! And is it dreadfully cold where you are? I hope your husband is well soon and the germs take strides out the door hun ...

You sound like you are doing well ,even though the holidays are here, and temptation is here...

but you are right ..after these next few weeks ... We all shall be back on track .. I am going to try to get back on track ..starting tonight ..no midnight cookies! lol

love yas
ttylater Margaret!

Well done Margaret for your continuing determination. You must be so pleased with the new bra and all that it represents :willy_nilly:

I wanted to ask you a question, if you don't mind. Looking at your food diary, it seems to me that you have only one main meal a day. Is that right? How do you spread out your food intake during the day? (Sorry, perhaps you've already answered these questions in an earlier post, but your diary is so long that I can't find it!!!)

Wow, that would have been freaky scary!! Her mom was born in Leeds and moved to Thailand in the late 60's, I believe, which is where she met and married the American father of my friend!

Hiya

Sorry not stopped by for a while but i have been reading just no time to post!!!!
Your doing well with your food entries lots better than i am with all the christmas goodies around!!
But i am taking a leaf out of your book with the walking and making sure i walk the dog every day for at least 1.5miles
I love reading how far you have walked each day show total dedication Just be careful with all the ice thats around i nearly went on my bum before!!!!

Your leeds experience must of been horrible and your poor friend as well bet you were glad when it was all over

Take Care
Sarah

Thanks for visiting my diary.

Natalie Jo

I think that we all inspire each other on this forum. I just feel that we are all in this together - and if we stick together we will all get where we want to be.

I dont think that our weather is as severe as yours.

Natalie Jo and Sarah

It is cold but we dont have snow at the minute. I am curently just doing one walk in the morning - and it is frosty and white and fairly icy underfoot. I find myself sliding a little as I walk and therefore going a bit slower than normal, but so far I havent fallen over (touch wood!!!).

I have had lots of fattening things today - but hope to do better tomorrow.

Auburn

I must admit that I am pleased with my new bra.

As you know - most days I have very similar food. It is ordered as follows.

First thing - I dont feel like eating anything. I might weigh myself. I take half a litre of water and a banana with me on my long walk. If I get hungry or thirsty while out on my walk I may have it. If not - I have the banana later as a snack.

When I get in from my walk - I weigh myself. I use whichever is the lower if I have more than one weighing. It normally depends on whether I have eaten / drank anything.

I then have my weetabix. Over the next hour I will probably have my banana (if it has not been eaten) and a handful of shreddies.

Depending on whether or not I have had exercise classes it may be time for me to go out walking again.

About 4.30 I either have a packet of cooked meat or some more shreddies depending on what I fancy.

About 5.15 I might go out for another walk - if hubby fancies a walk.

Around 7pm I have my main meal.

Around 8.30 I have raisins.

If I fancy some more shreddies, fruit or fruit juice - I have some as a bit of a snack.

Amber

Your friends mother was probably much better off in America than Leeds at that time.

Amber and Sarah

It is funny how some experiences stay with you for ever. I had never felt scared about being out in Newcastle at night - so with those murders going on I felt apprehensive about Leeds. I nominated various lads that I knew from the north-east as chaperones (Newcastle being the main city in the north-east). Then the police got a tape (which turned out to be a hoax) claiming to be from the killer with a north-eastern accent. Experts pin-pointed where they believed that the accent was from - and lads from there who were regularly in the key area of Leeds were suddenly under suspicion.

Sunday 23/12/07

Got in a morning walk. Hubby was still under the weather – but we decided not to cancel our plans. The day was both enjoyable and pretty abysmal from a weight loss project perspective. We spent the main of the day at the home of friends that live in fairly remote countryside. This meant that we had little control of our food. I ate far too many fattening things - as there were two meals - both effectively party snacks. I enjoyed the day though and the food was very nice. The following list of food is not exhaustive – but what I can remember.

General Data:

Morning walk = 6 miles
Round the block = none
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 5.0lbs (i.e. 173.0 pounds)
Steps = 19,778
Distance = 7.49 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

My Food / Drink:

1 banana
2 large handfuls honey Shreddies
6 grapes
Medium baked potato, 2 teaspoons fruit / mayonnaise salad
2 pieces quiche
Salad
Half small pork pie
Half small scotch egg
Small piece ciabatta
Small piece chocolate gateau
Chocolate biscuit
About 10 crisps
Finger pinch nuts and raisins
Sandwich made with half slice bread, butter, coronation chicken
1 large handfuls of raisins
2 litres of cold water
some diet cola

:waving: Hello dear friend
I have been absent from the forum the last few days; very busy, as you can relate.

Tomorrow we leave on our Christmas trip to visit DH's family from the 24th to 27th. It will be crazy but hopefully enjoyable. Terrible, dreadful driving through the snowy Cdn mountains for at least 5 hours, but we are hopeful the road is well-maintained, as it is a busy one. We are traveling in tandem with another family, and will have walkie-talkies and cell phones too.

My eating has been simply ghastly this week from a WW perspective. However, I am doing my best to share every fattening thing with DH (cutting pumpkin pie pieces in half, sharing 1/2 glass of egg nog, etc.) and have been very strict with my treadmill regimen, too. I hope there is no damage, and will keep it in mind while we are gone and I don't have access to it.

All for now, just wanted to wish you a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS, indeed!

:grouphug:

xoxoxo Janice

Hi Janice

Have a safe journey (important in those snowy mountains) and a wonderful Christmas.

I think that everyone is extra busy at the minute - I certainly am. I am pleased that you have been having a good time.

You have done really well by effectively halfing your calories (compared to what you would have done if you were not on your project) and by keeping up the walking. :hurray:

If I know you - you will be straight back on that treadmill when you get home.

Take care
Love
Margaret
