If need a scale, most grocery stores have a simple 16 ounce scale for 5-7 dollars. You can also try a big lots or khols, they are always really cheap and discounted there. It can help sometimes
For bulk cooking like chili or soup and how to measure best...
-Count the calories of all the items you put in the dish prior. Example-1150 calories for whole pot of chicken soup.
-When you store the soup take a measuring cup and laddle out a cup at a time into another container.
-Whatever the number of times you scooped the cup in the end, divide that by you overall calories. 8 cups divided by 1150= 143 calories per cup.
-Each time you sit down to have that meal, measure it out with a cup. If you want a cup and a half then it will be 214 calories and so forth.
Don't worry if in one cup you got more good than the other cup. Keep the same count for each time, yes maybe sometimes it will be a little over 143 but sometimes it could be under too.
