Mike's Diet Journal

Nanders, I'm so happy I've imspired you, but I have to admit, I came in third in my age category (19 to 29), I'm 28. I actually competed the event last year as well but came in dead last out of all the men.... My goal for next year is to make the top 15 overall.... not just in my age category.

The main thing about going into events like a triathlon is that you should never be afraid to come in last, at first you should do it for yourself... finish the thing, it's an amazing accomplishment. My landlady who is in her late 60's entered the event with me.... she finished it. Now if that doesn't inspire a person, nothing will!

Supper
Smokie, mixed veggies, rice = 464
small piece of cake = 248

today's total = 2037

I've been gaining muscle over the last little while, I'm getting slimmer, but not losing any weight.... which isn't a bad thing. Muscle is a hell of a lot better than fat!

Hey Mike,

One of my goals is to train and complete triathlons. One of my profs (female) is my inspiration. She is incharge of the triathlon club at the university and she has completed an ironman.

That is such a HUGE accomplishment! Way to go. You definately deserve the bragging rights!

This is the first time I've stopped by your diary - and all I can say is Good For You!! Entering, finishing and PLACING in a triathalon is BIG!!

Go You!

I did it again, I took in way too little calories today...

So this morning I decide to check out my progress on the dreaded scale. Sweat beads off my forehead, my mouth is dry, my body shivers in fear. I take one step toward the scale, then another...

I slowly ease my left foot onto the scale, as if slowly adding my entire weight to it will give me a different result or something... my right foot is added and I stare down at the result...

I'm 200 lbs... I've lost 10 lbs in the 4 weeks and 4 pounds in august.

*pats self on back*

Breakfast

I'm pretty sure the popcorn put me over the 1800 mark, but according to fitday I only consumed 377 worth....

mmm I love smokies! How to describe them....They are sort of like hot dogs but bigger and more like a sausage. LOL....mmm maybe someone else better explain....

Hey Mike,

You're doing good. Step up those calories! Congrats on the loss and only one more lb and you'll be in "one-derland" *WOOT*

Breakfast
Bacon and egg sandwich w/ lettuce and tomato and oj = 585

Lunch
Turkey sandwich, mr noodles = 663

snack
yogurt and an orange = 172

Supper
BLT minus the L on rye... raw carrots and cauliflower
desert, chocolate pudding pie (oh crap!) = 779
----------------

You know, this is the first time in like 4 days that I ate more than 1800 calories, yet I'm feeling pretty damn guilty for eating the desert which was 473 alone! I guess I could look at it as a good thing though, I ate my recommeded calorie intake.

So Mike,
I've been thinking about what you said...

And THAT is one of the most inspiring things I've read to date and I keep mentally going back to it. She's in her 60's, she ENTERED and FINISHED.

That is so motivational!

Because of you mentioning it, I have changed my work out line up that includes training for a walking half marathon.

It's not actually entering anything yet - but it puts me in the right direction :)

Thanks you!

Thanks

hey mike thanks for the entry in my journal!!!! She's not my friend anymore and hasn't been for a long time!! Don't feel too bad about the choco pie, sometimes ya just need to. And it's good you got your cals in. Besides I read that cheating every now and then makes your body believe it's okay to let go of the extra weight, b/c it's still getting some sweet stuff!!! Take care and have a wonderful week!!!

apparently I wasn't done for the day...

read m2m's diary and she mentioned that she'll be taking her ipod out walking... I realized then that I haven't taken my ipod out for his exercise in ages so I went jogging.

5 kms, 30 minutes

had a banana after that which brings me to 2050 for Sunday.... looking back at what I did today I can honestly say that I'm in the best shape I've been since ummm I was zero lol
