My Second Shot

Meatloaf with real meat? or was this a vegetarian variety? Not that there's anyhting wrong with real meat.. I love me some moo-cow :D

It's real cow. I'm trying for vegetarianism eventually because I think factory farms are cruel and that as a Buddhist I should at least be striving to eat less meat.

I want to eat mostly plants. It's just difficult because I also think that pigs, chickens, and cows are delicious...damned scrumptious greasy crunchy animals!

The meatloaf is the one my cousin's fiance made last night for dinner. It was great then and it was awesome the second time. And he even forgot to put eggs in it and was freaking out. :D

We raise our own beef and pork. You would be surprised how lean it is. When you buy ground beef in the store, they add pork fat to it. YUK
Hence the term Hamburger.
Pure ground beef that has had the fat cut off before grinding is a whole new experience for most people.

The ground beef he used for the meatloaf was actually advertised as lean beef, so I don't feel too guilty as far as the diet thing goes.

As far as eating an animal, I still feel a little guilty.

But man. That was tasty.

Hence the term Hamburger.

The term hamburger comes from the city of Hamburg, in Germany. It has nothing to do with hams or pigs. Adulterating meat with products from species not indicated on the labels is a violation of USDA regulations, and likely state law, so is extremely unlikely to happen intentionally.

That said, most meat that's ground on-premises contains species other than what's on the label, not necessarily because it's being intentionally adulterated, but because it's a pain to clean the grinder between batches. So you run a batch of Ground Animal One, then a batch of Ground Animal Two, and some of the leftovers from One end up in Two.

Mmm, I love me some moo-cow, too. Although pig is good, too...
Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

Happy belated!! My b-day was the 4th!!! :D

Wow your job and goals are awesome, I so need to find a job writing or editing. I'm very impressed! :)

Have a great goal reachin' week!

Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater.

Thanks Curvie! :D

I have to say I splurged a little on the snackage today. There was a black forest cake that was calling my name.

I only had a tiny piece though, so I don't feel too bad about it. And I'm going to the gym after work, which will make me feel even better.

No prob Iwan!

Exercise:
treadclimber, 20 min, 250 calories burned

I cut my gym session short because I thought my cousin and her fiance were coming to dinner, and now she's waffling on me about whether she's coming or not. I hate it when people are wishy-washy.

But at least I did go to the gym though. So that's three gym days in a row. :D

Hey--one slice of cake is hardly splurging, unless you already "spent" your calorie allowance for the day. We can eat pretty much what we want as long as there's a deficit, but yeah, it's best to save the goodies for rare occasions :)

Nah, I still have calories to spare. :D

I do wish I hadn't eaten it though. It didn't taste that great after sitting in the fridge for a week. :puke:

My cousin and her fiance aren't coming, which is kind of a relief and kind of irritating. I needed a break from people, but I'd already laid out three chicken breasts.

Oh well. I'll have leftovers. It's just a throw-together meal anyway. A little garlic pepper, a little lemon pepper, thyme and sea salt, plus a can of cream of celery soup. I'm sure it'll be yummy though.

Hey there :)

Thought I would stop in and say hello. I've seen you on here for awhile. Your doing great with your gym sessions and eating. I gotta make it to the gym after work tonite, I just hate fighting the Monday night crowds, lol...

Hey Maverick! Thanks for stoppin by my page, I always need the support :) I read thru some of your diary and you seem to be doing a pretty killer job so far, the talk of meatloaf made me soooo hungry for it! Keep up the great work :D

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Well, I bounced up two pounds on the scale this morning. Boo. Good thing I know that weight fluctuates. :D

Fortunately, I continue to see improvement in the mirror, which is where I really look for it anyway, because if I looked lean and muscular and weighed 200 pounds I wouldn't care at all. My legs seem much slimmer today and I must say, my butt is starting to look good! I also see new contours in my arms that weren't there before. (Well, they were there last year when I was lifting weights, but it's been awhile since I've seen my missing muscles!) My face is also changing.

I want to start a strength routine at the gym, but tonight I'm having my parents over for dinner, which means I'm going to have to rush through my gym session after work (again). I really need to start getting up at five and going in the morning, but I haven't steeled myself for it yet.

Dinner (last night)
- 1 bone-in chicken breast in cream of celery soup
- 1 baked potato
- tangerine
- water

High weight: 201.5
Low weight: 193.5
Current weight: 195.5
Goal weight: 140.0

Good thing I sit down all day.

I'm thinking it's time to buy some new pants. Ass-baggy pants as indicator of lost inches? Good. Ass-baggy pants as indicator of fashion sense? Not so good. I didn't realize how loose these were until I was already running out the door, and by then it was too late. My mornings are hectic because I don't leave myself enough time before work. That's definitely something I'm going to need to start working on.

I need some socks badly too. I don't usually wear socks because for about 3/4ths of the year it's warm enough to wear open-toed shoes here, and my sock population has slowly decreased over the last few months. (I don't know where those little suckers disappear to when I'm not wearing them...)

So I think I might need to stop by Target and pick up a new pair of jeans and a bag of socks. Because these pants feel like they're constantly falling down.

Which is good. And bad. :D

always a good thing to have that clothes that fit your current body... that way you've got no excuses or reasons to backslide... and you keep going forward...

Hit up the clearance racks at various stores... you will probably get some good bargains..
