12/06/06

Breakfast: fruit salad
Lunch: wholemeal pasta with home made red pepper sauce
Tea: ½ tin lentil soup
Snacks: banana, packet low fat crisps, 6 bread sticks
Supper: none
Exercise: gym session (400cal)
Fizzy juice: none
Water: 8 glasses 1 x 500ml bottle
Fruit and veg portions: 6

Well today started off well enough but when I got home I found people in to wish my mum a happy birthday (even though her birthday is tomorrow). I thought what the hey and had some bread sticks and low fat crisps after having my main meal at lunch time.

At around 5pm I had half a tin of lentil soup before heading to the gym at 8.30 to catch the last session. Managed 400 on the cardio machines but didn't do any weights (will do them on Wed). I did 150cal on the rowing machine and treadmil and 50 on the bike and X-trainer.

My scale says I weight 152lb which is only 1/2 a pound more than I was this morning so hopefully there'll be a loss tomorrow too. I'd settle for loosing another 1/2 a pound so I can say I've lost 10lb.:)

spelin01: Yes the cheese and onion ones are my downfall unfortunately. Ages ago we used to have cheese & haggis ones but they don't makes them any more. I had thought the salt might have something to do with my 1/2 pound gain but hey it's gone again so no harm done.

Hypo: I did as you suggested and have drunk loads of water today as well as yesterday! It seems to have done the trick so thanks muchly for the advice!

L-Jay: Yup I certainly will be, football and animals are the biggest things in my life!

NothingToLoose, missprincess, twinmom, Pineola & JellyBelly: Thanks for your kind messages, hope you all have a great week!

You are doing so well that one bad day can't ruin it. Just make sure that the bread sticks and chips aren't habit-forming. But the chips were even low-fat so it seems that you geared your fall in a good direction! It could have been far worse but you caught yourself so pat yourself on the back. And great efforts with the cycling! You have a lot to be proud of.

Cheese and Haggis...I have to say there is a flavor I am sure you will never see in the states :D . I love how dilligent you are at posting your food here! I keep all mine in my little palm pilot thingy because I am way to lazy to write it all here on line. My hubbie already complains I have been spending alot of time on the computer posting ! I told him it keeps me from eating :D ! You guys are so awesome on the site...I can't be happier that I found you!!!!*sniff, sniff*:p
BTW, posted an answer to your question in my diary. Don't be afraid to ask me anything! That's why I am here, to try to help... and to get help and you do that for me everyday!!!!!

I cant believe you have a pet spider. I so wish I could get over my fear of them. Especially ones the size of yours. I only realize it was in your avatar a couple of days ago and it freaked me out. You are brave.

L-Jay: I actually have around 25 pet tarantulas though most are much smaller than "Fluffy" that you see in my avatar. My biggest is a big Brazil black called Whisper and she has a leg span of about 7.5". :)

I finally got my last 1/2lb off to make it to 10lb lost however once again it's a whole pound that's gone! At this rate I'll be halfway there by the end of next week which would be great!:D

Only thing is that I've been a bit hungry today and had a whole mango for breakfast and I'm just about to tuck into a baked potato and beans. I don't think we're getting tea until around 7pm so I want something decent to tide me over.

Well done 10lbs lost that is great. I can't believe you have 25 spiders!!! Don't worry about being hungry, everyone has days where they are more hungry than usual, you are doing great by just managing it sensibly. Keep up the good work!!

Deary me the spiders are only the half of it, I have 2 lizards a corn snake, 20 odd giant millipedes, stick insects and nearly 50 fish too, oh and an Imperial scorpion and some giant Cuban cockroaches.

I'm nearly ready to get on my bike and try cycling to work. It's a nice day outside so now is as good a time to try as any I think!:)

OOOHH!!! I have to agree with L-Jay...I have a deep seated fear of spiders and creepy crawly things in general. I think it was because I had 3 brothers who would tease me any chance they got. We have things called silver fish here...oh they make my skin crawl....like a hairy millipede. Maybe I need slow exposure to your spiders to help me over come my fear :D .........maybe not ;) . I have to say my daughter would love it...she is really into bugs this year...oh yipee:eek: !!!

Wow, you have a lot of animals!!! Where do you keep all these spiders and others and what do you feed them??? Fluffy is cute in a spider kind of way, but to be honest it is not my thing.

Congrats on passing 10 lbs mark! You're kicking ass in weight loss!

