No Day But Today - Jes' Journal

Jes as always, you have some of the most kick ass cardio work outs ever. I'm stepping up my game in that department.

BTW, I loved your introspective post about working out and being happy with yourself. I absolutely, completely get what you are saying. JZ responded perfectly to it also. I don't know why I didn't do this stuff 20 years ago... WTF was I thinking? I'm glad you are now, at your age because it will only improve your life.

Amanda - I DO feel amazing :) Working out has become an addiction almost for me.

My workout wasn't as long as I wanted it to be but something is better than nothing. :) My body is still really sore. It seriously hurts to walk lol No idea what's up with that. I have a LONG day today. First class was at 8AM. Skipped my second class so I could fit in some gym time. Then I still have classes until 4PM. THEN I start work at 4PM-9PM.

But tomorrow I get off work by 2:45PM and I am soo hitting the gym right afterwards and getting a GOOD work-out in. No work on Sunday so definitely do the same then. 4 days till my weigh-in! I'm getting a little nervous. I am planning on hitting the gym hard core the next 4 days.

Oh yeah, upping my calorie intake to 1500-1600 calories. 1200 was fine before but my work-outs were nothing compared to now. I don't necessarily feel more hungrier now but I know I need the food. So setting up meal times for myself just to make sure I GET all my food in. Oh yeah, holy carb overload as of late :-X

ALRIGHTY, time for class. :(

I am not done eating yet. Waiting on the rest of my dinner.

My work-out was alright. I have realized running on the indoor track is so much more fun then on the treadmill. I just feel like I'm flying and wow. It feels SO good. I LOVE it.

My body is STILL sore. I think it's telling me I need a break. A break longer then 1 day. I'm contemplating taking 2 days off. BUT ahhhhhh!!! I feel SO guilty just THINKING about that. Or it might be that I have not been getting enough sleep. Been around 4-6 hours. I need more sleep. I was going to get up at 6:30AM tomorrow so I could be in the gym by 7AM, right when it opens but I think I need sleep. I'm going to let myself sleep in,

I need to go grocery shopping. I'm all out of vegetables. :(

Alrighty, I need to shower.

Yeah once you finally feel comfortable doing it it doesn't take long to realize how much more fun running around as opposed to on a treadmill actually is. Stationary machines are a great, low impact place to start, but nothing beats the real thing in my opinion.

Good work Jes, weigh in in two days right? I'm betting you're gonna beat your goal

^ Yes in 2 days. I am SO nervous. IDK. I don't think my eating has been all that great. SO many carbs :x

PS - They need to change the color of our specialist shirts. I AM SO SICK OF IT. ANd omgggggggg I have so many freaking Apple shirts. They're my work-out clothes. Jared was like, "Dude how many different Apple shirts do you have?!" lol

:iagree:With JZ, Jes your work outs make ms gasp just thinking about them.

BTW, are you getting enough protein? I know you're not really body building per se, but since you are keeping calories prretty low, and doing so much exercise you should be keeping up your level of proteins. Endurance athletes (I don't know, 2 hours 20 minutes on various cardio devices combined with a mile run sounds like endurance to me...), should be getting around 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram or body weight. I think you're a little low.

Keep being amazing!!!

Thanks JZ & Karl :)

Karl - I KNOW I should be getting more protein. I'm horrible :x My trainer is always on me about it. I have definitely increased my calorie intake. I bumped it from 1200 to 1600. I am just spending way too much time in the gym as of late. I bought some protein mix but it is NASTYYYYYYYYY. I've gotten some good suggestions on here for protein shakes and I am definitely going to buy those as soon as I have some extra money to spend. Thank you for the advice :) I truly appreciate it.

I feel great. I look great. I can't believe my mindset has changed so much. Yesterday I seriously pigged out. (I had around 2,200 calories) Normally, I would have thought, "UGH I'm such a fatass. What's the point in exercising tomorrow?!" And then I would have given up. Now? My thoughts were, "Man that was yummy food. I can't wait to get into the gym tomorrow and burn it off" :p

Today I was feeling a bit sluggish before the gym. SO I opened up my closest and pulled out old clothes. Clothes from senior year of high school + freshmen year of college. These clothes were always snug on me and then I never wore them because I looked just gross. Now? They fit. Ahhh, I was crying (hey I'm a girl lol). :x But yes, definitely got my ass in the gym and fast :p Motivation!

I can't believe I'm doing this. It feels so surreal at times. I really am doing this.

Jes, protein shakes make me cringe... I have yet to try one that I actually enjoy drinking, no matter what flavor. So here are a couple of suggestions.

1 cup Kashi go lean, with a cup of skim milk (if you buy the hood smart balance it has a little higher protein) 23 grams of protein total (13 for the kashi, 10 for the milk)

1/2 cup of non fat cottage cheese - 14 grams protein

Chicken breast - 4 oz skinless baked, broiled, grilled has less than 200 cal and 34-35grams of protein.

All way better than shakes IMO.

BTW, took a page from your plan and started cross training on various different cardio machines/exercises. Stil don't have the patience to do an hour on one at a stretch but, breaking it up has certainly helped me step it up a bit.

Your inspiration...

Thanks JZ & Karl :)

AWESOME JESS!! What a great attitude!!

you ARE doing this!!! As Curvie would say... YOU ROCK and RULE!!! :smash:

Hey!

Man, I'm just drinking up your energy here!!! I remember I felt like that a few months ago, then slid a bit again.

But as of yesterday I've been back on track, running and eating right. I'm so proud of us!!! :hurray:

Thanks for being so inspiring!!

Well done Jes... generally...
I always have to smile when i see you posting because I can't get my brain to read your board-name as go-home-jes, and always read go homejes (with a mexican accent, omeyes...).
Anyhow, you are doing awesome, I wish I had your energy, it takes me all day to muster enough energy to go to the gym/pool at all... but I am going to try to copy Anke and drink your energy up, so that my last 2 weeks prevacation are ferociously sporty!
Thank you for inspiring me anew, Camy

Hey Jes,

I finally got myself caught up on your journal and I see you're still working out like a mad-woman. How do you find time to sleep? The most amazing thing, though, is you getting to the gym so early in the morning. I know that morning workouts are best for cutting weight, but I cannot, for the life of me, wake up THAT early:sleeping:. Maybe you could wake me up every morning? Better yet... Can you just workout for both of us tonight? That would be great. ;)

But seriously... Your workouts are stellar. Keep up the unbelievable work. I CANNOT wait to see new pictures. :D

I think my quote was written especially for you.

Protein shakes, I'm with cabbie on. I manage a gnc for gods sake and I can't stomach most of em! However, get the chocolate caramel, mix it with skim milk(ALWAYS tastes better with milk  ) and blend in a banana. Amazing! I love em, the only way I can really handle it :) Hope you are having a great week!

You guys are amazing :) Thanks for the support.

I'm still alive! I have finals this week and they're just killing me. Just one more left tomorrow. I will update soon guys. AND catch up on everyone's journals soon!

My eating has been pretty bad this week :x BUT, I've still been hitting the gym every day.

OKAY, back to studying. SAVE ME!!! :(
