Momma4alex’s adventures in surprising my man….

Howdy Heather,
I am glad your feeling better headaches can be a real pain and runin a nice day!I can't afford much either and I bought my stationary bike which has the comfy seat and sits low through 7th ave catalog for $200 and I pay $20 a month it's pretty cheap but they also have ellipticals and the treadmills that you walk on to make move.Anyway if your interested I can post the link where you can nosey online or they can send ya a catalog.Have a nice day and way to go on the water and exersices,Tammy

Thanks Jenna and Tammy for stopping by.

Jenna- Thanks for saying that I am an amazing mommy for alex cause sometimes i sure don't feel like it. I think about all the things i should be able to do for him like running around chasing him and stuff and i can't do that now with the weight i am cause it just takes too much out of me. lol :) soon hopefully it won't and all be able to chase him around for hours at a time.. haha. Keep up the great work yourself.

Tammy, I would love the link if you can post it her for me or send it to me in im. I'm going to look at sports authority here in a little while and check out the ones they have there and see if they have any type of payment programs also.

Well hope everyones having a great day. I know i sure am. I weighed in this morning at 245.8 lbs which is down 0.4 lbs since friday when i weighed in before going to disneyland since the start of the challenge was on saturday and I wasn't home. anyways from now on I'm going to be weighing in on saturdays until the challenge is over then i might go back to mondays but not sure. we'll see how things work out by then.

see everyone later off to make lunch and then head to the store to check out the exercise equipment and see if i can find a good buy.. without breaking the bank.. haha

Hi Heather. I needed to drop in and see how you were doing. No doubt WLF has been a good experience for you so far. This place is great for the entire journey, is it not ??

Carry on Soldier-wife :) Stay disciplined :) ten-hut !!

Hey randy...

Hahaha Solider wife... lol Randy your funny you always know how to make me smile. I may not be a solider's wife for much longer. Dh is thinking about going to trucking school here in the next few years as he figures its good money but he'll get to see me and alex more instead of every 6 months like it has been for the last 3 years.

Anyways I bought an elliptical tonight. :jump: I got the Weslo Momentum 620 for 168.72 plus tax then i got a 2 year warrenty for it for 30 dollars extra so that was nice. Hopefully it gives me a good workout for the price i paid for it. It has 10 resistent levels and a heart rate monitor on it plus it has two programmed things on it and gives you a guide for getting the most out of your workout. I'm going to be setting it up in the a little while so i can workout in the morning. bring the thing in from the car though was a pretty good workout in its self. the thing weighs like 90 lbs or something..

I'll let you all know how it works once i get it set up and am able to exercise on it. Keep in touch randy I have missed you around here.

this is how my day went..

Ok hello all its 2:04 am and i should be sleeping but got my workout in pretty late tonight although i didn't get the full 30 minutes i had planned just did 15 as that was harder then i thought since i haven't worked out on an elliptical since sept 03'. anyways it said i burned 216 cals in 15 minutes which isn't to bad. not sure on how many miles as it didn't tell me in miles tells me in total revolutions.. that part sucks but i'm going to test out a theory later today to see if it works with my pedometer. if it does then i'll do that everytime i work out on it. Todays cals are pretty low to begin with as i only ate when i was hungry so i ate a total of 884 cals for the day then burned 216 in exercise so not sure how good that is on my system but later today will be better.. haha i keep wanting to say tomorrow as its still seems like wednesday since i haven't gone to sleep yet. well i'm off to bed see you all around tomorrow and sorry i didnt' get to your all diary. i did get in my full amount of water though so that may be while i was not as hungry today.

oh yeah before i forget i took some measurements today just to see how things were progressing.. since i lost my starting measurements these only go from 8/21/07 to 9/5/07. here's the link-

Wow Heather, 12 inches in 2 weeks is pretty impressive!!! You are doing awesome!!
I kind of experienced in the gym that the mashines are usually not really accurate when it comes to calorie counts. You have an HRM right? That would give you a lot more accurate number because it goes by age, weight, resting heart rate...etc. Just have it on the whole time while you exercise.
Like my treadmill when I slow down from running, automatically slows down the calorie counts because it is based on its speed, while my heart rate is still way up there based on my HRM.
Good luck with your elliptical!!

Howdy Heather,
Aewsome progres thats alot of inches for 2 weeks!
I am glad your liking the eliptical,I usually workout late to not by choice
but by schedule plus I do get most of my energy later at night.Hope you have a nice day Tammy

Hi Heather!!
It's awesome that you were able to pick up an elliptical, and what's even more amazing is the price of it! I've been thinking of picking some piece of equipment lately but the prices here are ridiculous. I figure I'll just join the gym... more my price range. lol.
You're doing awesome hun, your inches lost is amazing! I'm jealous!!
I'm gonna stop in more regularly now, even if I only pop in and leave a short message, know that I'm still thinking about ya! Take care.
xoxo

Thanks Hajni, tammy and elle. I don't think my inches lost was for just 2 weeks. As i wasn't able to compare my starting out measurements to the ones i took on 8/21/07 as i lost the file that I had saved them in. I'm going to be taking them like every two weeks now and see how things progress. I got my elliptical from walmart. they have like 3 different ones there and some treadmills they also had an recumbant bike there for like 100 dollars so i figure I like the elliptical more and it would probalby give me a greater workout so i'm going to stick with it. hope you all are doing well. i'll check back in later. gotta get lunch made since its noon. see you all soon.

