New Here! Wanting to get fit.

Sushi again for lunch today, mmmmm. Not eating out tonight, and tomorrow morning it's back in the gym. I grocery shopped today and spent 100$ - I got a ton of fruit and healthy snacks, wheat bread and good deli meat.

Grocery shopping should be a workout on its own!
 
This morning I was at it for "cardio day" at the gym, and I killed my 3 mile time - last saturday I went 3 miles in 48 minutes and 36 seconds, and today I went 3 miles in 44 minutes and 14 seconds!! I didn't stop there, I went 4 miles in 56 minutes!

I am SO proud of myself. I was really gross by the time i was done, drenched in sweat and i'm sure not smelling the best, but man, there is nothing like the feeling of accomplishment!

I'm going to eat "brunch" today, since it's later then usual (my gym opens at 8 on saturday instead of 5 am like usual). I think some fruit and then some low fat swiss cheese and turkey on triscuits.

Tonight we are going out to Ruth's Chris Steak house and I am SO excited. I'm not going to go nuts, but I'm not going to deny myself either. I feel like I earned it this week! Petite filet anyone?!

Tomorrow is our Tennis day, I'm going to make sure we go for at least 45 minutes - and back on the low cal diet!
 
Brunch: Turkey + low fat swiss on whole wheat toast with mustard, 1/2 serving of baked lays and fruit salad with water.

Now just have to wait until 6 for dinner!
 
Dinner was REALLY good!

I had a lobster tail with butter drizzled on - but it wasn't really excessive. I also had asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The one thing I did eat too much of was the free bread!

When we got home I had 1/2 a pop tart and a healthy choice sorbet bar.

I can't wait until tennis tomorrow! I went and bought a new tennis racket tonight. We were in sports authority and i embarassingly slipped on a puddle of water in their store. I was about to scream lawsuit but then decided I should just be thankful no one saw, lol.

Yesterday was tennis and I ate pretty well. Fiber one cereal for breakfast, turkey sandwich and fruit salad for lunch, and lean pocket for dinner. Snack of triscuits with low fat cheese and turkey. We played tennis for about half an hour, it is SO HOT in florida!

This morning I was in the gym again, I beat my 2 mile time by about 55 seconds! I'm pretty pleased with myself. For lunch I'm bringing a spinach salad with a can of tuna and some crackers.

Tonight my fiancee's mom is cooking dinner, breaded chicken cutlets, so i'll have to have some restraint!
 
You're doing very well! Congratulations. You're destroying your PBs every time you go out it seems. And already 5 lbs gone. Nicely done. Keep it up!
 
Hey there,

I've never been to Ruth Chris's... But i've heard it's very good. My dad and his wife like it a lot. I went out to eat a couple times too this weekend... I try not to go overboard but I don't always stay so good...

Good job on the workouts! I'm really going to try and go running every night this week. I've got to!

Ruth's Chris is definitely very good...but very expensive. It's the kind of thing we can only do like once every 8 months, lol.

Yesterday night I didn't do tooo badly with the chicken cutlets - i had one & a half with a small portion of chicken rice and mac & cheese...ok, so maybe I didn't do that great!

Last night I went and tried on dresses for my Sept "wedding" (we're going to the courthouse and then running away on a cruise) and I found one that I really liked, so that was good news! Go Dillards for inexpensive nice dresses, yeah!!

This morning it was back in the gym again, I did 2 miles in 26 minutes! I sort of inadvertently cheated, though - I started to run and I made it about a lap and a half before I realized that I had forgotten to set my incline up...I notched it up to 3.5 right away, but I still feel bad, like I cheated!! Oh well. My next goal will be to do my 2 miles in 26 minutes with the incline on 3.5 the whole time.

Tomorrow I think we are going to play tennis. I'm not sure if i'll go to the gym also or not.

Breakfast was a bowl of fiber one with a banana, lunch is fresh cherries, an apple, a fiber one bar and a lean pocket (i haven't been able to break the lean pocket habit yet!!).

Dinner will hopefully be something good and low cal!

Your foods sound really good. I need to make me up some fruit salad. I love that stuff. Great job on the running and the tennis. Your doing great!

