Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

Hey all - Tuesday ... ( back to work for me today- was nice having the 3day weekend )... View attachment 19959

~ thanks Mans,Cate & Justina for the support- my weight loss has been slow this past few weeks- but your encouragement is helping keep me on the trail ... thankyou gals - ... ;)

~ I did a calories-for-loss-calculator this weekend- for me-- it recommends 1,500 cals/day for 1.5lbs/week loss- ... & predicts Aug.2014 to reach my goal weight of 120lbs-...that's a long trail... 17months... but... with each pound lost I will feel better... so am sticking to the course- will keep at this - at 21lbs. lost - I am about 1/5 into my loss trail- so just gonna keep going - moving along on the trail ......

Plan today:
treadmill x 2
food- calorie budget- 1,200 cals - plan so far- 535(bk&lunch)- leaves 665 for supper.
*( will keep on with the alternating 1,600cals/1,200cals for this next month & see how it goes)*

wishing everyone a nice Tuesday with healthy food & some move-it-move-it - exercise !

cheers, Maryann

The "long trail" part has been the most difficult part for me. On the one hand I'm fast approaching eight months of steady weight loss, on the other hand I'm still almost 100 pounds from my goal.

Teaching me some patience though, which is desperately needed. Keep up the good efforts and work. August 2014 will get here regardless of what you do, so why not take advantage?

Hey MrVee- thanks for that perspective - Aug.2014 is coming either-way...so might as well spend the trip getting there making positive choices along the way .. I like that ....

Pretty hungry today after work- had 1 cup of quinoa salad(approx.200cals) & a big mug of hot-water...stomach seems ok for now- lions' roar- hunger View attachment 19961
-now quieted down to a mellow "meow"... View attachment 19962

Time to go do my treadmill....

Shock & suprise - View attachment 19965

- mark it on the calendar - husband brought home healthy groceries tonite - whole-wheat burger buns & fat-free mayo- .. no hints, no prompting - did it on his own ... I like it! this feels like progress.... ;)

WOW!! Kudos to hubby. Progress indeed Maryann.

Tx for your amazing support in my diary. Really appreciate it. You should look into Cohen's its really an amazing plan. I must admit the first 2 weeks is always rough for me but then again if you are a chocholic then any diet will kill you, I suppose.

Its very straight forward, you only consume whats on your plan and ALL foods have to be weighed, even your lettuce. But the rewards are stunning if you stick to it. And no exercise needed to lose weight as I hardly do exercise(which is wrong and I'm working on it).

You are doing really great though, good eating plan and you are exercising, which is brill!!

Nice!!!!
Well, my husband ate nothing but fast food over a year ago. Now he is drinking veggie juice and asking for salad for dinner.
Isn't it just great!!!? :)

Woo Wednesday - 1/2ways thru another week - ....
View attachment 19966

thanks for the support Mystic - & I am thinking this way... as long as I don't quit - I will get there eventually .... lol...

Cohen's - it does sound like something I could do Mands... I am already used to weighing and logging all my food - and while I like the flexibility to chose my own foods- even with sticking to my calorie goals- I seem to be a very slow loser, so a stricter plan might be what I need at this point ... I think I will check into it later today .... & I am stubborn & I like following routines/rules..so it sounds like would work for me...

Yes Justina - it is so nice ( & suprising for me) when a spouse starts embracing some of your healthy changes... my guy is definately a french-fry - chocolate-cake lover... but he balances his appetite with being active... I am more of a couch-girl... I have to work at movin-movin... so it was definately a nice suprise when he brought home the "healthy-choices" yesterday...and he made a point of "pointing out to me"- Look honey- look what I bought us !... lol. - he made me smile...( they just suprise ya sometimes , don't they ?? ) ... nice to hear your hubby is on-board with healthy too !

Plan today:
exercise - treadmill x 2
food - calories - planned tody- 1,332 .( went back to my old LA wtloss food plan..it's low fat, moderate carb , tons of veggies...will see how that goes..)(still trying to shake up the scale...)

breakkie this morning - ran out of my normal peanut butter - had a jar of almond butter in the pantry- so trying that with whole-grain toast ....
View attachment 19967

very interesting...the stuff is kindof like cement in the jar -with oil floating on the top -...googled on line - found a tip - empty the jar into bowl- mix with hand-blender- will stay smooth & mixed in fridge for weeks.- so I tried - yup- the hand mixer worked nicely - scooped it back into the jar.
- it does taste pretty hhmmm....how do I describe it..??- it's definately different than commercial peanut butter- no salt, no sugar - the ingredients are 1- ground almonds...tha't's it ! ...I added a teaspoon of sugar-free jam ....seems ok that way.

wishing everyone a nice Wednesday-with healthy food, good exercise & success,
cheers, Maryann

Heya all - Thursday...week is marching forward...
View attachment 19973

Plan today:
exercise: treadmill x 2, stepper at noon
food: 1,200cal budget today

...re: hunger /plateaus....as I seem to be experiencing both of these...
....did some reading on this - one site said fats(even healthy ones)...can make you hungrier...so will try & be more careful with the fat component in my daily calories
... also read that a few hours "break" from eating ( intermittant fast) can sometimes help a plateau - so am planning to shift my food earlier in the day today - an "early " supper tonite ( late afternoon) --- then nothing 'til AM ...

wishing everyone a nice Thursday ... keep on rolling,..
.. now- time for my almond-butter/toast brekkie ... View attachment 19974
cheers, Maryann

HeyMaryann,
17 months...it's shorter than you think! It was just 19 months ago I started my journey...now, granted I'm not at my goal, but I'm well on my way! You stay at it and you'll get there...remember it's a lifestyle not a diet. By the way, the fat2fitradio podcasts have started back up again...new temporary cohost while Jeff is put on medical leave...check it out!
Take care Nd good choices to you!

