My journey to good health

Today i did an insane amount of exercise. It wasn't exactly on purpose...i was supposed to go for a walk yesterday with a friend, but she postponed until today (which is fine). But I also went to a gym class, and walked to the gym. So it added up!

A fun thing is that I used my heart rate monitor today, which i hadn't used for a couple years. It is a really good one. So i actually know how many calories i burned walking to the gym, and at my gym class. I didn't have it on for my walk with my friend though.

Walk to gym - 23 minutes, 229 calories
Zumba class- 42 minutes, 556 calories

Walk with friend - 45 minutes, ~350 calories (estimate).

So i burned a ton of calories exercising today. I am not sure how much exercising i'll get done the next little while as family is coming into town for a few days. I hope to still get it done.

So far i've only eaten 1660 calories, which isn't much especially considering the amount of exercise i did today. I will likely eat some more later tonight.

Oooh, I want a heart rate monitor. How expensive are those, generally and where can you find them? I could just google it really... *googles* Ah, I feel suddenly very poor.

Good grief, you burned like 1100 calories! I'm just in awe. That's an amazing amount of calories burned. Aaaah. I must. work. harder. :D

I keep hearing about zumba and so many people love it but I've never done it myself before. I'm really going to have to check it out sometime.

Honestly i can see why people are so into zumba...it is really fun and encourages you to try harder...because the crazier your movements the more fun you have! I can't wait to go again!

I have a polar heart rate monitor...it was a christmas gift one year from my parents, back when i was super into exercise a few years ago :) My L/XL chest band thing is tightish now (on largest setting)...and that is unisex..but i know it will get better and i don't think they come larger.

It's like any dance workout. You fool yourself into thinking you're having a good time and you really are. It just can't be work. :)

I guess if the band is tight, that's another motivator to make it fit better. :) Yay motivators!

Yep for sure! It isn't so tight that i can't wear it (afterall it is supposed to be tight) but it is slightly more tight than i would want for comfort.

Not feeling well today (TOM).

Ugh still feeling crappy and company coming likely within an hour or two :( At least the house is clean but i'm still doing some laundry i have to deal with, and i can't exactly take a nap. Sigh.

That is not the pizza i ate from lunch, it was from a restaurant and made from scratch there so i imagine the calories are likely lower than that. I was at a BBQ tonight and avoiding the majority of the food there, eating small bits, and had a bagel, PB and a peach when i got home.

Ah, that is nice, isn't it? :D I had the same experience and also questioned whether or not it was genuine. Haha. I wonder how much weight we have to lose before we start fully accepting it as a compliment? ;)

Also, terrific job on resisting BBQ temptations. :)

It is nice and keep it up. As my journey I prefer exercise as Yoga and diet food to maintain my physics regularly. It helps to fresh the mind whole day and increase the concentration power.

LOL yes that is a good question...i guess i don't see too much of a difference myself yet, and not even TOO much of a difference with how clothes fit. My jeans are a bit looser. I think another 10lbs and my clothes will be quite a bit baggier (and i'll be able to wear many more of them!)

Thank you :)

Today is official weigh in day:

270.8 lbs

Down 2.4 lbs from last week! I am excited, very close to being under 270lbs again! I am hopeful for next week since I have TOM right now which always adds on a few lbs.

Thanks :) It is funny, last year I was horrified to be 270 lbs (no offense to anyone, was just a number i hadn't ever seen before), and now i am excited. I can't wait to keep losing. This winter I hope to be able to wear many of the sweaters which have been too small for so long!

No offense taken, it's understandable. :) It's funny how the same number is so terrifying on the way up and a celebration on the way back down. :) Yay 270! :D

Thanks Jana :)

Aww, I hope you're feeling better... It seems like you haven't been feeling well overall this week?

Even though you had seconds, you still did really well with your calorie count for the day. 1838 calories is just fine. :) Sometimes it is okay to indulge a bit when there's room for it.

I think I am feeling better...TOM Is giving me a beating this month :( Thanks for asking :)

And definitely there was room to indulge! I was considering either having seconds or getting a dessert, and i think i made the far better choice (having another corn cob and fish fillet).

I am pretty darn proud of myself right now. We went out for supper to a really good pasta place with a bunch of family that is in town. I read through the menu, weighing my options. I really wanted pasta (obviously) but if i got what i wanted, it would be a creamy sauce and tons of calories. So i avoided the pasta. Then i thought i'd get a salmon and substitute the pasta on the side with a salad. However i was worried about how they'd cook the salmon (likely unhealthy) and the sauce on the salmon. So i ended up ordering a garden salad, with dressing on the side, and a grilled pesto marinated chicken breast. It was really good actually, and I think it was the healthiest choice on the menu, ,aside from getting just the garden salad with no chicken on it (but i like protein, lol). I also had a glass of wine, which i felt i could enjoy guilt free due to my good choices with the meal.

I really feel like my perception of food is changing. Yes i still love and enjoy food, but i weigh my options with what i eat now. I didn't feel like indulging today, so i chose carefully, when the 10 other people i was eating with had pasta in delicious thick sauces, i was munching on a salad. Sometimes I feel silly doing so, but it is for my health afterall.

Anyway, sorry for blabbing on. I also walked for 30 minutes today, and walked up and down 8 flights of stairs (in a row).