I didn't go to the gym this morning, I went monday and tuesday and bested my 2 mile times both days - this morning i was just exhausted and a bit sore. I figured since we are playing tennis tonight it would be OK to take the morning off from the gym. Tomorrow morning I will be right back in there though!

Last night we ended up going out to eat with my future in-laws. I had some bread (not so good) and a ceasar salad with ahi tuna on it, dressing on the side. The salad had cheese and croutons and lots of bad things on it - but it was oh so good.

Breakfast this morning was Fiber One with a banana and a multivitamin. Lunch will be Healthy Choice Minestrone soup with 6 triscuits, a mini whole wheat bagel, fresh cherries, and a fiber one bar.

Dinner will hopefully be something that we already have in the house that is not bad for me, lol. I can't wait til tennis tonight! And I can't wait to get back in the gym tomorrow. I feel a little guilty that I didn't go this morning, but I guess my body deserves a break. As long as I am going 5x a week I think i will be OK.

Yesterday was not a good day. I was stressed out about something at work, and i ate an extra bag of pretzels that I hadn't planned on. We played tennis for about 1/2 an hour...i just find that if i skip the gym i am so sluggish the rest of the day..I know i didn't do as much as I could have.

Dinner was a morningstar farms veggie chiken patty on a whole wheat hamburger bun, a large fruit salad and a few seasame pretzel chips (so good). I also sneaked 2 of my fiance's tater tots and had a skinny cow ice cream sandwich for dessert.

This morning I dragged myself back in the gym and did my 2 miles (26 minutes again) and tried to do some weight lifting/weight machines but i didn't feel like I wanted to do them at all. It's almost that time of the month so i think i can attribute some of my laziness to pms.

In other news, i was able to put on a skirt future my mother in law handed down to me that i couldn't put on a month ago, so that was nice. I'm from the era of "pants and skirts that rest really low on the hips" so it's strange to have a skirt that is meant to be high up on the waist... but its nice that I can fit in it!

Breakfast today was banana bread healthy weight instant oatmeal (not that good) and a multivitamin. Lunch will be a Healthy Choice grilled chicken artichoke pannini, an apple, a few of the seasame pretzel chips and a fiber one bar. Snack will be a quaker oats cereal bar.

It's thursday so dinner is sushi! I'm going to try to get something healthier than my usual tempura shrimp roll with avacado, cream cheese and sweet sauce. Maybe just some edamame and a california roll or something. We'll see, i have no willpower around sushi.
 
Well, didn't do great with the sushi, lol. Had miso soup and my shrimp tempura roll with a spicy tuna handroll. Then when I got home I had a skinny cow ice cream sandwich and a few of my favorite sesame pretzels.

After that, my fiance wanted to go play tennis, so we went for about 25 minutes-so yay for extra exercise!

This morning I went to the gym and did my 2miles, didn't beat my time - I raised my incline to 4.5 for the second mile and did the 2 miles in 27 minutes. My body feels exhausted. Tonight we will probably play a little more tennis and then tomorrow it's cardio day at the gym.

Breakfast today was a bowl of fiber one cereal and 1/2 of a thomas's mini whole wheat bagel.

Lunch will be a lean pocket + an apple, small bag of mixed honey oat life, baked bbq chips and the last remaning seasame pretzels, and a 100 calorie pack of chips ahoy. Snack will be a quaker oats breakfast bar and who knows what dinner will be!
 
Dinner turned out to be Benihana....I had chicken and fried rice, oh boy. I'm waiting for my gym to open so I can go run an extra mile to make up for it lol.
 
Yesterday i went my first 5 miles at the gym!

3 mile time: 40 minutes
4 mile time: 54 minutes
5 mile time: 67 minutes

I ate decently yesterday, i ended up skipping breakfast because i wanted to go grocery shopping before I ate. I had a turkey sandwich for lunch with fruit salad and some baked chips with a fiber one bar for dessert. Dinner was sushi, a california roll, edamame, a spicy tuna hand roll and 2 pieces of salmon sushi. Unfortunately we went to gameworks and i cheated with 1 potato skin, 1/2 a chicken tender and the inside of a thai chicken roll. :X

Today I didn't exercise, I had fiber 1 for breakfast with a banana, turkey sandwich for lunch with more fruit and baked chips and my fiber one granola bar. snack today was 5 triscuits with low fat swiss cheese and turkey with avacado slices. Dinner will be lean pocket with cantelope and I might make some cousous!

