Omega's journey

Got up early because Rod said that he would get into work early when they asked him just as they were mulling over the dependancy leave issue. As if he would say no!

The weather is truly gorgeous today again. The past week has every chance of being our best week of the year for weather. They say that it will break Thursday.

I wish that you could get to Greece too. That would just be so good.

thats ashame about the weather breaking on thursday :( its been lovely taking the kids i work with out in this lovely weather to play! hope all at the doctors went well!

I know - we are not used to weather like this.

I spoke to the receptionist. She said that I would need a letter to get insurance and she has put in a request for the doctor to write one. I asked when it was likely - she said not before the end of the week.
I will be glad if / when I have it. I left it that I would call in tomorrow - in case it has been done / refused. I will call in each day until I get an answer.

i hope that all goes well and the letter doesnt get refused as that would be horried for you! I hope that you get the answer you want soon and that you dont have to keep on ringing as i know that can be a real pain and a half Lol! :) good luck

I go out walking every morning so I actually turned up in person. I will do so every day until I get my letter. I know how to make a real nuisance of myself - hopefully it will encourage them to give me what I want.

There is an advantage to being the local eccentric walking lady!

Well you will be missed if you get the trip to Greece off the ground, which I'm quite sure you will. I'm sure you'll manage to swing by a cafe once in a while and we will eagerly look forward to your updates.

Yes, the watermelon was delicious. I really dont care about the calories if I'm getting fruit or veggies since they're so natural and healthy, though I realize the calories probably do end up counting ha ha.

Everything has calories - but I really wouldnt worry about those in most fruit and veg too much. We have to eat. I always think that the fruit / veg calories would be a lot less than whatever else I was eating if not having said fruit / veg.

To feel extra good about having enjoyed the watermelon - read the red section in this article.

Sorry i assumed as you said that you meant that you would ring them everyday but i actually read what you said again and i must have missed the in bit of call in Lol! aww i can just picture you as "the eccentric walking lady"

I love watermelon but i havent had it in ages, the other weekend when my mum was visiting me and her ate a whole mango between us, it was so lovely and tasted great as i havent had melon for a while!

Hey eccentric walking lady, :D

Those receptionists are about to find out about your olympic level nagging abilities. :D

Heehee...:smilielol5:

Sorry you had to get up early today. Have they made a decision regarding Rod's leave yet?

Enjoy your good weather while it lasts. We had rain all weekend, but today was sunny and beautiful. :hurray:

Hello Margaret~
It's been a while since I popped in on you. I have been so busy here between work, my mom and hubby's mom that I don't even barely get a chance to jump on the computer. That is unless I want to do it at 11pm at night.
Hope things are still going well for you.
I plan to catch up on diaries tomorrow as I barely got any sleep this past work weekend, worked 40 hours in less than 3 days, and am exhausted.
I'll catch ya later.
Ciao

Thanks for visiting.

Kelly
No need to be sorry for assuming that I was behaving like a normal person. You have to be a bit eccentric to walk quite as much as I do!

The great thing about fruit is that it is so yummy that you feel decadent - and yet it is so good for you.

Kimberly
I'm sorry that you had poor weather at the weekend - but pleased that things are improving for you. I have actually got sunburnt! I have been out walking in shorts and sleeveless tshirts for most of the past week while the weather has been so good. Well - naturally I was sensible but I never thought that the t-shirt might not come high enough up at the back. The top of my back has got burnt. Not peeling yet - but it will come. Currently using E45 cream and sunscreening there too now!

Guess who has finally got round to joining Weight Watchers today. I doubt that you will see a major change in my foodplan though. I have been threatening to do it for ages - well I finally did it.

Dawn
No wonder you are exhausted. It is a wonder that you are on the computer at all. I hope that you are enjoying the less exhausting bits of life and that the food / exercise is going fine. I really dont want you back up into the "extras" because of exhaustion.

Becky
We will be good together (you in those trim new jeans) and with luck next week I will be back down and you will have your major BMI milestone (and we will all have a forum party).

Take care
Love
Margaret

I'm curious to see how the WW goes for you. Since their whole system is counting pts, I wonder how you'll like it--as it's pretty much the same as counting calories. I don't think it should affect your eating too much, as I believe you can eat whatever foods you want as long as you don't go over the pt limit for the day. :)

Have they talked about their maintenance plan? I know that is what will interest you most.

