It must look so beautiful to have snow where you live. Sometimes I envy that but I would like the snow without the cold :). Sorry to hear you are not feeling well hun. Hope you feel better soon!

Poor you Maryann!! I HATE head colds! Get well soon sweetie. Chicken noodle soup? Sounds good. Hope it's home-made & full of goodness xoxo Cate

Feel better soon Maryann! Take the opportunity to drink lots of fluides...water and hot tea...the worst thing that could happen is that you feel better and you help flush out your system! You might try some ginger in that tea...it always opens me up when I get a cold over here!
Sarah

I've been having a hot lemon drink every night for the last month or so. I use a lemon/ginger teabag, a teaspoon of honey & the juice of half a lemon. It's yummy! I figure we'll be coming up to the cold season soon, so I'll start early. Hope you're improving already sweets xo Cate

Hi all, restful snowy-sunday here, for St.Patrick's day...happy St.Paddy's !

thankyou for the get-well wishes everyone , after 2 days of tea/humidifier/tylenol, I am finally starting to feel a bit better... this is one tuff bug.

weight has been stable ,despite no exercise these past 3 days and lots of honey with my tea , haven't been logging food, but figure my calories are likely down, as not much appetite either.

well, back to the couch&tea&humidifier , have been listening to some fat2fit podcasts, so at least re-freshing my brain on healthy ideas, while my body is fighting the cold bug.

cheers all, hope everyone has a nice Sunday with healthy choices,
Maryann ;)

Hey all - Monday mornin'- a fresh new week...
View attachment 20231
feel bit better this morning- no fever(finally)...so going to try back-to-work today.

Tried out the niddk weight-loss model on-line yesterday, (from MrVee's thread - ) for 1 pound loss/week for me, it recommends 1,300cals/day plus 60minutes light exercise... going to try that out for this week ...see how I do .... wish me luck ;)

plan:
food: budget today- 1,300calories , so far-breakfst&lunch-515 cals
exercise: going to try for treadmill 2 x 30min sessions.View attachment 20232

Mindset: I will keep the fat2fit podcast theme going in my mind:
"eat like the thin person you want to be" .... each time I go to the kitchen...I will try to think/envision how I will be eating once I am thin .... 3 reasonable meals daily & 2 snacks of either fresh fruit or a yogurt or some veg+tzatziki ..... View attachment 20233

wishing everyone a nice Monday with healthy choices.
cheers, Maryann

-Hey Justina - thx for the well-wishes , my cold is getting much better, .

-first 1/2hr treadmill done... didn't get speed up much-still pretty winded from the cold-but stuck out the 1/2hr... will do 2nd session later tonite.

- calories today, going good, had a post-work snak of greek yogurt/fresh berries/ground flax seed - 170cals total, really filling , View attachment 20237
-supper planned is a nice omelette - 2eggs, veggies(mushrooms, green onions), 1 tbsp. grated romano cheese, 1 slice whole-grain toast, tsp margarine ,
-& have enuf cals for another serving yogurt/fruit for dessert-
daily total calories will be 1,265 - nicely fits my 1,300 goal...and not hungry so far ( this is suprising to me...as before this cold, I was quite hungry on the 1200 cal days...maybe I need to find a pharmaceutical company who can research what changes a cold-virus does to your body that supresses appetite?? ....hmmm....maybe it's because I was drinking green tea continuosly all day today(helps my sinuses and throat)....
note to me.... keep mug of tea going non-stop at work all this week & see if no-hungry continues...

ok - time to go have some more tea ! ;)

Glad to hear the cold is going away.

I'm guessing things may be starting to improve a touch weather wise up in the great white north? I'm thinking you still have a ways to go yet if my Chicago memories are anything to go by, but maybe the worst is over?

Hey there Maryann sorry to see you've been sick, but you sound like you are getting better so that is good.

I too have been listening to those fat2fit podcasts, and keep thinking, act like the thinner person you want to be. I've redesigned my eating plan, to eat a bit more. I've also set daily goals and written a chart out for a month so I can tick off the goals. I love a good chart ... Such a geek:)

Don't over do things this week, your body might be healing still.

Hey guys -
..there's still a lot of snow up here MrVee ( this year not typical...it is usually melted a lot by now...but we got a "late dump" of white stuff over the past week....and JUST warming up this past day ... no further snow forecast, and next few days forecast around -2c or so.... so am hopeful the sidewalks will be ice-free & dry enuf soon to walk outside again... I miss outside walks...this has been one long winter up here... sheesh...

... Hey ANNa !! U R back - Yay! ...
my cold is better today...but it was a major-tuff one... I was stuck on the couch for 3 days... :(
..I luv the Fat2Fit podcasts too , the Canadian guy- Jeff , is from my province of Alberta ... although he's only on the older shows... the newly taped episodes are now Russ & a gal named Halena...I really like their information , very sound , reasonable and practical.
... luv your goals & chart .... I printed the daily weights prediction from that niddk site ... it's nice to have something in writing as a goal to aspire & compare to ( me geeky 2 ! ;) ..

..thx for reminder to not push too hard this week post-cold...I did have a bit of fever back this aftn , so will remember to take it bit easy... thx Anna.

today- first 1/2hr treadmill done , will do 2nd 1/2hr shortly,
food - well.... had errands in city this aftn... got bit hungry in the car on the road around 4pm- had a handful almonds (that I keep in my car...good emergency. "safe food").... and was really feeling tempted in the grocery store..but stuck it out....
...did end up deciding on a drive-thru supper...as was still 1hr drive to get back home...had a panini...but didn't have access to calorie count...
...looked up cal's at home...ended up at 1,450cals for the day...target was 1,300... so am 150cals over.... I think that's ok in the big-picture... 100 over on one day likely not a significant thing..

...ok .... time to go hit that treadmill for session 2 today ..... will try a bit of speed ( work on those 150xtra cals today... ;)

cheers all,
Maryann

Hey Maryann - loving the safe food option in your car - Mine wouldn't last!
Tea is a good idea too. I started having PG tea with a dash of milk mid afternoon - when I am hungry - it helps a little :)
