Omega's journey

Thats a great eating plan your doing basically what my mum did to lose weight she went from 21st to 11st she had cereal for breakfast and lots of fruit then meat and loads of veggies for her evening meal and by doing this she managed to lose it in 10 months!

Hi Margaret! So when do you leave for Greece? Will you have internet access while there??

Your meal program is so interesting. Basically some cereal, then fruit throughout the day, then a meat and tons of veggies for dinner, plus more fruit. That is exactly how this woman from 3fatchicks.com lost all her weight so quickly. She went from 287 to 122 in about 1 year by eating like that. Except much less though cuz she stuck to between 1200 and 1400 calories, but she did far less walking (daily moderate exercise but not at all the focus). Your way is obviously better. I just checked up on her so then when I looked at your food it reminded me. I just went out and bought some watermelon (which I do believe has a lot of calories bah..), a huge tub of strawberries and some mushrooms, squash and zuccini to saute..its a start. Anyway, enjoy your evening.

Yes, will we be Omega-less while you're in Greece? :(

Cita--watermelon is pretty low in cals--it's mostly water. ;)

I think I need to adopt Margaret's eating plan. :D

Hi Margaret,

First of all, I want to thank you so much for visiting me so often in my diary, even when I have gone missing :).

I see that you are likely going to Greece soon! That is sooooo exciting. When are you planning on going? I think it's great that you don't plan to deprive yourself. You have come so far that you should be able to enjoy yourself while you are away and know that when you come back home, you will get back on track as usual. I always give myself a bit of a break on vacation. I think in the beginning I am a bit afraid and cautious, but I end up letting loose with eating.....not too horrible though. I always try to squeeze in working out though it doesn't always happen for me.

I like how you weigh yourself everyday and can figure out that your weight gain right now is due to TOM. I made up an excel sheet so hopefully I can start tracking that so when in a few months I don't weigh myself daily, I can account for certain weight changes. I'm also curious to see how my body responds to various foods as I have never really tested that out. I am usually pretty good about recording things for a couple weeks, and then I fall off track. I am hoping I stick w/ it this time.

It looks like you are back on your feet and recovering from surgery. You are quite a motivated person. I think it's so wonderful!

Hey Margaret,
check out the ticker, I am over halfway!!! And then (if you have time) go and look at my before and during pictures... how annoying I can be... I see why my mom doesn't really love me that much ;)

Thank you for visiting my diary tons these last few days, with my parents boykotting my happiness and all I really needed some motivation from you guys.
Camy

Thanks Margaret!

Im so happy about the jeans, bought from a 'normal' shop (Monsoon). Places like Evans do have lovely things but its so nice to have a bit more choice =D.

I'm really hoping that my BMI will be down to 29.somthing after my weigh in tomorow but if not then I'm SURE it will be the next week. Will let you know via the old diary of course! have a good (whats left of the) weekend and I'll talk to you tomorow probabaly.

Slight uncertainty about Greece as we were just about to book plane tickets for basically the first 3 weeks of June when we thought - these tickets are expensive - better get travel insurance sorted out in case we have to cancel (something always possible when you have parents aged about 90). Anyway we tried a couple of companies and they want me to confirm with my doctor that it is ok to travel. The silly thing is that when I saw her a week ago we discussed how my scar was healing and we mentioned in passing that we were planning on being away on holiday. She never said anything about there being a problem - but we didnt specifically say "is it ok to travel?". I dont envisage any problem.

Internet access will be a bit tricky. We will not have access to a telephone or internet service provider - and the laptop is so old it will not be worth taking. When we were permanently out there we were all sorted out. We will be reduced to visiting an internet cafe so will not be on the forum too often at all.

The order of my food in general terms is just as you outlined - the only thing is that I should say that I do not eat the fruit items necessarily in the order on the list. I eat the same things pretty much each day - but the order does change. I keep the list in a word document and at the start of the day colour the writing black. As I do things that I do every day or eat something I colour it blue. I add in extra things where-ever is easiest and at the end of the day it is all blue before I copy / paste it into my diary.

Today - for instance I have had 1 banana, 1 peach, 2 plums, 1 clementine in the way of fruit at this moment in time (5pm). It is encouraging that the woman on 3fatchicks is doing a very similar thing. I still have a bit to go and hope that this method will get me there.

I dont know about calories but I think that your watermelon should be great. I eat it all the time in Greece.

Liz
That is what happens when I copy/paste and do not bother sorthing out my plurals. It makes people giggle around the world.

I am all for plums. I got constipated last year and have a concern that it might come back. Of course since then I have discovered that my bowel was fond of travel and I had gallstones - so it is possible that the pains that were put down as constipation at the time where something else entirely. I still eat half of England's fruit imports just to be sure.

It is interesting that you have really got your weightloss happening big time (not surprising considering all your cycling - but interesting considering that like me you are deep into a long term project). I was so impressed that you dropped 4 pounds as TOM started. Dropping processed food and grain sounds tricky. The main processed food that I have are baked beans - but I do try and have them quite often (despite the sodium) because they are so good for the cholesterol. Rod is naturally inclined towards high cholesterol - so I find every excuse to force him to eat them. I cut bread some time ago - but I do have quite a lot of grain with my weetabix and honey shreddies. I know that I really should sort out my honey shreddies addiction. I keep thinking that it is getting in the way of things.

Kelly
Your mother did amazingly well to lose 10 stone in 10 months. That is a stone a month. That is a better rate of weight loss than I have managed. Your mother must be an enormous inspiration to you.

Kimberly
I suspect that you will go from Omega-3 to Omega free!
We should maybe call it Kelly's Mum's eating plan since she lost 140 pounds in 10 months.

