My fresh start

AThanks AnnaG
It took us a lot of years to get pregnant. We are trying again, but will probably give up mid next year if it doesn't happen. I know that losing weight will help me either way.

Sorry to hear that you regained some weight. At least you are here getting rid of it again.

ASo the extra protein thing has kept me full for two days now.... And tonight when I had to go and buy bread and milk on my way home from work (and I was ready for dinner), I was able to adapt my plan and got some cooked chicken breast to eat as a snack, I had a smoothie for dinner as it was getting late by the time I got home and got organized. I did a gym workout today, pushed myself on the treadmill w incline, then rowing bike and elliptical w intervals and then warm down on the treadmill. My abs are aching from yesterday! It's a good ache though.

Today's food:
B- 2 eggs 1 slice whole grain toast w marg, coffee
S - sculpt protein shake
L- salmon avocado and prawn sushi, coffee
A- naval orange, green tea
D - chicken, 20g cheese, smoothie w banana raspberries and choc sculpt protein powder

1700 cals ( slightly under goal)

Exercise 35 mod intensity cardio

Sometimes I think I listen to too much good advice and don't just get out there and do what they recommend! SO anyway it was all about how much protein you should have in your diet to help trick the brain into thinking the body isn't starving, their recommendation was 1.5 grams of protein for every kg, and to base that on your goal weight. (3/4 of a gram for every pound you weigh). Well according to that, I'm not eating nearly enough protein, so I'm going to add a couple of whey protein shakes each day. I'm still going to count cals and fit them into my daily food budget.

Today's food

3xweetbix w milk and sugar, coffee

sculpt choc shake

1/2 can baked beans w 2 poached eggs

sculpt choc shake

green salad w vinagrette and small tim salmon

banana and orange and some nuts

Cals = 1900 approx

I'm going to stop having weetbix in the mornings, and start having eggs instead. I've been neing a bit lazy and I don't think weetbix is the best start to the day for me.

I also went to a swiss ball class before work this evening, it was pretty low cardio, but great strengthening exercises. Ireally enjoyed it, will be sore tomorrow I think though!

2 weeks til we go on our big trip to the USA! Awesome!

Hey Anna ! good work on the gardening x 2 & 1/2hrs - it's nice when something you enjoy actually helps burn calories too - bonus.

I haven't heard about the cutthefat podcasts before, ( I listen to Fat2Fit Radio podcasts - for info/inspiration on weight loss)- I'll have to check out the cutthefat...I do find protein does help fight-off hunger-...will need to look at it...

~ how fun to be doing a trip to USA ( that's a pretty long flight from NewZ eh ? )

..cheers,

Maryann

Hey Maryanne

Yep 12 hour flight! I'm so looking forward to a holiday though.... I have just started downloading the fat2fit podcasts as well, haven't listened to any yet though. THey're great for on the treadmill etc eh.

It's pouring with rain here today, so having a day by the fire before work tonight. Homemade ham and pea soup, and the ham is from our own pig!

Congrats on your progress so far, Anna! I am so jealous that you live in NZ. I had the opportunity to go there in college when I was studying in Australia. I have said ever since that if I ever move away from the US I will move to NZ. It was one of the most amazing places I have ever traveled to!

Keep up the great work!

Pea and ham soup sounds good, it would sure hit the spot! What are those protein shakes you are talking about?

Thanks Alice, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

The protein drinks are a brand called Horley's, I think they might be an Australian or New Zealand company. THe powder is 94 cals per serve and I often just mix them with water, sometimes with milk if I've got enough cals for the day. I picked them because they have less ingredients than some of the others. I'm mostly trying to eat natural home cooked foods (unprocessed), so protein powders don't really fit that. I've started having two a day and I really haven't been hungry, which is surprising to me. The proof will be in my tight jeans though! Here's hoping my new strategy works.

Another habit i'm trying to implement is eating at a table, and if I'm eating with someone else, i try to eat slower than them!

I didn't do any exercise today. I'll call it a rest day.

AHey Anna.banana! Love that name!
I was sorry to read the loss you have endured this year...I can't imagine. You've bee to this forum before so you know we are here to help you and encourage you to make good choices and be a listening (however that is done with typing!) ear when we just need to share something on our mind!
For your weightloss goals, they sound pretty good to me! Not impossible, yet requiring some serious effort...the best type of goal. I'm also on mfp, so if you want to friend me there (I use the same name as here) feel free. I've been on here for over a year...slowly, but surely getting the weight off...about 30 more pounds to go for me!
Looking forward to reading about your progress!

