Nightporter... To the point of no return.

Hello. Yes, it means how many times you lift something. Normally you will do one exercise in sets. I think most people do 3 sets. During those sets you might do it 15 times with 60lbs. What I was saying is....do 3 sets of 30 or more, but with less weight. I am sorry to be confusing. I am not very good at explaining things, it is not you....just ask my boyfriend :) He understands what I am talking about about 50% of the time.

Ok, I am stealing this idea from Miss Kallie's diary to type out my schedule- Thanks, Ms k!!

Noon: Woke up from a horrible dream about school
1:00: Ate breakfast - Pastrami and Cream Cheese
2:00: Checked up on my website, myspace, and this forum
3:00: Went to the Home Depot with my dad
4:30: Started cooking dinner
5:30: Ate dinner- Hamburgers on lettuce
6:30: Bass Practice
10:00: Family movie night- This night's movie a cheesy Steven Segal movie.
Then bed sometime around 2 or 3 AM after pittling around with bass, computers, ETC.

I skipped the Y today- Because today is my relaxing day of the week! I figure I ought to make it Saturday...

I also have another question, I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before- Has anyone else who has done Atkins ever been heavily in Ketosis and not making progress with weight loss? This is happening to my father and I now, and I was wonderng if anyone out there may know a couple of tricks to get us back in gear.

Thanks... -Nightporter-

Thanks Pineola! I get it better now.

Who's your boyfriend? :)

You are cute. My boyfriend's name is Paul. I hate to call him my boyfriend. We have lived together for about 7 years I think...we own a home together, we are co-mingled in every way, so boyfriends always seems so casual. We are not married so he is not really my husband....I guess I could call him my partner. Nothing really fits.

Here is my other boyfriend.

Awesome! We both are in love with musicians! Great minds think alike... LMAO! I'm guessing you already know who my boyfriend is ;)

So cool to hear about you and your partner together for 7 years! Way to go!!

Hello!

Sorry for the delay in postage- But today is Mick Karn's birthday, WAAAHOOO!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ... Ok, Just had to get that out of my system.

So I have been lacking with the Y for the past 3 days... I haven't broken the diet at all though. It's been tough. I'm starting to go crazy! My mom just bought my bro brownies, ice cream, toaster strudel, hot pockets, and Fudge!! My favorite things ever!! And the thing is that my bro is underweight. He's 8 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. He barely eats anything so all those sweets are going to waste!!! (I hate seeing food go to waste) And the only things he ever eats is sugar. My parents say it's good for him and he shouldn't have Splenda so they just get him cracked-out on sugar. I highly disagree with them but they do not listen to me because they are the parents and I am the child. >:-(

Anyway, enough of all the mumbo-jumbo... My dad is going to the doc tomrrow and he's going to ask why he and I have not been losing weight well. I excersize as much as possible ('Cept for the past 3 days) and he excersizes too. (He's currently building a recording studio with his bare hands by himself in our garage so I think that counts!) But he and I have either been gaining a pound or two, or just staying at the weight we have been! When my father got on Atkins a few years ago, he lost 2 pounds a week! Now we can't lose one pound in 2 weeks! Hopefully the doc will be able to help with that- I'm crossing my finger and toes!

I have a question... Lately (Actually, It's been more like the past 6 years) I am tired all of the time. It doesn't matter what time it is, or how much sleep I get, my brain is in a fog, and I could just climb into bed and fall asleep at any given time, I could probably do it right now! And the thing is, I can go to bed at midnight, and wake up at 2 in the afternoon the next day still groggy and tired. I also feel like all of the engery is sucked out of me. I have just never had energy so I can't really tell. I'm even tired when I'm sitting on the sofa watching a film. I just don't get it!! I thought excersizing was going to help, but I was wrong. Does anyone else have this or know what could be wrong with me? I was thinking that perhaps it's why I'm not losing weight (I don't know about my father) But... All this talk about sleep, I think I'm going to go get a nap!!!

the tiredness is one of the sideeffects of the atkins diet- that's supposed to pass eventually... it's the lack of carbs that are energy that make you tired...

Even when I stuffed myself with carbs I was tired. It's a problem I have had ever since I was in Pennsylviania, which I would say was 5 or 6 years ago. Atkins promised a burst of energy after 3 or 4 days of being on the diet... Where's my engery, Atkins!!

