My journey to a lifestyle and body change! :)

You are far tougher than I!! I probably would've called it a night if men came in. LOL Huge kudos to you! :)

Haha! Thank you, but it was horrible!!!! I was very uncomfortable the whole time but I am going to look at it as a mentally strengthening exercise while I was strengthening my body. :) I wanted to run out of there so badly though!! :leaving:

Hi Nim!! Congrats on your great work!! You're doing an awesome job so far!

I go to the gym here in town. There aren't usually too many people. But when there are, I ignore them. I take my headphones and my MP3 player and escape to my own little world! It works for me. I have bad anxiety. So, that's the only way I can make it through!

I also find that making a lot of small goals for myself instead of one big goal helps keep me motivated. My first goal was to get back under 200 lbs. My next goal was to hit 20 lbs lost. Both of which I've achieved. :) now my next goal is to hit the 180s! I try not to look at the big picture too much. That just frustrates me because I want to get there as fast as possible. Instead I just take my time and celebrate the small achievements!

Anyways- I hope I've helped a little. And good luck on your goals and your motivation to workout!!! :)

Thanks Br!na, it sounds like we do some similar stuff. My gym is in the building I live in and is free and also has free wifi so Instead of listening to music, I take my tablet, connect to Netflix and watch a show or a movie while I work out. Love it! Guilt free TV watching, basically. :)

