Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

Hi all , Happy Saturday- nice cozy weekend at home for me - get my Xmas stuff all ready & do some healthy eats & treadmill. View attachment 19322

Thx Mystic - am happy that Florida pound is gone - now need to work on the next pound... slowly forward- I will get there ! ...

Exercise: did 1/2hr treadmill this am , planning for 2nd 1/2hr later today - also might take pooch out for a walk ( nice & sunny here today - & high is forecast around -6c...so not too bad).

Food: my calories planned for today- 1,540 . - had a 2 egg omelette for brekkie - was good.
and have a pot of my home-made tomatoe soup simmering on stove ( for today & thru week for low-cal filling lunches... I have it with triscuit-all wheat crackers and 1 oz. cheddar cheese- hits the spot)

Well, time to go do some ironing ( I think that actually burns some cals- bonus ! ) ...then decorate Xmas tree & do a bit of Xmas baking later today...I plan to freeze the baking right-away-so am not tempted-and am making only single-batches of things this year - so no extras around either !

cheers all,
wishing everyone a great weekend with good choices,

Sounds great Maryanne! I bet that soup smells great!
I'm actually on the North American continent as I write this, relaxing in my hotel room after a run this morning...life is good !
Sarah

Man that snow shovelling must burn some calories.

It's lovely and hot today here, I've been out in my garden for a couple of hours today, and more yesterday, trying to catch up on all the weeds that grew while we were on holiday.

Hi guys - yay Sunday ! ( l luv weekends... )

View attachment 19335 ( hee hee - ok - I know-... lazy is NOt good for weight loss...but it is Fun...)

Hey Sarah - glad to hear U are back in Western world gal - good work on getting in a run yesterday AM ( -doing a run while travelling- dedicated gal ! ) ...

The soup I made yesterday did turn out pretty good - I added celery, green onions nad my home-garden grown tomatoes - made enuf to last the week - so I'll have easy lunches on this busy pre-Xmas week...

Hey Anna - way to go - U made me curious on the calorie-burn with snow shovelling- so , of course, had to look it up ...( I tried the MFP- My Fittness Pal site (that Cate uses).. it says that for someone chunky like me ( 240lb.s)- I burn around 340cals/ per 30mins.snow shovelling- so... lol....guess I need to wish for lots of snow... yoy- I'd rather do my treadmill or walks...but will take what I can get... View attachment 19336

& I looked up your gardening - 1 hour gardening for a slimmer-150lb. person burns about 270cals-so not too shabby cal burn either - keep up your Weeding work girl - ...we'll both be skinny some day in our futures eh ?....

My plan today:
similar to yesterday - ( as am stuck at home on-call with work)- so doing at-home stuff....

exercise: Tread-mill - 2 x 1/2 hr ( did AM Tred.Mill this morning ,and 2nd session this aftn.)

food: plan is similar to yesterday( as we're having left-overs today- yay- don't have to cook another full meal again today) - brkfst-toast+cheese , lunch- tomatoe soup/cheese/crackers/fruit , supper: roast chicken/bit of rice/salad/fruit , snack- yogurt/fruit .

- activity- some washing today-up&down stairs, and some more ironing) , bit more Xmas baking ( I did manage to freeze yesterdays batch & only had 1/2 of 1 small square ), and probably some house-cleaning.-so will be reasonably active - off the couch !

wishing everyone a nice Sunday , with healthy choices,

cheers, Maryann C. View attachment 19337

Small victory - ..... coffee....

View attachment 19341
-hubby brought a coffee back from city for me yesterday...(nice of him to think of me- stuck at home on-call with work)....but it was a cafe-mocha ( has sugar ) - I said thx-but refused to drink it ( as the even the small mocha comes in at 190cals...)
- today , on his way out to do some errands-said he'll phone on way home & check with me Which kind of coffee I'd like ! ( I prefer the plain latte's- no sugar - and the small is only 80cals)...
(my hubby doesn't usually pay much attention- but I am guessing the fact that I didn't drink the mocha really made it clear I am serious about healthy choices these days... )

yay.

