My Second Shot

I need groceries.

So I didn't have anything available for breakfast or lunch. I was running out the door this morning, so I had to scavenge.

Breakfast:
- 2 strawberry Nutrigrain bars (all I had in the office...)
- water (16 oz.)

I could have eaten leftover chicken for lunch, but I was short on time and really not feeling a hot meal. So I made a virgin Bloody Mary instead and I'm drinking that for lunch. The amount of sodium in this "meal" is probably dispicable, but I have to say its hitting the spot nicely. I've discovered the capsacin is in the habaneros is awesome at reducing my appetite.

Lunch:
- 12 oz. Bloody Virgin
- 2 sticks of celery
- 8 oz. water

I'm trying to conserve some calories for tonight because we're having chili and hot dogs, which is one of my favorite meals. Yes, that's right, I'm drinking half a bottle of Bloody Mary mix and having chili in the same day. I do have a stomach made of titanium alloy. :D

I don't think I'm going to make it to the gym tonight, but I'm holding out hope. I still haven't even been to the grocery store to get stuff to make dinner for my parents yet.

At least I'll be able to pick up some meal replacements while I'm at the store. I want a brand of protein shakes and to also see if some spicy V8 might be a little less sodium-intensive than Bloody Mary mix...

Try drinking raw eggs--cheap and nutritious and they won't make you want to eat anything for a WHILE! LOL

Hope you get time to grocery shop! I was up until 1am doing laundry, time is of the essence....

Curvie: Ugh, I dunno about that. I have a pretty strong gag reflex. I'm not so worried about the taste as I am about the texture...but I might try it one of these mornings. Maybe a weekend, so if I puke my guts out it won't be as big of a deal. :D

Well, I went grocery shopping last night and made dinner for my parents.

Dinner:
- 2 hot dogs on white buns w/ ketchup and mustard
- a few bites of chili with shredded cheddar cheese mixed in (it was out of the can, so it wasn't very good, and I'm sure not good for you)
- salad (lettuce, cherry tomatoes, carrots) with thousand island dressing
- two glasses of strawberry zinfandel

I feel bad about the hot dogs because they're terrible for you, but I know I didn't get many calories at breakfast or lunch yesterday, so I didn't feel too bad about it. And the wine was an excellent treat.

On the other hand, I didn't get to go to the gym, so that was a bummer. I'll definitely go this afternoon though since I'm not obligated to have anyone over. I may even leave work a little early (to beat the gym crowds) and make it a weight day today.

I got lots of great stuff at the grocery store, including some experimental items like Laughing Cow cheese wedges, some vegan hotdogs, and some veggie burgers. I also got my staples - skim milk, mixed berries, grapes, carrots, tomatoes, wheat pitas, and lowfat lunchmeat, just to name a few things. I meant to grab some boneless chicken, but that's okay - I think I'm going to try and eat cereal for dinner whenever I don't have someone over, at least until my next payday.

Also picked up a novel - Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I don't know anything about it really (except that it's about a girl who falls in love with a vampire), but I read on Amazon earlier yesterday it was supposedly really good, so when I saw it in the grocery store I nabbed it.

I had one of the Laughing Cow wedges this morning (Garlic and Herb) and was very pleasantly surprised. Despite being a "light" food, it was totally delicious and satisfying. I ate it on four wheat crackers. Hopefully the vegan stuff will be as good!

Breakfast (still munching):
- bowl of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes)
- 4 wheat crackers
- 1 wedge Laughing Cow cheese (SO yummy!)

I feel like I ate too much salt yesterday, so I'm going to be certain to get at least 10 glasses of water today. I'm already working on my second one. I was bad about securing a good breakfast and lunch too (Bloody Mary mix? Yeesh!) so I made sure I had something healthy to eat for both of those meals today, as well as some healthy snacks. :coolgleamA:

I'm avoiding the scale too, because I don't want to get hung up on a number. (Checking the scale was starting to become an obsessive tic for me.) I'm just going to try on a pair of 12 pants every morning until one day I can wear them comfortably to work. I may weigh in again on Sunday after a few more gym sessions, but we'll see.