SarAh

thanks for the encouraging words Sarah - I will stay at it...will keep experimenting - to find what works for me.... ...today is going ok - have tuna/lots of salad & an asian pear for my lunch - it's filling -but not feeling "stuffed"... will need to remember to include lots of leafy-greens daily - ....

- I do need to stick to my healthy lifestyle...even though Im' not losing very fast, I have lost...and am not gaining...so I should be thankful for that.... I will keep on experimenting/fine-tuning my routine/food choices... to find a good balance for me- some weight-loss, but not starving hungry...

- neat to hear that fat2fit radio podcasts are back on...will check 'em out.

Maryann :)

Just keep at it Maryann! 17 months will come and go before you know it. Your hubby sounds sweet. Supportive family/significant others can make a world of difference. :D

RE: Peanut butter/Almond butter

I started to buy non-commercial healthy addictive etc free peanut and almond butter about a year ago. I am (still) finding a bit hard to adjust (my husband refuses them unless I hide them as an ingredient :p )
Basically the only ingredient in mine is: raw peanut or raw almond. They don't look pretty - as you said the texture is not as creamy and there is oil on top. I never have it on its own. i use it in cakes (so good) & brownies!!!
Or for breakfast: on toast & put some sliced banana on top - yummy like that!!!!

Hey Justina- yup- my almond-butter is the same - all natural - just the one ingredient- dry roasted almonds. :) - and the hand-mixer mixing the oil-in worked really well...it's staying mixed so far... View attachment 19990

- it does taste quite "different" from brand-names (with sugar/salt)... funny how "used" to the salt/sugar we are... but I do find it ok on my toast with a bit of jam - ..- it is a very plain flavour...

-thx for the idea of sliced-banana topping- View attachment 19991will try that to change-up sometimes from the sugar-free strawberry jam I have ...it has fruit/fruit juice/pectin/and a bit of sucralose- 20cals/tbsp.-so not too bad... ...and maybe , if I remember to do it- I could just puree a bit of fresh fruit every few days & add that on-top...(even more natural... :)

I did pick-up a jar of fresh pureed ginger today ( it smells amazing)- to add for flavour boost in my blender smoothies... will try it out tomorrow- my cal's for today already all accounted for...

My supper- lots leafy-greens experiment today worked really well- had TONs of greensView attachment 19992 ( that mix i bought earlier this week - organic baby lettuces-red/green romaine, spinach, arugula, friesee, radiccio) ( I had an 8cup container 3/4full...so about 6 cups of greens)- added a tin of tuna, some chopped tomatoe , green onion & celery - 2 tbsps. low-fat-yogurt dressing, some salt-free Mrs.Dash spice... had it with 5 triscuits whole-wheat crackers... and ate & ate & ate- took me forever to finish it...I am stuffed !! ... who would think that you could be reallly-full on lettuce??!! lol. ...happy discovery....maybe...I have finally found my low-cal amunition against hungree - lots & lots of lettuce !!

- the entire supper- including a cup of blackberries& yogurt that I'm slowly working on ( am just really full) - comes in at 475 cals... totally decent...and Reallly filling! yay !

- well, off do some ZUmba DVD View attachment 19993( chatting with a gal at work today... she talked about doing her's all the time... inspired me to give mine a shot tonite)...

..wishing everyone a nice evening... & sweet dreams of Lettuce !! ( my new secret weapon!! .... lol....) ;)

Maryann you are showing consistent weight loss and making healthy food choices. I think that in itself is a huge success and you shouldn't worry about the rate you are losing. You are also "zumbaing" up a storm and that can only be good!!

woo hoo - Friday !! View attachment 19996

& woo hoo - scale was kind this morning- 1 lb. down.... yay lettuce & yay zumba & yay all the support on this forum... ( i might not have stuck it out so far without all of you.. thx ;)

thanks Mands & Mystic for the encouragement... you really keep me going gals...

Mystic - the zumba I did yesterday is just a DVD ( the one's they advertise on TV)... I had tried the "learner" dvd in the set a couple times...but the steps are a bit tricky- yesterday...after the gal at work said she just jumped right in & did the 2nd DVD ... didn't worry about getting the "steps" exactly...so that's what I tried last nite-& it was great...the music really does make it fun.. ! ..she said she alternates the exercise/aerobic one with the weight-resistance/toning one every 2nd day... I'm gonna try that...

Plan today:
Exercise: treadmill x 3omins, zumba toning DVD-30mins.
food: budget-1,600 cals - planned: breakfst/lunch/+after-work blender-smoothie- 810cals...so have 790cals left for supper...packed a nice big container of salad with my lunch , and will be sure to include a nice big salad with supper... .think I'll pick up a roasted chicken at local grocerie for supper... feel like I deserve a 'treat" tonite-break from cooking - ....

wishing everyone a nice Friday with healthy-food choices & some fun exercise,

cheers, Maryann

Good job on another 1 pound loss!! So proud of you and the way you are sticking to it!!! It is so worth it...looks, health, general positive feelings...you name it! I've done zumba 1 time...tried it on the boat...I guess I'm just not the latin music type..couldn't seem to get the rythms right and really felt out of place...so I'm sticking to my running, elliptical, stepper and the occasional rowing machine...and maybe even some weights (if I can ever get over the weight room intimidation!)
Keep up the good work girl and you will continue to receive the "scale was good to me" signs!!

You are so right about this forum...it's helped me through some tough times and from time to time, I help others and all the times I get help! Glad we found each other!

Sarah