Good job turning down the coffee, and it's nice your husband is thoughtful enough to check with you on what you want.
Keep it up!

Well done Maryann! "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" by Confucius. Every single decision & every good choice we make, counts!
I know I'm a bit slow on the uptake some times, but did you say you had a high of -6 the other day? MINUS 6- a HIGH? Brrrrr. We had minus 6oC once!!! BRRRR!!!!! Pipes burst everywhere & it was SOOOOO cold. Oh my goodness! How do you cope?
Canada looks beautiful & our son is loving it. He doesn't cope well with our Tasmanian Winters so it will be interesting to see how he copes with a Canadian one.
Better scoot! xoxo Cate

Can I tell you how much I dearly miss shoveling snow? I'm just heartbroken that I don't have to do it anymore. I miss it almost as much as I miss scraping ice off my windshield.

U can teach an old dog new tricks !.... yes- yay for my dear hubby ( 'we've been married many many yrs- (you tend to get in a rut-groove after that long) - it was very nice to get the sugar-free / low-cal Latte on Sunday - I really should give him credit that he's starting to be a bit more supportive....
View attachment 19348

Yes - U did read correctly Cate - -6C high was "less cold day" here.... tomorrow is -15c high/-21c low ... our pipe's don't freeze(unless the furnace conk's out-then it is trouble)- our houses are well insulated...our car's have block-heaters( nice little power-cords we can plug-in when in parked outside that keep the engine warm-enuf that we can still start the darn things after we've parked out in the cold for many hours...)... I do wonder sometimes Vee why the heck my ancestors did decide on the cold-white Canadian praries to settle.... but , at least my hubby swears we will retire somewhere WITHout snow...can hardly wait ( I am all TOO familiar with the AM scraping off the frost from my windshield...) ...

Today stared out "off"....I'd set my alarm extra-early to try & do treadmill in AM (before heading off to work)_-View attachment 19350 ....but slept thru it , and also ended up not waking up 'til almost late for work ( sheesh)...will try again tomorrow AM- hope it goes better...

Rest of day is ok -
calories - will be around 1,500 ...( don't think I'll try for any low-cal 1,200cal days this week - just too busy pre-xmas...don't want the xtra stress/challenge)
exercise- did 1/2hr treadmill just now , and will do 2nd 1/2hr later tonite.

hope everyone having a good pre-Xmas Monday,

aaack - site lost my post - must be lots traffic on the web...yoy....
View attachment 19361
AM - no luck yet with the AM treadmill - alarm did go off ( 5:45am)...but I hit snooze- my brain just doesn't seem to want to get up & hit exercise 1st thing...will try again one more time tomorrow.

otherwise - exercise ok today - did 1/2hr treadmill so far,and will do 2nd 1/2hr later this evening.

Food - suprisingly - is good today - my food so far & menu planned for supper - I will be at 1,150 cals today- so just might get in a 1,200cal day( if I don't get too hungry & need an extra snak).

wishing everyone a good day - time for me to go get some stuff done ( maybe start wrapping some gifts- I alway seem to procrastinate on that one & end-up doing it at 1am on a nite close to Xmas.... )

cheers, Maryann C.

I have tried a few times to wake up before work to exercise and I just can't. I am NOT a morning person! Good job on eating and till getting in your treadmill workouts!

I need to do some gift wrapping too so I can work out what I still need to buy.

I find it hard to do early morning exercise too. It really relies on getting a good night sleep for me. Maybe you can aim for just once or twice a week for the early start and then you might really love it and want to do it every day? ....

Hey Mystic & Anna - ...yup - the AM exercise is a tuff-one for me.... maybe I will try your idea Anna to start with it on the weekends...then gradually add it on workdays/weekdays.... I did really enjoy it in Florida - just so nice to be up in the early AM sunshine....(maybe the fact that it's still dark at 6am here is dampening it for me too...) But I will give the start-on wkends a try...thx.

Packed my healthy lunch to work today(as usual) --- am glad I did - the treats/chocolates are EVERywhere !!

Off for some last-trip shopping this aftn - will try & park FAr Away from the stores (to get in a bit xtra walking)....

cheers all - Happy Santa-time coming ( only 6 sleeps ! )...

