My fresh start

Hey all

I've spent time here before and loved the community help with weight loss, its great to be supported by like minded people, and to offer support back too.

I'm finding it really hard to introduce myself, so I think I'll just get stuck into my goals and plan, and tell you more about myself and what's been happening to me later.

I'm feeling pretty heavy at 101.6 kg (223pounds), although I was heavier earlier this year. I'm taking a break from some of the other things going on in life and going to have a good go at re-introducing healthy eating and exercise. My first goal is to get to xmas and to be 6kg ligter by then.... I'd like to be 94 kg or less by then.

I'll be using mfp to track food and exercise, my cal goal is around 1800 and I'll be exercising at least 50min 6days a week. I'm fairly active with gardening etc, but really need to push myself to do high heart rate exercise.

I'm challenging myself to use this diary every day for the next 30days to help me get into healthy habits.

See you round the forum.

Ana

So today went well:

B 3xweetbix trim milk and coffee

S banana

L rice crackers w cottage cheese and chutney, 2x boiled eggs and some greens

D pasta with home made sauce (veges and 1 bacon rasher) with some grated cheese

S ice block

total 1830 cals

Exercise 30min walk (easy pace) and 10 minutes high intensity exercise (skipping and lunges and step ups etc)

Feeling good, looking for another good day tomorrow.

AHey Anna Gail, I was looking out to see it you were still here.

I've had a pretty roller coaster year and a half. I finally managed to get pregnant after about 3 years of trying, and then we had a big earthquake where I live which damaged our rental house and my parents house etc... And then the worst thing happened ever in my life. My baby was born beautiful and healthy, and she got sick and died at 26 days old. Her name was Maria, and we will soon be coming up to a year since she was born. It's been an awful year for me, and I've been trying to get pregnant again, which just doesn't seem to be happening.

Anyway I'm a little bit heavier, but not too much, but I'd love to lose some to help with trying to get pregnant again.

Wow, I wasn't sure if I was going to share that here, but it feels good to get it out.

It's cool to see so many of the same people here, I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone's progress.

ADay 2 of my new start, and my challenge to write in here for 30 days In a row.

I had a pretty good day. It was lovely weather down here in NZ, and my day off, so I spent about 3 hours doing hard out gardening, and another hour on the ride on lawn mower. I'm stuffed now, but it was a good day. I really had to push myself, I think the first few days when you change your eating can be a bit tough in the energy department.

I ate more than 1800 cals, but that's my plan when I've done lots of outdoor work.

B 2x eggs 2x bacon 1 slice of bread
S rice crackers and cottage cheese
L half cup of pasta w tomato veges etc sauce and some grated cheese
S olives, carrots cucumber rice crackers and some Brie
D roast chicken w brown rice and steamed veges

Cals 2600 exercise 1000 total = 1600

I have drunk LOTS of water today too. Feel like I might float away.

Tomorrow is a work day, so I'll need to plan my meals and some exercise.

AThanks Free :)

Another good day today. No exercise, but ate just under cals for the day. I didn't take quite enough food to work and was super hungry by the time I got home, but had some preprepared pasta sauce I made the other day, so dinner was simple.

B 3 weetbix w trim milk and sugar
S banana
L 2 x eggs, 1 whole grain bread tsp margarine
S small piece of coffee slice grapes
D pasta w Tom and vege sauce and some grated cheese

1800 cals

I really feel like I need to plan my exercise so I actually do it. I'm going to go the gym before work tomorrow, and whil at work will plan the next few days exercise.

I'm meeting up with some friends after work tomorrow, so need to make sure I'm not hungry when I get there..... Preparation is key!

Just popping in incase I can't get here later.

I failed on the gym mission this morning. I forgot its the start of daylight savings here, so lost an hour of my day before it even began. I figured I could at least go outside and do some HIIT. I've been planning to do some so seemed like a good chance for a short workout. I did about 10 min of 15sec sprints and then 1min walking . It was fun but i was fully stuffed by the time 10 mins were up. Love it, want to do more!

I'll go to the gym tomorrow after work, and might try the interval stuff on the rowing machine and the elliptical. Its fun to change things up a bit.

I've eaten well so far today. I got sushi for lunch for a treat, and had my normal breakfast and snacks. Not sure about tonight as I'm meeting up with some friends to play some music. We sometimes eat well and sometimes eat badly. I'll do my best with the situation and let you know tomorrow. Might be a couple of wines too :)

I'm loving catching up on people's diaries, feeling a bit shy about saying hi though... I'll get there eventually.

ASo I've had a couple of 'maintainance' days. I've been helping my mum move her car from one city to another so on the road for 2 days. I've tried to make good choices and haven't eaten any crap food, so not dng any damage I reckon. Tomorrow I'm going to plan my next week of meals and food so I can continue the good start.

I hope you're all doing ok out there.

AWell I think I did well this week, It's been 9 days since I started back on here, and I'm weighing 99.4 this morning, that's 2.2 kg lost! I'm feeling really proud of myself because I negotiated a 3 day road trip successfully! Today I'm working so I'm going to plan my next week of exercise and eating, I'll be back here later with my goals. Yay.

Oh Anna, I'm so sorry for your devastating loss!! What a year you've had!!!

I'm glad you're back and focussing on health and fitness. Sounds like you've started off really well!! I always plan my exercise days for the week ahead, and plan my meals a day ahead so I know what I need and no chance for slip ups. Makes life so much easier!!! I always make sure I'm flexible with it though, so if something comes up I don't have a fail. Like usually I'll say, ok, this week I'll do 3 strength workouts, swim twice and have 2 days off... So I'll alternate swimming and workout days until I'm a bit too sore one day, or too tired. Then I don't feel guilty about having a rest! Have started mapping out my 3 strength workouts a week now too to make sure I'm getting variety in muscles trained and different exercises for different body parts.