Regarding mini goals, I discovered them this time around! Haha! We're going on a beach vacation in January and my mini goal is to lose a little over 25 lbs by that time. When I started, that was roughly 2 lbs a week so I thought it was do-able. What do u do to celebrate your small achievements? I usually reward myself with food but that's probably not the best thing to do. :/ I want to reward myself when I've lost 10lbs. :)
~~~
So this morning I'm super happy. I weighed in at 157.9!! I broke the 158 barrier. :) Thursdays are a super long day for me so I'm not sure I'll be able to get to the gym today. But I'll eat really clean and not cheat to make up for that. :)
Congrats on another drop! :)
I used to treat myself with food too, but realized that's really defeating the purpose. LOL So, now my treats are usually to get a new piece of clothing or two. I used to hate clothes shopping, but I'm *starting* to like it. I think I have more weight to lose before I can completely say that I enjoy.
Clothing is a good treat! I like to get new workout clothes! It's a treat and a motivation all in one! :) I don't like to use food. It's not a good idea. But something small and helpful will do. Maybe some new headbands, or sweat bands to wear when you work out. Or a new pair of leggings to work out in. (Am I the only one who loves working out in leggings? Lol) either way, just treat yourself to something small and something that's not edible. Haha! :)
*edit* I forgot to say.... Congratulations on your drop!! :)
YAY! You are doing awesome! And good job finishing your workout! I totally would have cut-out early, but that's why I no longer have a gym membership :) Not sure what I'll do when they finally hire another person here because I may not be able to do my after work work-outs anymore LOL.
Thanks so much everyone for the advice and tips. If I reach 155 by the time we go to Ireland, I'll treat myself to some new workout clothes. :)
Unfortunately, I was back up to 158.3 today but I think that's water cos my wedding rings were so tight and almost impossible to take off this morning. We are heading to myrtle beach today for the weekend to see some friends and to celebrate our 7th anniversary. :) It's going to be difficult but I want to eat as well as I can and continue to avoid alcohol. I have booked a beach front apartment for two nights as a surprise for my hubby. He has no idea. Can't wait!! Our anniversary is on the 13th. I may treat myself to a glass of champagne to celebrate that day, but that's it. No other cheats. :) I'm totally bringing my bathroom scales with me......
The anniversary weekend was fab. The surprise for my hubby went perfectly. I only cheated once and that was on the eve of our little anniversary party. A glass of champagne, a glass of wine and some cheat worthy snacks. :) Had such a great time and wouldn't change a thing. :)
Weighed in at 157.8 this morn, which isn't bad, considering. I'm pretty sure that's water weight anyway, cos I didn't drink a drop yesterday. And in the evening with dinner I had about 5 large glasses of diet coke and that's a diuretic so I'm probably retaining water. And I haven't worked out since Wednesday!! Gotta make up for that today. All in all through, Im feeling good.
Hope everyone has a good week. X
I'm happy to hear your weekend went so well. Sounds like you had a lot of fun and made some special memories in the process. Glad to see your weight didn't go up too! Congrats on that. :)
Unfortunately, I don't have any remedies for heartburn. I used to get it all the time, but haven't had it in years. I used to just eat Tums. Blah!
156.7 this morning! Stoked!
Athala, yes I meant heartburn, sorry. I ended up just drinking some fat free milk and that helped a little.
Mandy, thank you! Yeah it was really lovely. :) I think I might get myself some tums to have in hand just in case. Do they really work?
Tums worked for me, but they tasted very chalky and left a pretty gross after taste. I hated them, but yeah they worked. I hope you're doing better.
156.4 this morning! :) didn't eat great yesterday, or drink enough water. My hubby is away in NYC for a couple days so I comfort ate cos of missing him. At least I still lost a wee but. There's a difference with my binge eating this time around. Every other time I would just eat eat eat all day long and completely give up no matter what progress I'd made. This time, when I do cheat, it's controlled! I measure out the the amount/portion size of chocolate and just eat that, instead of just mindlessly hacking away at the whole bag. I've tried really hard to adjust my attitude and thinking toward dieting and weight loss this time and it seems that it's truly working. This is the longest I've ever gone in a diet and I'm completely committed to succeeding this time. Can't wait to see the results.
My support system is much better now too. I have this forum. I have 2 friends that I weigh in weekly with; one on Tuesdays and one on Fridays. And my husband is so proud of the progress that I've made and he compliments me and that means the world!
I've also made a few mini goals. I want to be as close to 150 as possible when we go to Ireland at the end of the month. I've cut out all alcohol but when I reach 145 I'm allowing myself a beer. :) Another goal is to be in the 130's when we go to the Dominican Republic in January. To me all these goals are way more attainable than a whopping 50lbs. And when you reach a Mimi goal you feel great cos you've accomplished something and that compels you to carry one.
I hope everyone is having a good week. It's almost Friday!! Woohoo!!
This is too weird! You're going to the Dominican in Jan? I'm going in March! Probably for a much different reason though. I'm going with my mother and another mom/daughter couple to snorkel with Humpback Whales. We'll be at sea the entire week on a boat. This will be my first real vacation so I'm absolutely psyched to go! The best part is that the whales we're going to see are the same whales we see on our whale watching trips here so we may see some of "our" whales. That's another part of why I'm trying to lose weight too. Firstly was for my health, but as my friend put it, we want to be "wet suit ready" too. :)
Good job on controling that junk food. I still struggle with that... big time! I'm getting better, but still have a hard time with it.
That is soooo cool!! Man, I'd love to snorkel whale watch! I hope you recognize your whales! I'm so excited for you. That's gonna be awesome! We're just staying in a resort. Do u think if we did an excursion we'd see whales in January? We saw one from the beach in Saint Martin in a January a few years ago and it was unforgettable. It was the most awesome fluke experiences ever! It was incredible!
155.5 this morning! :) I have a docs appt this morn for my annual physical. Yippee.:ack2: Can't wait to tell the doc I've lost 9 lbs. I'm still heavier than I was last year but who cares. It's progress and I'm proud of it. I've broken my record for weight lost on a diet before giving up. My previous record was 8. But this time I'm not giving up. :)
So after the horrifying physical and because I broke my previous weight loss record, I decided to treat myself to a trip to my favorite store, Clothes Mentor. :) I spent $180 and got 3 pairs of leather knee high boots, 3 tops, 2 leather belts, 2 pairs of jeans and 3 jackets and a gorgeous plum colored cashmere scarf. :hurray: Feeling good. Now for some breakfast!!!
