Omega's journey

LOL! I told the pregnant girl at my office there's no need to buy maternity tops, as all those baby doll ones for non-pregnant women should fit her well into her 7th or 8th month...:D She thought that was funny. And she can wear them after she has the baby, too.

You knit? Your talents know no bounds. I'd like to learn how to knit and quilt, but have been too lazy to bother. :D

I think that I have always known how to knit - it is something that I was taught as a small child. I made my first garments (hat, mittens) when I was 7 or 8 years of age. In my teens there was no stopping me!

I would say that I did my best knitting when I was in my late teens / early twenties. I have to say that I have done comparitively little in recent years.

I also used to do crocheting, tapestry and tatting when I was young.

My father used to be very good at tapestrywork and patchwork when he was younger.

Tapestries? That is pretty cool. Do you have any at your home? I'd love to see some if you do.

The closest I come to knitting is knit picking. Well, I used to finger crochet as a kid--but never made anything elaborate, that is for sure. :biggrinjester:

No I havent any tapestries here. They were all small and I did them as a youngster. Nothing to write home about. All you need is a plan, a lot of patience and the ability to do cross-stitch. My father has a number of his on the walls in Newcastle - and he did lots of kneelers and things for the church.

My knitting was my major craft - and I will be pleased if I can find some of the things that I know should be around somewhere.

Hiya

Sorry i missed your huge milestone but been unable to get on the computer due to decorating the spare room so

CONGRATS

Hope all is well
Sarah

Hi Sarah

Thanks for the congratulations. As you can imagine - I am pretty pleased - and sitting on top of another great milestone. I only need to lose a very small amount of weight to get my BMI into the normal range.

So you are decorating the spare room. Is this preparation of the nursery?

All is well here thanks.

Take care
Love

You are shrinking too stinking fast ;)!! Just a few grams away from that normal BMI Marge!!! Amazing!

What new challenges are you going to take this summer? Or does Greece stand in the way of any interesting challenges?
I think I jinxed myself by joining the 8 pounds in may challenge, because here I am less than a week from the end of may and I am 2 pounds heavier than I was on the 1st day of may! Grrrr!

Hi Camy

Thanks for your congratulations.

Having skewed weightloss can be annoying at times - but it is really enjoyable when you get into the comparitively rapid weightloss part of the month and get a few new lows one after another.

I think that my next new low should see me "normal"!

We have put off the idea of Greece until September. There are some good festivals then and anyway - I want to be able to join in everything and not worry about whether my stitches are as fully healed as I would like.

Lori (Missblonde) is just starting a challenge this weekend - so why dont you race over there and sign up.

I always sign up for the 2 pounds a week challenges - but I never manage to get 2 pounds a week these days. I have got to the stage where just about any weightloss is most welcome - and I am over the moon if things average out at about 1% per week. If I can get an average of 1% per week I will be very very happy - I can assure you. In fact - I think that some of the others on a long term project would be pretty pleased with that sort of average too.

I only broke below my start of May weight within the past week.

Take care

Yep sure is but not telling anyone other than people on here about it want it to be a surpirse as everyone thinks the child thing will be in 3 years when im 30 lol

Sarah

hay there margaret, just popped in to see how you are :) i also can knit but i have only known for a couple of months and iam in the process of knitting my cat a blanket for her bed lol :D

Congrats on another new low!

I believe Monday is a bank holiday there, is it not? It is here as well, so most people get a 3-day weekend. HOpe you enjoy it! I'm going to try and talk H into going to Lake Michigan for the day--I love to walk the breakwater out to the lighthouses. :)

Thanks for visiting.

Sarah
Not at all surprised! I hope you get a baby to slot into the room soon.

A blanket will make a great learning piece for you to do things like getting your tension even. When I was aged about 7 I used to go to a children's group organised by the local red cross. Anyway we used to knit squares and hand them in - and they used to be made up into blankets to send to bad places. Are you making your blanket by knitting a lot of squares and sewing them together?

Kimberly
Thanks for the congratulations. No new low today - up a bit. I suspect that the gain is down to an absence of toilet activity overnight - although why that should happen when I eat half the fruit on the planet - I couldnt say.

Monday is indeed a bank holiday here - Spring Bank Holiday. Rod is off and doesnt go back to work until Tuesday. True to form - Sunday and Monday have rain forecast. If we do anything this weekend it will be for Rod to sort out the garden a bit (if the forecast is wrong) as we have a load of plants that should be put in. The garden needs digging and I cannot do anything with it because of my stitches.

We will go to Newcastle next weekend (instead of this weekend when the roads are busy) - it will be nice to catch up with friends and family and I badly need lasering.

I hope that you get to walk to the lighthouses - it sounds like fun.

Take care

well its a funny story my nan taught me to knit and gave me some wool and told me to get on with it, anyway i made way to many cast on stiches on the needle and continued knitting and when my nan saw it she just laughed and said oh well you can do a small blanket originally i was trying to make a scarf Lol

i think i will try the squares next and sew them together i think that would be more fun as you see the item progressing quicker than what iam doing :D

Everyone's first piece of knitting goes a bit like that!

The good thing about doing squares is that you actually complete a square comparitively quickly. You also get lots of practice at casting on and casting off. If you do each square a different colour it can make quite a pretty blanket. If you get sick of it you can decide to do less squares to make a smaller blanket. The biggest problem is that you get lots of stitching up to do.

Milestone

Since I weigh every day - I know to expect daily fluctuations and therefore will not be surprised to be heavier over the next few days / weeks.

Having said that - I weighed myself after my walk on empty today and my weight was 10st0.6 i.e. 140.6 pounds. This gives me a BMI of 24.9 which is the first time that I have had a BMI in the "normal" range in over 20 years.