Hey Heather,

You are doing so well. Losing 12 inches is amazing. Getting the elliptical is a great invenstment. I wish I could get an exercise machine in here but we live in a tiny apartment and its just not possible.

Measuring yourself is hard... i stopped doing it because it was frustrating. Keep up the great work. You're doing soo amazing its truly inspirational. You should take pics every 2 or 4 weeks also when you measure yourself. Its amazing how much a small difference in a picture could make.

Thanks Jenna, Yeah i was totally thinking about that too but my camera isn't working right as it was i put new batteries in it last night and it tried telling me they were low after only one pic.. lol so i'm hoping to get some taken tonight or tomorrow. I will post them in my before and after pics.

I got news from dh. He is going back to fort Lewis either sunday or wednesday and they are suppose to decide i guess there as to whether he's coming home for good or not but most likely he will be getting a medical discharge from the army and be home no later then november of this year so that means yikes.. 2-3 months and i'll see hubby again and i'm no where near my goal... ahh... talk about freaking out not only about money issues and stuff but my goals too.. well gotta get alex ready for bed see you all in a bit and i'll update my food and exercise then too.

Heather,
Hubby coming home so soon is good news!!! He still will be surprised to see you lost weight as I am sure by then it will be quite noticable. Remember, you made this change for yourself and Alex too not just hubby, so if he is coming home in November he can be part of this with his continuing support and you can keep going strong... You made so many healthy changes... eating better food, cutting out most of the junk and soda, started exercising... remember it is a lifestyle change and not a diet!! I am sure he will appreciate the good tasting and healthy foods too!! And you mentioned you like to go hiking together.. you can do that as an exercise and still spend time with him... Don't think about the final goal amount and timeline you set, if you keep on going like you have been, it will be here sooner than expected!!
Hajni

Howdy Heather,
Yeah like HAJANI said your hubby will be so proud of you,you have lost 15lbs thats a big deal and you said you have a couple months still so who knows how much lost by then,I bet your excoted and nervous your lil guy will be so happy to see daddy!
Can't wait to check out the pics, hope you have a gr8 weekend Tammy
PS hows the eliptical treating ya?:D

Thanks Hajni and Tammy, You both know exactly what to say to calm me down.... I guess the most important thing is to remember to stay on track and just not worry about what I can't change and focus on what I can. I had gotten used to the idea of having until april to get to my goal weight I guess so now the timeline is off but like you both said i'm sure he'll be happy to see the positive changes I have made for both myself and our son. I just hope things keep going strong and I can at least get down possibly to where I was at when i got pregnant with Alex in 2003. I'm going to continue to focus on exercising and eating healthy and let whatever will be then that will be. you know?

The elliptical is treating me good. Gives me a great workout and boy do my legs feel it shortly after I stop exercising... even in only doing 15 minutes a day on it I can definately tell its really working my legs and upper body cause I tingle all over after i'm done for a couple of hours. I'm planning on upping my time today as I didn't get in my full 30 minutes the last two days on it like planned. I think i'll do at least 20 minutes in each segment so i can make up for the time I didn't do last two days.

Hope you all are having a great day and don't forget to drink up... lets keep this challenge rocking.

Hello all. food and exercise for 9/8/07

Thanks Jenna and Tammy, I sure hope the elliptical is a good machine for me. :)

Ok so Yesterday, I did 4.29 miles in 25 minutes on the elliptical but I didn't do so great on food as I only ate brunch and dinner as we got up at 9 and by the time any of us were hungry it was 12:30pm so we didn't get dinner until after 7:30pm

Brunch: 2 homemade breakfast burritos; 2 scrambled eggs, 12 slices of low sodium bacon crumbled, and 2 whole wheat low carb tortillas. (903 cals)

Dinner: Me N Ed's Pizza; 2.5 slices (900 cals) Yikes :eek2:

Total cals eaten: 1803 cals.
Water: 5.5; 24 oz bottles. (132 oz)

Exercise: Elliptical 25 minutes (4.29 miles; 354 cals burned) I love working out on the elliptical cause it gives me a great workout all over and i can really feel it in the legs and butt, and my upper body too... woohoo. I'm slowly working my weigh up to doing a full 30 minutes at a time on it since its only been 4 days since I started using it.

Total cals deficit for the day: 451 cals (bmr is 1900) so i subtracted food then added exercise to get total.

Hope I can really contribute to my team on the Halloween challenge and Keep this up.

You're doing great Heather:)

You should try and work more fruits and veggies into your diet. It will provide tons of the nutrients you need =0)