Well I did manage to get to work OK on my bike though some parts of the cycle were a bit tiring and the wind was blowing against me the whole time (hope it's blowing in the same direction when I go home). I checked the AA route planner and it says the road from Falkirk to Bonnybridge where I work is 4.5miles. The canal might be slightly longer as the road is more direct (the canal winds a fair bit). I managed to do the cycle in 40mins so that wasn't too bad (only 20more mins than it'd take in the car). Think cycling to work and cycling back will be fine for my daily exercise!

I can understand the uncertainty regarding my creepy pets but there is a reasonable explaination. My dad is allergic to fur and feathers so I was never able to have a dog or cat or anything like that. I was too much of an animal lover not to have pets so first I got my fish, then I had 3 hamsters before dads allergy got too bad. The snakes and lizards were the next to arrive with the rest following them. Here are a few pictures of some of my pretty spiders. Tarantulas are much nicer than house spiders as they often look very nice and are nice and fluffy. Most of the ones I keep do not move so fast either. In saying this I do have one that is considered to be one of the most venemous tarantulas in the world, however he is very shy and has never shown any threat postures never mind try to bite.

I keep them in my room (have enclosed photo) which is currently jam packed with cages.:D

In July I'm probably getting my most outragous pet yet - a baby boa constrictor and I can't wait!:D

PS: If anyone would like to see more photos of some of my tarantulas go here

Wow, I would be so scared if I went in your house. I'm sort of scared of spiders. :p Well anyway, riding to work on your bike sounds like a good plan for exercise. There and back would be about 80 minutes of cardio and an hour once you get in tip top shape :). Just think, you won't actually be using up too much time, since you have to do it anyway :)

Great job on riding to work! As you improve, you'll be able to make it to work in under 30 min easy! My work is over 22 miles away from the house, so biking is definitely out of the question!!! :(

Those are some scary spiders! I would not want to find myself near one of those things (unless separated by the cage or course!), but they can definitely be creatures to admire.

Fantastic on the riding to work! I'm doing a mental happy dance right now!

I think your pets are amazing. I have no problem with spiders and would have a snake if it wasn't for the feeding thing. I'm vegan and I wouldn't be able to stomach the feeding of a live little mousekins to the snake. I know, circle of life, but I'm a wuss!

I do have one phobia and Emmcookie has witnessed my hyperventilating terror at the sight or even the sound of ... frogs. That's right - frog fear! Big or small, I freak out. I've had nightmares where I've woken up screaming because frogs were hoppity hopping around. Damn, I need therapy! :)

Actually my snakes don't get live mice at all, it's OK to feed them live mice in America but over in the UK it's illegal. The mice are killed, frozen and defrosted before feeding them to the snakes. :)

Breakfast: mango
Lunch: baked potato, ½ tin of baked beans
Tea: ½ a 9” oven baked pizza at Italian
Snacks: none
Supper: apple
Exercise: 10 mile bike ride
Fizzy juice: 1 glass diet pepsi
Water: 5 glasses 1 x 500ml bottle
Fruit and veg portions: 4

I must confess to sitting watching a film this morning and polishing off an entire mango. I suppose there could have been worse things to snack on and I didn't eat any snacks for the whole of today.

For lunch I had baked potato and beans, didnt think a wee drop soup would do me til 7pm and through a 10mile cycle.

The cycle itself was quite tough going on the way, the few hilly bits there were were all uphill and the wind was blowing against me. I made it to Bonnybridge after 40 mins which wasn't too bad for a first time. On the way home I managed to get home in 30mins with the wind at my back. The cycle route is nice along the canal nd it takes you past our tourist attraction (Falkirk's only tourist attraction heh) the millenium wheel (some kind of water powered boat lift.

I'm quite happy that I'll be able to cycle to work from now on and will do so again on Thursday.:)

At night we went out for tea to an Italian place with my mum, dad, gran and aunt. I ordered a pizza as it looked like the lightest thing on the menu (it was proper Italian thin crispy base etc) but found I could only eat half of it (probably a good thing). I was sure to eat it slowly so that I knew when I was full, my dad had the same but he ate all his.:D

After that we had a nice drink (everyone else had wine and larger I had water) and chatted and shared funny stories. I ordered a pot of tea and got 3 mugs out of it as I felt a bit bloated. My aunt is a great comedian so we were kept well entertained (you know how every family has a mad auntie?!). On the way home we watched her skip along the canal in an amusing fashion.

Hopefully I'll not have gained too much with my pizza experience last night! we shall see but at this rate it won't matter anyway.:)