This morning I did my 2 miles again in 26 minutes. I'm trying a new thing when I run on the treadmill - I run 2 minutes, walk a minute and a half, run 2 minutes, walk a minute and a half...I think it's pretty effective. I also realized that covering up the treadmill screen is beneficial as well. I try not to peek until I think my 2 minute run is up.

I did 50 crunches today, they have this inverted bench thing with a bar to put your feet underneath so when you're lying back you are lying WAY back (i'm sure you know what i'm talking about)...I was embarrassed because the other day when I laid down on it and tried to do a sit up from the furthest down position I couldn't get up! So now i just lean back as far as I can while still making sure I will be able to get myself up, lol.

I weighed myself today and didn't really see much improvement. Plateau maybe? The scale is stuck at 125 1/2. This week I'm supposed to get my period, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, breakfast was my fiber one with a banana + vitamin, lunch will either be sushi (if my friend comes to eat with me - I'd get healthy stuff though!) or a healthy choice minestrone soup with an apple and baked chips + fiber one bar. My fiance's mother cooks tonight and she is making pasta, so I'm going to try to go easy on it at dinner and also try to skip the garlic bread.
 
Today didn't go as planned. Went for sushi but didn't eat healthy. Had edamame, spicy crab roll (crab & tempura inside) + miso soup and spicy tuna hand roll.

Ate my apple and fiber one bar as a snack.

Will try my best to be good at dinner. Eat slowly dawn!!!
 
I did pretty well at dinner, not too much food. I mostly ate chicken with tomato sauce, when I got home I had a skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

This morning I did my 2 miles in....ta da - 25 minutes and 20 seconds!! I am SO pleased with myself :). I also did 50 sit ups and used the leg machines.

Breakfast was weight smart banana bread instant oatmeal and some cantelope.

Lunch will be a turkey sandwich with low fat swiss cheese on whole wheat bread with some avocado slices, an apple, baked chips (i love them too much) and a fiber one bar.

I hope dinner will be Ok!
 
Great job on all that work at the gym!

I must admit I like to cover up the time on the treadmill with a towel, especially when I run long distances. I would just count songs on my ipod, and I think it was beneficial..

I'm now more into running intervals on the treadmill when I go run on there. I run for about 5 minutes, and then walk for 2 or 3... I do this for about 30 minutes, then switch over to the crosstrainer so I can really crank it up and work my leg muscles. If your gym has a crosstrainer I highly recommend it. Its a good workout. Kind of a cross between the elliptical and the stairmaster.

Last night dinner was a lean pocket (3 cheese & broccoli) and 1/2 a serving of baked lays (i am addicted) with cantelope and a salad of romaine lettuce and avacado - but after that the fiance wanted taco bell so I went with him and ate half of a ranchero fresco chicken soft taco. Supposed to be not that bad for you, but I still felt awful about it! I skipped my skinny cow ice cream sandwich but did steal 1/2 of a pop tart to satisfy my sweet tooth.

This morning i was back at it as usual and i did my 2 miles in....25 minutes! I thought I was going to die just like normal when I push myself - but man, I am psyched! I can ALMOST jog a whole mile!

Breakfast was fiber one this morning, I am out of bananas :(.

Lunch should be sushi if my best friend comes to visit me like she says she will - I'm going to go for a california roll, edamame, and a spicy tuna handroll. If she doesn't make it to eat with me I brought a back-up lean pocket with some dried fruit (i am out of fresh fruit at home!) and 5 honey wheat pretzel sticks. I brought a kashi go lean protein bar for a snack. Don't know what dinner will be yet!

My period is coming and I feel bloated and also very moody. =( I'm not sure what I'll do about working out, I don't like running on the treadmill when it's that time of the month, but no way am I going to stop the working out - it's routine now.