Today is another beautiful day, but we have a forecast of rain for this weekend (go figure--just in time for my walk-a-thon)--which means I'll most likely be doing a drowned rat impression myself. :cuss: Gotta go buy a rain poncho..lol.

Thanks for visiting.

Tammy
I have to admit that I havent been posting around the forum as much as I would like recently either. It is always great to see you here.

You are welcome to copy any of my food. It really is filling and yummy. It has so much fruit in it that it satisfies all wishes to eat sweet things.

We all know how much better we feel if we have been eating healthily and exercising. It may be worth focusing on how much you want the baby to be getting the best nutrition so that it feels like that too. We both know that generally it is not the really nutritious stuff that makes you fat - it is things like comfort eating that does that to us.

I hope that you do manage to retain control because you have worked so hard to lose all that weight - you would hate to have to do it all over again in a year's time.

Kimberly
WW went very well. She gave me an initial goal to lose 15 pounds and there was talk of me then getting the gold key so my meetings were free as long as I didnt put on more than 5 pounds from there. I said that I didnt know if I would be finished with losing then. It could be a real bargain. The books only seem to refer to a low limit of BMI=20. As you get the gold key you get books on maintenance and she steers you through that side of things.

I got all the books at this stage and checked out the core plan and the points plan. The core plan seemed ok with just about everything available to me. Then it said that you had to eat 3 meals a day and if you had fruit other than that it counted as a snack and you had to buy it with points - allocating you 21 points a week. I like to effectively graze and basically munch on fruit most of the afternoon and evening. Otherwise I am happy to have a huge cereal based breakfast at lunchtime after my morning walk (only having a banana before then if I have anything - often having it with my cereal). Then I have a main meal at night.

Having said that since 21/7 = 3 seems restrictive - I have to remember that I can add on my pedometer points and todays total 6.5 + said 3 makes well enough points for my fruit grazing.

On the points plan there didnt seem to be any such restrictions. I got 17 points per day - but my pedometer is from WW and it earns points. I earned 6.5 points today. That means that today for instance I really had 23.5 points to play with. I went through my food plan and my main meals and basically today was a very standard day and my points came to 21 points.

The only difference was that I did keep a lid on the honey shreddies (still having some but not being excessive) - but that probably had more to do with the meeting having gone so well so I was extra motivated to be good.

Of those 21 points my main meal was 6 points.

Going through some of my regular meals
salmon etc 6 points
chicken stir fry 3 points
roast chicken 3 points
plaice/beans 5 points
pork loin / beans 7 points

Since you can pass forward up to 4 points each day for later in the week - I really strongly suspect that I am going to have spare capacity more often than not.

I plan on telling everyone that I am on points and continuing to do what I have been doing. I will fill in the form after the event for a week or two so I'll have it if she wants to check it. I dont think that it will cause me much in the way of issues because the points are pretty meaningless to me.

It looks like we will all be in rain soon. They are still talking about rain for Thursday so I will make the most of tomorrow.

I am sorry that it will put a dampener on your walking event. I think that you certainly want some sort of kagoul. After 18 hours of walking in the rain you will be able to take the world-famous drowned rat title from me for the USA. I hope that makes you feel just as proud as I am when I win it for England.

Take care
Love
Margaret

yes i totally agree with you about fruits, i love smoothies and sorbeys (sp?) they are so much more tastier than a milkshake or ice cream, actually that reminds me i need to start making them again! luckly we have a smoothie maker so that will save the time of getting the blender out!
Hope you have a nice day tomorrow

oh margaret iam also on ww too and currently iam on 28 points, i hope you find it as successful as i do!

Thanks for being concerned for my well being during this very hectic time. I must admit that I have not been doing my exercise like I should.........I actually missed my class tonight due to planting flowers for MIL........and for the most part I have been eating well. Lots of salads and keeping a lid on portion sizes. However I have eaten out a few times in the past week at fast food places eating things that I haven't had in a very very long time.
Add to that the fact that I have not been drinking my water, bad I know, and you can see the struggle I am going thru.
If I don't get back on track soon I worry that I may never get back on track.
Hopefully once things settle down with MIL and the upcoming Memorial holiday things will fall back into place here.

This points thing sounds intriguing. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you, and to see if it's something that could be helpful when I get to the point where it's harder to shed the pounds. Part of me fears the restriction--I'm a bit of a nibbler, like you (though not so healthy, I fear), so counting is always difficult for me.