Priti
If all goes to plan we will be going at the very end of the month. There is a slight uncertainty about dates regarding travel insurance but I think that it will be ok.

I know how busy you are - but there is much to be said for taking a scientific approach to recording weightloss. There are a number of factors that can easily be thought likely to influence weightloss and it is as easy to record them as not.

In all honesty - I think that I am recovering from surgery better than many would envisage likely. I have to keep reminding myself to take a bit of care and remember that there are stitches healing on the inside too. The people at the hospital were very nice - but I dont want their company again and am aware that there is a weakness so I am at increased risk of another hernia op.

Janice
As I said in your diary. Your photo is wonderful and it is great that you are in such a tiny size. Also great that your figure is appreciated by young men.

Camy
It is brilliant that you are past the halfway mark. I hope that your family is helping you to celebrate such a great achievement. I have just checked out your photos. As I said in that thread - you look great and you are only half way to goal. You will look so slim it is silly when you get near goal weight.

Becky
Evans things are nice enough when you have the choice of going elsewhere. Take it from me - at size 32 you would give a fortune to be able to shop anywhere else. After 20 years imprisoned in Evans clothes - I would take Monsoon any day. Size 18 jeans are brilliant.

You will be overweight any day now - with all the joy that it brings. We all so much prefer to think of ourselves as overweight.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hey Marg! Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you and I'm so happy you're recovering so well from your surgery. I was hoping you would!

I'm a bit envious that you get to go to Greece. I always wanted to travel the world. Italy, France and especially Athens are on my list. I hope you have a blast!

I hope your weekend is going well.

hay margaret my mum is a really big insperation to me, she has such a big will power that i tried the plan she followed and i gave up! unfortunalty now that she lives with a choco-holic for a fiance shes finding the maintance really difficult!

Thanks for visiting.

Rae
With holidays and romantic quandaries - it is surprising that you visit at all. You will have plenty of time for travel as you get older. Greece is only Europe - which is where I live. You have to remember that I have never been to USA so it is not like I am so much better travelled than you - even though I have been to Italy, France and Greece.

My weekend is going well thanks. I hope that yours is too.

Kelly
I am not surprised that your mother is a huge inspiration. The only problem with being close to someone who has been so successful is that you have to not compare your progress with theirs. I suspect that is one problem that Rod faces. You will get there whether you follow her food plan - or invent one of your own that works for you. You know the basics - plenty of nutritious food to keep you feeling full - with not too many calories and a reasonable amount of exercise done very regularly.

I am sorry that she is finding maintenance to be difficult. If she is lucky - her fiance may decide to cut down on his chocolate. He may decide that he wants to lose weight before the wedding.

Lots of people struggle with maintenance. I am planning to join a slimming club - even though I am well on my way towards goal - because I fancy the lifetime membership that you can get when you get to goal. I think that I need a slimming club to get me through maintenance more than I need one to get me to goal.

Take care

i think maintance for all people who have made it to their goal always find it a struggle thats one thing iam not looking forward to when i make it! i think joining a slimming club would be good for you in your maintance stage as you get the support you need if you do put on a few pounds, they will give you the help and advice that you need to succeed! :)

we live in hope that my mums fiance will give up the chocolate but they have been together 4-5yrs and theres no sign of him stopping Lol!

Hi Kelly

I have been thinking a lot about how I am going to cope with maintenance for ages now - ever since I lost enough that I really didnt want to go back up to 21 stone.

I kind of figure that the slimming clubs might not have too much experience of getting people down from 21stone to a maintenance weight (because a lot of people do not get up to 21 stone) but they have tons of experience at getting people to lose that last stone or two that everyone says is the hardest and then getting people to stay there or there-abouts. All their customers (be they big or not that big really) have a bit to lose and then they have to maintain.

Your Mum must think that he is pretty special and worth all that temptation. It isnt easy when we are with someone who wants to tempt us - Rod has had some ice-cream tonight so I know what your Mum is going through. Thankfully Rod has cut down on his chocolate consumption because he knows that I prefer chocolate to ice-cream. Is there any chance of your Mum guiding her fiance towards another treat that is not so tough for her?

Take care
Love
Margaret

i think its a really good idea! i think my mum is trying that at the moment trying to switch him from chocolate to yogurts, what she is thankful for its that she works late and when marks home shes out working so theres no temptation but its when shes working days or is off she finds it a little hard, but i must say she does have really strong willpower what she does when mark has some choccie is she will make herself a coffee as she loves coffee and it takes her mind of the choccie!
Good luck for tomorrow!

I havent tried them - but I know that there are chocolate drinks that you can get that are quite low calorie. It might be worth your Mum trying those instead of coffee sometimes.

She must have very strong willpower to have lost 10 stone in 10 months. That is tons faster than I have managed. You will have some of that willpower and it will help you to get to goal.

I hope that tomorrow will go well for you too. Guess who is walking by the doctor's office tomorrow morning to see if she can get the holiday situation moved forward?

I'm sure you'll get the travel insurance sorted out soon enough.

I don't think I will like being Omega-free. :biggrinjester: But the last week of your trip I'll be gone myself, so that will help. :D

Have a great week!

Thanks for visiting.

Kelly
Thanks - I hope so. Why can't things just go smoothly!

Kimberly
How will the forum cope without either of us. I am sure that there will be a dip in forum activity - we gossip so much! I hope that you have a great week yourself.

Take care

Margaret

You're up a bit early this morning. :)

Yes, I'm sure there will be about 50 posts per day less with both of us gone..lmao. I wish I was rich--I'd fly to Greece while you were there. :D