Good luck with your goals!!

Thanks Lucy, I decided that I wouldn't eat the grief, and so Iam weighing less than I was after having Maria, but I know that being fitter and slimmer will help me with self esteem and just feeling good really. I wouldn't wish the year I had on anyone.

Today's food:

weetbix with milk 2tsp sugar

salmon/avocado sushi

sculpt choc shake

chicken salad

fruit

I haven't added it up but I'm estimating slightly under my 1800 cal goal.

Exercise today is a trip to the gym after work, I'll only do about 30min, but will do some of that HIIT on the row machine, and also some strength stuff, I'm thinking lunges and squats, and maybe a bit of a core workout too.

I've made some goals for the next week.

3 yoga sessions, 3 dog walks, 2 HIIT sessions, 1 hill walk. I'll have an exercise free day, and will probably do some strength training at the gym sometime, not sure when yet.

Hello AB

Thanks for stopping by my diary, and huge congrats on the 2.2kg loss!

Hope it's a great week for you

AI've had a GOOD day today.

Food
3 x weetbix w milk and sugar
Banana
Rice crackers w cream cheese and grapes
Sculpt choc shake
Nuts
Beef stir fry w mushrooms and asparagus and brown rice
1 orange
1600 cals

Exercise

3km dog walk
45 gym avg hr 154bpm

I love my garmin HRM and I realized that I haven't been using it, when it's such a motivator for me. One of my goals is to use it at least 3 times this week!

Another goal, which I got through a group on mfp is to have 5 fruit and veges every day this week. I'm already feeling the benefits, cause I'm feeling full. Yum yum.

Another reason I'm feeling good today is that even though I had a night shiftlast night I didn't eat any crap, normally I might have some flavoured milk and some chips. But last night I had a late healthy snack before I went to work and then had nothing while there. My night shifts are very sedentary so I don't really need to eat while there. I sort of missed lunch because of the late brekkie, and then going out to the gym, so it was a low cal day for me, but that makes up for the BBQ yesterday!

AI had a couple of friends round today to do some craftwork, we decided to make origami paper boats, which my hubbie and I are going to put candles in and float them on the pond. This week is baby loss awareness week in NZ, and it's also soon ( in November) going to be a year since our baby Maria died, so we thought it'd be nice to do something symbolic for her and the other families we know who have lost babies. As well as making the boats we wove some flax flowers to put on them, the flowers are a design called circle of life which seemed appropriate. It's been a tough few days again for me emotionally, but I know the exercise has been helping me.

I don't really want to write down today's food , cause it wasn't the best.... But I came in on cals, and did swimming for exercise today so that was good.

Today's food
Weetbix w milk and sugar
Ladies lunch... Mushroom soup, bread and pâté, slice of Brie glass of wine
Coffee and a banana
Roast chicken (no skin) cucumber carrots bread
1 orange
Approx 2000 cals

20 min freestyle swimming.

AI did some extra exercise today. 50 min of intense gardening, and then this evening I went to my first Zumba class. It was fun too. I'll be interested to see what my HRM says in terms of cals burned. Anyway, I had a big dinner of toasted sammies, so ate back some of the exercise, but I'm cool with that.

Food today
2 boiled eggs, slice of whole grain bread and marg, coffee
Leftover beef stirfry w veges (no rice)
Banana
2 biscuits and a coffee
Cup of homemade mushroom soup
2 toasted sandwiches w baked beans and small amt of cheese.

2200 cals (-870 exercise cals)

I'm challenging myself to have 5 serves of veg/fruit every day for a week. On track so far:)

it was a beautiful day here, so I spent the morning in the garden and did about 2 1/2 hours of pretty intense gardening. I was listening to the 'cutthefat' podcast while working. Sometimes I think I listen to too much good advice and don't just get out there and do what they recommend! SO anyway it was all about how much protein you should have in your diet to help trick the brain into thinking the body isn't starving, their recommendation was 1.5 grams of protein for every kg, and to base that on your goal weight. (3/4 of a gram for every pound you weigh). Well according to that, I'm not eating nearly enough protein, so I'm going to add a couple of whey protein shakes each day. I'm still going to count cals and fit them into my daily food budget.

Today's food

3xweetbix w milk and sugar, coffee

sculpt choc shake

1/2 can baked beans w 2 poached eggs

sculpt choc shake

green salad w vinagrette and small tim salmon

banana and orange and some nuts

Cals = 1900 approx

I'm going to stop having weetbix in the mornings, and start having eggs instead. I've been neing a bit lazy and I don't think weetbix is the best start to the day for me.

I also went to a swiss ball class before work this evening, it was pretty low cardio, but great strengthening exercises. Ireally enjoyed it, will be sore tomorrow I think though!

2 weeks til we go on our big trip to the USA! Awesome!

Sorry that baby Maria died, I know that had to be heart breaking for you! It took my husband and I eleven years to have our Son. We went through a lot to have him. He is 33 years old now! But I was told when he was born that he may die. He had to stay at the hospital for a month after he was born.

My nephew and his wife have been trying to have a baby, for a while now, they lost two. She wasn't able to carry them after 6 weeks. So the doctors took her eggs and his sperm and implanted two babies after they were 6 weeks old. So far Kelly is doing good, she will have two girls in February or March. She has been staying sick a lot though. Maybe you will get pregnant again and have better luck.

I just came back to the forum myself. I was sick and was told not to push the exercise. So I gained the weight back. I should have kept up with the exercise.

You'll back to a good start!!