Success! 98.4 kg today, so another whole kilo down since last weekend! YAY and i've been feeling good, satiated, and really enjoying what I'm eating! YAY

A nonscale victory is that my muffin when I'm wearing my tight jeans has shrunk. It's still there, but today i'm wearing a slightly less loose top with them. So cool for something positive to be happening. I know that I can do the next two weeks the same as the last 3! Feels good.

AThanks Maryanne, sure feels good to get a down sign on the scales.

I challenged myself to write here every day for 30 days to get myself back into a good habit. I possibly have missed one day, but I'm up to day18 now, so that's pretty good I reckon.
I've been trying to not eat back all my exercise cals, just to get a bit of momentum going, but today I have eaten them, just got too hungry. I did a 6km walk this morning, with a friend and our dogs. It was cool to exercise with someone for a change, I also did quite a lot of outside work, which I didn't log the cals for, I think that's why I got so huungry, I was pooped by the end of the day, totally ready for bed.

Tomorrow I'm meeting my mum for dinner and we are going to see Billy Bragg in concert, so looking forward to that. We will go for a swim for exercise, and I still have lots of work to do in the garden.

B- 1 piece whole grain bread w 1 egg and a banana 307 cal
S- choc sculp shake 200
L- salad lettuce, cucumber capsicum olives cheese 25g shaved chicken, and some chicken and corn soup. 400
S- rice crackers w cottage cheese and a tomato 180 choc sculpt shake 95
D corned beef, cauliflower, mushrooms, mashed potato 480
S- hot choc, rice crackers w cream cheese
2100 cals for today.

Hi Anna ,

Good job on 18days of Daily posting - it is a great motivator

( I try to get on here daily myself - I find it really helps keep me focused on healthy choices.)

~ no worries on "eating" your exercise calories - ...wise to listen to your body - don't fight the hunger too hard - I am finding that if I do have a bite of something healthy ( ie. fruit/veg/ whole-wheat cracker /cheese string) - when I get really hungry - it helps head-off from a Major hunger & diet crash.... I still lose...just a slower pace- but much better than being starving, cranky, and possibly blowing diet altogether...

~ bet your dogs love the outside walks - NewZealand is so green & lush ( as I remember it anyway).... & fun to have someone with you too - (catch up on gossip....lol...) what types of dogs do you have?....I have a little poodle-schnauser cross ( she's just a little fur ball)-but she's full of energy& gets so excited whenever I pick up her leash - she's a good motivator for me to get going.

~ hope concert & swim with your Mum is fun,

cheers ,

maryann

AI'm tired. Did a step class today, and got very sweaty. Ate well. Going to sleep now.

B- eggs and one slice toast, marg, coffee
L- sushi
Snack-choc protein shake

Night night

Hey Anna, looks like you're on a good roll to lose those kgs. I think you'll do a lot better than 6 by Xmas at this rate!

Hey Anna - good job on step-class & healthy eats.... count-down to that USA vctn now eh ?....

hope you have a great day,

cheers,

Maryann.

AThanks LJ and Maryanne,

I think I'm on track too, but I'm not expecting to lose while on my holiday (4 weeks), which is why I've set a lowish goal. I am planning to stay active on my holiday and not over eat. I'm thinking of challenging myself to keep logging food on holiday, not sure about that though. Will decide next week before I go.

Hi Anna,

So sorry to hear about the loss of baby Maria, I can't imagine what the past year must have been like.

Congrats on the renewed commitment and awesome results so far. Out of the 100's and into the 90's and with all the exercise sessions you must be feeling great these days.

Good luck with the holiday and think the idea of keeping a food log is great even if it's simply to write it down on a piece of paper you keep with you. Sarah is our resident globetrotting world expert so she may have some good tips for how to deal with the challenges travel can throw your way.

AThanks FG,

I've had a busy couple of days, have done well on the eating but didn't exercise today or yesterday, tomorrow isn't looking good either. However I will sit down tomorrow (at work) and work out my exercise and dinners for next week. I've run out of veges which makes it difficult for me to succeed in the eating department.

Today's food.
B 2 vogel's bread w avocado, coffee
S cheese slice, protein drink
L salad w cuc cap olives and avocado
2 nd lunch ( lol) salmon sushi
D rabbit stew w rice (small portion of each)
S muffin split w marg and hot milk

Cals1810

Have just had a relaxing hot bath and now to sleep have to be up at 4:45am for work.... Sigh.

Hope everyone has a great weekend..