-N-

Hey n.... I haven't seen your menu. But If your taking in any carbs the whole atkins thing wont work. Remember the first part of Atkins is straight meat. you have to have 0 carbs for several weeks to get it kick started. If this isn't the case you may need to start some Atkins multi vitamins.... I felt bad but it only lasted ....... it was so long ago but I think it was about 3 days to a week.......

Thanks for the tips, Hillbilly. I have been going a tad over on the carbs (Never over 20 a day though) I guess i do just have to stick to meat, cheese, and salad. I kinda went over I guess with a cup of yogurt. It had 11 carbs!! I'll try and cut it down to the bare minimum and see what it does. As for the multivitamin- I already got that taken care of. Except I ran out of Chromium... Must buy some more of that.

Hi ya -N- :D Have you had your blood sugar or thyroid checked? just a thought :D also, keep your sleeping on a schedule - thats what doc told me a couple years ago. your body doesn't have a chance to "set" itself if you dont keep the same bedtime schedule for atleast a month - yes, even on weekends :D hehehehe Also, try not to get anymore than 8 hours a night for the month of "setting" - too much sleep will create "brainfog" as well.

Other thoughts: make sure you get your water and take a cat nap (not more than an hour) if you get tired in the afternoon.

Hope this helps :D Have a great day! :D

Hey nightporter....or should I say Challenge Winner!!!! Congratulations!!!!

I agree with BizeB...you should have your thyroid checked.

OK, first off....we should eat your brother!

Do you feel depressed or just tired? Sometimes when people are depressed, they can't get enough sleep no matter what. You don't seem like it through your diary, but something to think about if you are.

Keep us posted on your Dad's visit to the Dr. Is your Dad a musician too?

Hi, Pineola!

I agree, but if I ate my bro- he would have too much sugar and knock me out of ketosis! ;-)

I'm not depressed per-se (I hope I spelled that correctly...) But I am very stressed out. School starts next week, and I have drastically changes my image. Last year I looked like a normal fat chick in a hoodie with black hair, and now I have two toned hair and look like a new waver. Based off of the ignorance in my school, people won't react well. I don't really care much, but it is a little... unnerving. And I won't change my appearence for them. No matter what comes my way.

My father is a musician. He has been in more bands then I can count and he plays drums, Keyboards, and guitar. He is very talented and mixes and masters records for artists. My mother is also a musician- She plays almost every woodwind under the sun. her forte' though is the Clarinet and Tenor Sax. I play Tenor Sax, Alto Sax, and Bass.... I took cello lessons for a while, but that was back in my dark, emo, depressed phase when I was a freshmen- Thank goodness I got over that!!

Scarlett- Thank you for the congrats!! Though I feel I owe you a much greater congratulations for the astonishing weight loss you have- 50 pounds!! Man oh man, if I dropped 50 pounds I might just jump off my roof with the belief I could fly - WAY TO GO!!

-Kera-

Hey Nightporter. Thanks for being part of the Termin-Eaters. We rocked.:D I noticed that you are going back to school next week. What are you taking in school? Oh my school days have long since ended. If I knew then what I know now, then I would probably be a professional student right now. ;)

Have a good day.:D

Hi Jodee,

Thank's! And congratulations to you too- Everyone did such a wonderful job.

I don't really know my classes- I signed up for them last Christmas. I'm going to be a senior this year, but I think I'm taking Art 4, Algebra 2 (LMAO with the freshies and sophomores!) Auto Mechanics, Drama 3, and a bunch of other crap. What classes did you take in school?

-K-

I took Shop and all the regular ones. Law, and English were my main two favorites. As for Shop, they (the school) wanted me to do the girl thing and go into Home Ec. But that's for girls I said and being brought up with all brothers, I fought to get into Shop. Well, both me another "girl" student won. We got to rip apart a car motor and put it back together. That was the happiest day of my life. :D We showed the boys what girls could do. ;)

Shop is much more beneficial of a girl to take - back when the dinosaurs walked the earth, my parents fought the school board to let me take shop... they figured what does it matter if i could make an apron (I could already cook at that point) but knowing how a car works - that's important stuff :) theywon and i got to play in grease :) Its a class every girl should take...

Hope you had fun at the gym Nightporter... :) nice to see yourmotivation returning..