I'm so in love with Laughing Cow right now though.

Twilight is a series of books... that being the first one in the series...

the newest book in the series just got released to very good reviews (borders book store had pre-orders of the book available... and had a big waiting lsit for it)

happy reading.. .

Yeah, I heard about all the vampire parties in Manhattan when it came out, that's what made me curious. I haven't bought a new book in awhile, so I'm looking forward to it.

Plus I heart me some vampires. I'm a Stephen King/Anne Rice/Laurell K. Hamilton fan from back in the day.

Thanks!

I gave up on book series after waiting forever for the next book in the Dark Tower series by stephen king... I got to thepoint where i'll wait for all the books to come out -then read them :D

OMG, the Dark Tower series took FOR-EVER to come out.

And I am ashamed to admit it, but when I heard that Stephen King got ran over by a van, my first thought was, "Dammit! Now I'll NEVER know what happens to Roland!!!!!!!" :(

(I'm glad he's okay though. Stephen King rocks my socks.)

Snackage (mid-morning)

- 1 wedge Garlic and Herb Laughing Cow cheese
- 4 wheat crackers

I'm gonna eat fruit for my afternoon snack, but I just had to have another one of those Laughing Cows. YUM. :drool5:

Hey Mav, the Dark Tower series was awesome! It only took me 12 years to finally finish it! Lol!

Go to laughingcow.com for recipes to make with the chees wedges. I made the baked tilapia with the creamy sauce (2 wedges) and it was delish! I have it weekly now.

Thanks for stopping by my diary!!

Amy: Thanks for the tip!

Focus: You heartless bastard. :D But I have to say, I do enjoy that Family Guy episode where Brian runs over Dean Koontz, and when he finds out it's Dean Koontz and not Stephen King, runs him over again. :rotflmao:

Had a good little lunch at the house.

Lunch:
- 1 wheat pita round w/ cracked pepper turkey slices
- 1 homegrown tomato
- water w/ lime juice

I think I'm within my optimal water intake range, because I've had that squirmy I-don't-have-to-pee-yet-but-I-know-it's-gonna-be-soon feeling all day long. Man I'll be glad when my body adjusts to taking in at least 64 oz. of water a day...

Yiah yiah with the water!

I have been reading a lot about pitas in this forum lately, even though Sammy was sayin' the one he made "tasted like shit" for some reason I want to go out and buy whole wheat pita bread and made some....pitas. Tuna, that's what I'll do. Have an excellent day!

I think pitas are excellent. :D Sometimes I'm tempted to make two sandwiches with regular bread, and it's cheap because it's just loaf bread. Double the calories, double the carbs, not to mention what I put in them...not good.

But pitas are a little pricier and they just seem bigger, so one is always good enough and I'm a little more stingy about eating them because I don't want to go through my whole supply in just a few days (I only go to the grocery store about once every two weeks).

I don't even bother to try and open the pockets though. I just layer lunchmeats and veggies on top and eat them like a pizza.

And actually, I think a pita pizza would be pretty tasty for supper some night soon. I'm going to have to try and make one since I have the ingredients. :drool5:

Thanks for stopping by!

the hungry girl website has had a recipe forever -called hungrygirlfredo...

that's basically laughing cow cheese wedges w/ the shiritake noodles..

add a bunch of garlic and some basil to it and it's not bad..

Sounds delicious! I really do love Laughing Cow. I kind of tasted it at first with that "Ewww, diet food" mentality, but I was really amazed at how good it tastes.

I would totally be their spokesperson.

But I didn't even realize it was a French company. A French company making cheese? No wonder it's awesome. :D

I'm already craving another one for my afternoon snack later, but I don't want to go overboard with cheese as a snack (it is still not great for you), so I'll have fruit instead.

I used to make pita pizza that were about 400 calories each and filling enough to have just one! Word, I am so going to go grocery shopping this evening :D

Snackage (afternoon)

Afternoon snack:
- 1 tangerine
- water

I wasn't very hungry for a snack after my pita-tastic lunch, so I just ate a piece of fruit. I'm going jean shopping after work, but after I get back from doing that I *will* be going to the gym.

