my diary

Isn't if funny after all that debate of what kind of exercise to go get you decided to go for a walk. That little birdy needed you to take that exact walk. I love rescue stories. I hope that little bird makes a full recovery! I don't know if you believe in Karma but you just created some really good karma for yourself!

oh man, what a story. I hope your little birdy friend gets better, and that if he is a tamed bird, that you can find his owner!

OH crunchie you are the saviour of the weak and injured! You have such a good heart! Besides all the great workouts!

Great rescue story!!!! Good food, good exercise and saving an animal. I would say all in all a successful day!!

Hope you have a good one today as well!!

Oh Crunchie,
Good for you for rescuing that little bird!!
I'm so glad you took a walk :)

That's my food for yesterday, had a good weight lifting session and swim session last night and am now down to 140 lighter today so that's 21lbs lost in total now!:D

I'll copy paste the updates onthebird from another forum which i visit. I was updating the folk there as its pretty much an animal lovers forum...

We've got it in the largest geo box you can get with lots of towels, it's actually looking a heck of a lot perkier now and isn't shivering. It's making attempts to preen itself so hopefully it'll last until morning.
I put some water in its box and found it actually standing up, it certainly looks to be improving.

I'm wondering if it came from someone's doo-loft!
It certainly looks loads better today after a good sleep and a few attempts to preen itself. It had a big drink this morning along with some porridge oats and brown bread soaked in a bit water.
I'm going to suggest to the SSPCA guy that the bird is sent to a local country park that has a big flock of doves, if it can't fly again they also have big aivaries that it could live in. I'm dreading them putting it to sleep simply because they are relatively common birds though. I'm going to ask for a phone number so I can check up on what's happening.

EDIT: Forgot to say I checked it this morning for a ring but it had none, what it did have was some fishing line that had gotten caught round its legs, my and mum cut that off. I wish they'd ban fishing here, for every responsible person there is 10 iresponsible ones.

The bird has just been collected, the guy looked at it and confirmed it has been shot and it's not likely to fly again as the shoulder was shattered. He questioned what kind of life it would have if it couldn't fly so the most likely thing that'll happen is that it'll be put to sleep. He thinks it ame round to drink and was snagged in fishing line and someone took a shot at it.
The story goes on... Super dad to the rescue

After tearfully explaining to my dad (leader of Falkirk Council) the SSPCAs verdict he phoned our local country park who keep pigeons and other domestic birds, my dad knows many of the people that work in the park so he got in touch with someone who keeps pigeons himself. They said they would take the bird and have it treated though it looks likely it will not fly again they are still going to offer it a home in one of their large enclosures. However as this was sometime after I'd given the bird to the SSPCA inspector I was concerned I wouldnt get the message to him in time. However when I phoned them up again they said he had got the message and was on his way to the park. I am going to go up there later today to see what's happening and to offer a donation to help pay for the vet bills.

My daddy is ace!

The bird was sent to avet last night and we're awaiting news on what will happen, if the pellet in the wing can be removed then the vet will do so and then we just have to hope the bird regains use of the wing. If not and given it's a wild bird I think the only option would be to put it to sleep. Even if that happens at least the poor thing was given as good a chance as it was ever going to get. If I see anyone with an air gun near the canal I'll throw them in the water and pepper them with pellets and see how they like it.

Here's my food from yesterday and today

I know my calories today were shamefully low but I intend to eat about 1400's worth tomorrow to make up for this. Fridays are always difficult due to the amount of exercise in a double gym & swim session.

I got news back from the vet today, the wee bird died so i feel a bit low.:(

Oh, sorry to hear about the bird! But I'm glad that it got at least a chance at it, and hopefully suffered less then it would have out there.

God I've had a really mince day, first off I had to work 9-5 and missed the football. My team picked up a very good result away from home against one of our rivals and I missed it.

I have terrible period pains.

A guy advertised some tarantulas for sale last night so I mailed him about two and said I'd buy them. He emailed me back at 9.30am to say that was fine he'd hold them back for me and would I send a cheque or something. Thinking I'd get back to him after work I looked in my inbox to see a message from him saying "I haven't heard from you and had an offer for all my tarantulas so I've sold them to someone else". Very nice of him to give me 6.5 hours to reply to his email. !

The lifeguard has opted for my skinny friend.

It's days like this when you wonder why on earth you bother.:(

Crunchie just remember men are trash in general, there are a few of us good ones out there you just have to muddle through.

By the way why got you interested in spiders? my daughter now wants one.

awwwh. *huggles* I'm sorry you're having such a rough day. The bird, the cramps and the spiders. :( But at least your team won which is good right? I know missing a game sucks but least they won. As for the lifeguard... ya want us to rough him for ya a bit? p'-'q

By the way why got you interested in spiders? my daughter now wants one.

I bought one at a show a couple of years ago, was a bit of an impulse buy but my friend was telling me how easy they were to keep and such so I bought her. Been sort of collecting them since then.:D

C my team didn't win they drew their game but we were expected to get thrashed. We are now joint top of the SPL which is the best league in Scotland with the team we drew with today.

Awwww, honey, I'm so sorry about the bird. And about the lifeguard...but more about the bird.

Keep your chin up honey. What is meant to be will be.

Hi Crunchie. It totally sucks what people are capable of doing to animals. Its bad enough when animals are in trouble and its not due to human intervention, but that just makes it even worse. But you can be happy my dear girl, that you allowed it to die in comfortable surroundings. I get really upset when I see or hear of animals suffering. And I would have done exactly the same as you. When on our honeymoon, I saw an injured seagull, kids were chasing it , so I made my hubby catch it and put it in a box and drive all around to look for a vet. He's used to me now, and will voluntarily help wounded animals. I just cant walk away and forget about them. One day you will met a like-sensitive soul, who loves you for your compassion.

Hi, girl, sounds like you had pretty crappy day. Sorry! I'm sure everyone has one of those at some point or another. Just take it easy. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully it will be much better!

But, you're still doing awesome with weight loss - you've gone so far already!

Hey there Crunchie. I'm back and checking in. I hope you're doing well. It sounds like you had some rough days when I was gone :(.

I'm still here just! Things have been a bit hectic and I haven't been writing down what I've been eating. I'm still at 140.5 though with any luck I can get into the 130's by my next weigh in on Sunday.

My ex that got all flirty then seemingly lost interest has gone back to being flirty.