Maryann C.

Happy THursday !

Got a Xmas present early today - down 1 lb. this morning ! ... don't know how it happened....but I'll take it.

Supper-out last nite was funny - hubby met me after my shopping - I had salmon on a toasted roll ( only ate 1/2 the roll)- it came with choice of 2 sides...and guess what I picked?..... oh my...broccolini & quinoa salad
...could have had fries, garlic toast....but my "healthY" brain went right to the veggies & whole-grains....( maybe all this healthy thinking is sinking in....)- suprised even me !

Congrats on the pound drop. Keep eating those veggies even if I don't have the slightest idea what the hell broccolini is.

EDIT: I thought your picture was just asparagus, but I now see that it is broccolini. Interesting.

Well done Maryann on making such a healthy choice with the broccolini salad. You will find yourself making more & more of these choices as you know what the alternatives mean to your health & well-being. Thanks for being such a cheerful addition to our forum! I like your cheery pics! The forum can be very boring at times & you are brightening it up :D xoxo Cate

Hi guys - ...the broccolini was interesting ( first time I ever tried it)- bit chewy ( I think they did it a bit "too al-dente".... ) but I liked the flavor(less strong taste than broccoli)- ... am glad I tried it... I know what fries taste like- but braised broccolini was a nice new experience...yes - you are right MrVee & Cate - veggies can be very interesting & enjoyable...I think we are just "in habit" of "loving" starches(ie.fries/spuds/pasta)...without giving veggies a fair chance...

Hi Cate - glad U like the pics in my posts - I enjoy finding & adding them- makes my posting more fun for me to do too ... and posting on here daily is such a strong motivator for me.... I found my week back from Orlando - when I was unable to post- the site changed over & took a bit to get my log-on reset , I really started drifting-off of the healthy choices...so I saw , very quickly, what a positive influence this site is for me.

Today went ok - ton's of "treats" everywhere...managed to only have 1 small spring-roll & 1 small short-bread cookie ( that was doing good I figure- as I was SURROunded - ! )View attachment 19371

calories today: will be around 1,600 ( not bad I figure - considering the "treat-a-rama" happening at work these days.

exercise: did 1/2hr treadmill after work, will do 2nd 1/2hr later tonite ( gotta try & keep on squeezing in the exercise- to balance the food festivities)...

...well - time to go wrap those Xmas gifts.... .... I am so bad with this...always put it off- then regret it.... gonna go DO it ! RIGHT NOW.... then unwind with my treadmill....

cheers all , wishing everyone a nice evening,

aaackk - I was undermined by Eveeeill Xmas chocolates today.... they are EVERYwhere !!
View attachment 19378
so....have 2 boxes in our dept. at work - evil delivery-dudes gave them to us as a Xmas thankyou....nice of them...but WHy ...I ask U ....don't folks give carrotts??- would make my life easier... lol....

So - mid-aftn... shift winding down....me & co-worker....let's just have 1.... ok - it was yummy.....then....hmm... jeepers.....what would a 2nd one hurt?....so there I am - chocolate #2 - in my hand before I knew it....

Get home...and hubby has left a lovely bag of chocolates on the kitchen table....aaaack- fought that urge for about 5 minutes....and ...since I'd already had 2....what the heck- #3 chocolate .....
View attachment 19379

oh well - do not despair..all was not lost- I looked up the calories - this brand are 70cals/choc... so my 3 chokkies were 210 cals- & my cal total today was 1,600 (including the choc's)...so not too terrible ....just no evening snak tonite....

-& I will be sure to do my treadmill tonite - won't totally cover the extra-cals - but will help with my mental-health/guilt over having the choc's...View attachment 19380

- 'tis the Season I guess.... chocolates are obviously a weakness of mine that I don't totally have a good plan for yet...

- wishing everyone good choices ( better than mine were today) & IF U can't be good - then at least Have FUN !! - after-all.. IF U do Fall Victim to a CalorIE PARty- might as well at LEasT EnJoy it !!

cheers everyone , Season's greetings,
Maryann View attachment 19377