And I think it's going to be a cereal night. I've got too much laundry to do to cook.

So I ended up having a real dinner instead of cereal because I wanted to test out my vegan hot dogs. To my surprise, they taste pretty similar to actual hot dogs, even though the texture is a little off. Slathered up with ketchup and mustard, the average person probably couldn't tell the difference. And for 3.5 grams of fat (and 8 grams of protein!) versus 17 grams of fat for a regular hot dog, I'm a very happy camper.

Dinner:
- two vegan hot dogs w/ white bread buns, ketchup and mustard
- a tangerine
- water

I also managed to make it to the gym, even though I'm working on my gigantic mountain of laundry.

Exercise:
- Nautilus Treadclimber, 25 minutes, 300 calories burned

And now I need a shower! :D

Last night I went shopping with my mom and got some new pants that actually fit. I'm down a size! Woohoo!!!

And what's even better, the pair of pants I bought yesterday that were a little tight are actually a lot more comfortable to wear today (comfortable enough to sit down for eight hours in, unlike yesterday when they were just an itsy bit too tight to wear yet). I'm guessing it's because I've lost some body mass since yesterday's workout.

This morning I didn't get up an hour earlier like I wanted to, and when I did get up I found out that the dog had shat in middle of the carpet last night after I went to bed. And it was loose stools too.

Not only did he crap in the house, the dog actually hid it to avoid getting in trouble. No joke. I had piles of laundry out in the dining room floor, he had the accident near them, and apparently pulled out a piece of white laundry to hide it with, because it was under one lone shirt he had obviously dragged over. I'm sure it looked very subtly done to him. (He wasn't in trouble, of course.)

I do I have white carpets though, and he "disguised" his mess with a white shirt. Thankfully not one of my good ones. I was obviously hyperventilating at this point.

But I calmed down long enough to use my shirt to pick the mess up a little (it got thrown away) and google a solution. I mixed two cups of vinegar and two cups of water and put that over the stain (let it sit fifteen minutes), then blotted it up. It took two rags (also thrown away) and some Resolve(tm), but the stain is totally gone. And so is the smell. Thank God.

I know you're asking yourself, "How could you stand to eat breakfast after cleaning up dogshit all morning?" And the answer is this: I worked in a city animal shelter for three months when I was in college. I cleaned up after bloody, shitty parvo plagues and tossed frozen dogs and cats into a flatbed all summer in three digit temperatures.

So that being said, here's my breakfast. :D

Breakfast:
- bowl of grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries (w/ 3 cherry tomatoes)
- a tangerine
- a Laughing Cow cheese wedge (Garlic & Herb) with
- 4 wheat crackers
- water

I'm proud of myself for going to the gym yesterday, and I'm happy with the results. My cousins and my cousin's fiance are coming over for dinner tonight, so hopefully I can get them out of the house early enough for me to go again.

Regretting that snack.

Morning snack:
- Laughing Cow cheese wedge
- 4 wheat crackers

My office went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch today. I got the Delicious Steak, and it was pretty delicious. :D

Lunch:
- flat iron steak (slightly bigger than palm) covered with salsa
- few bites of Spanish rice
- few bites of refried beans w/ cheese
- tortilla chips w/ queso dip and salsa
- 3 fresh tortillas
- sweet iced tea

It was really good, but now I'm miserably full. Since I started eating small meals throughout the day, I'm not used to eating that much anymore...

I'm having company for dinner tonight, which irks me (especially since the invitee backed out last time and left me with two thawed pieces of chicken I couldn't eat by myself).

If I was alone I could just eat some cereal, hit the gym, and feel significantly better about myself. Now I'm going to have to make a roast (the only food item I have enough of in my freezer to feed everyone). :banghead:

I don't think I'm going to eat any though. I will probably just have a salad...I can't even contemplate any more food at the moment. I'm officially cheesed out for the day.

Ugh.
