Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

AOh. One more thing. I had another food sad last night. I was upset because during the days I just can't find the energy to cook myself anything decent... and all the 'pregnancy food rules' rule out going and getting myself a pre-made salad or anything (I have bought one two times now and then realisedd when I got home that I can't eat it...) , so I just end up eating instant crap. So I was sad... and felt guilty.... so today dunc and I went on a mission to the shops to find some things I can eat that are not too bad for me, will last, and take no energy to prepare. We got some tinned soups, some frozen dinners (mini veg lasagne, mini meat lasagne, some fish with tomato sauce) and a quick packet pasta that I promised to use with a tin of tuna and some frozen peas.

And yet today, with my man around, I had no problem happily spending a few hours cooking away.... weird...

AAwwww Dunc sounds lovely....But, i really don't think the rubbing oil into your boobs and belly is for you :smilielol5: That, my friend, is him being a bloke and taking advantage!!!! :)

Don't worry about gaining sweetie. Your food is great, when you said you thought the gain was chocolate i thought you must have been hoovering up bar on top of bar a day. But oh no, silly me, it was a few squares!!!!! When you are huge you will look back at this stage and laugh at what on earth you were worrying about. Your food is wonderful hun, so so healthy. You're doing great.

Fingers crossed for the bath tub house. If you get it can i come for a bath? I will bring my own bubbles :)

I'm so glad you & Dunc had a lovey-dovey day & Kate made me laugh out loud as I had been thinking the same about the oil! Dunc seems like a sweetie & why shouldn't he be! Re- lunch- you seem to eat very little for lunch. Could you have an array of salad items in your fridge, with a Balsamic dressing made up so that you always have something really healthy that can just be thrown together? I eat salad even through Winter so I always have something healthy that's ready to eat, with canned tuna usually or you could have it with Tofu or grated cheese or cooked chicken breast. I would be ravenous if I only ate 1/2 tub cottage cheese & half an apple. Do you have bread or crackers with your cottage cheese? I got hungry just reading that! I still eat 3 pieces of fruit a day. Is it outrageously expensive over there? I sound like a nag so I'll stop right now. Lots of love, xoxo Cate

AIt's been a few days since I checked in....that house is beautiful...just lovely...I could imagine holding beanie in your arms singing a sweet song as you look at that view!!! Just perfect!!

I think you have more energy when you are surrounded by love...its just that simple. Thats why u like to cook when your sweet hubby is near...Hope you find fast and easy foods that you like...u may need them even after the little one comes.

Sending hugs for tons of energy in the next trimester :)

AKate - :D hahaha you are totally right about the belly/boob oil thing, but I think it's hilarious that this is him feeling like he's 'really helping me' hahaha. Boobs are pretty off-limits at the moment, they are so sore, so this is where he cops a feel. LOL. And HAAA - about you thinking I was scoffing bars and bars of chocolate.... well there was that one day where I had lots and lots (maybe 8 truffles), plus lots of nachos - and then three big meals too... But you are right. I know I over-react, but this seems to be the only thing that I ever have a little pregnancy mod-swing about (if it even is that). And YES! come for a bath! I'll provide the ducky! :)

Cate - Yeah, I really struggle with lunch. Yesterday though, with the cottage cheese and half an apple, this was totally not normal. So don't worry too much. I think the problem with salad lunches for me is that it's really only beed the last few days that I can stomach vegetables... so I've had to try to sneak them in here and there. A salad was totally off the cards for a long time. So mayeb now I'm feeling better I can get back into something like that. I hunted around yesterday for nice flavoured tuna (I just like lemon pepper) but they don't have antyhing like that here. Just big tins. Even in the big supermarkets. So I'll have to look around for something else... And fruit has never been something I'm ever largely interested in, so I'm having to retrain myself there too...

Tetes - HIHI! Ah.. you are right about singing to beanie with that view... the only thing I really want is a rocking chair, so that would be perfect. And my friend with a bubba says that havng a bath right there is great for explosive poos haha - GROSS! NOT what I was thinking! :) And I think you are totally right about the 'more energy when surrounded by love' business- that is exactly it. I'm thinking that in our new place we'll have to get a bigger freezer (we currently have a teeeeeny one) and I'll fil it with leftovers every time I cook...

TODAY
We went down the road to the local pub with a bunch of my netball peeps and watched the rugby this morning - it's so much fun when we are half Aussies, half NZ. No surprises we lost horrifically. Pretty crap game on our behalf.

I feel like I'm getting sick... I think Dunc's parents visiting with two horrific flus might be catching up with me... I'm just really achey and have been sleeping a lot and have a sore throat. I've been chowing down the vit C and all that, and staying warm... So hopefully I'll kick it.

Here's my pics from this morning - ten weeks! Can't wait til I am over this first trimester hump and into that honeymoon period everyone talks about with the second trimester...

FOOD (so far - 4.30pm)
- apple cinnamon scroll and a cup of tea (crappy breakfast - it was all that was possible as we ran to the rugby!)
- bowl of creamy vegetable soup with a slice of rye bread
- hot chocolate and a hot lemon honey drink
(planning on soft-shell wholemeal tacos for dinner, and I'm hungry now so I'll go have some left-over roast veggies from last night)

AHeya sweeite (and beanie)
My boobs were untouchable too :( and they were bloody massive 'why do they get so huge and scrummy and i can't touch them' was all i got from Mark tee hee.

Ooooh a little rubber duck too :hurray: keeping everything crossed for you guys.

8 truffles OMG that's outragous!!!! Seriously hun, when you come on here and say 'i have just eaten a 500g bar of chocolate' then you can apologise!!

And finally......Awwwww how cute is your belly :) i can't wait til it starts moving :)

AA rocking chair would be perfect! You find out tomorrow... eeeeek!

Its the best feeling ever when bubba starts to move, and you've got so little fat on your tummy that you'll probably see the outline of hands and feet pressing up eventually :)

I did get a bit worried they'd pass their flu to you. Really hope you will shake it off and not get sick. Hopefully you'll get the house tomorrow and be so euphoric that feeling ill won't matter as much. Hopefully x

A:D Thanks Kate :D I have the feeling that there may just be a day here soon where I come and reveal my kilo chocolate consumption, if I keep going! :) I REALLLY can't wait til Beanie starts moving either! It still kind of seems unreal.... though aparently it's the size of a small apricot now! Something so little makes me feel so different...

Ruthie - :) I know! Hopefully we will find out tomorrow - we'll call about it, anyhow, so well know more, either way. YES I also was really worried (dunc was too!) when they turned up, we did lots of hugging and kissing, then they told us that they were both sick, and that she had been sick for three weeks! Bloody hell! Later on, when we told them about Beanie, they were mortified.... nothing we could do by that point though! Teaches me a lesson though, when we visit people. so always keep them informed in case they have any secrets! :)

So... I was going to have some left-over roast veggies and tacos for dinner...

TOTAL FOOD TODAY
- apple cinnamon scroll and a cup of tea (crappy breakfast - it was all that was possible as we ran to the rugby!)
- bowl of creamy vegetable soup with a slice of rye bread
- hot chocolate and a hot lemon honey drink
- leftover roast veg (though too much) and a slice of leftover pork fillet
- 2 soft-shell corn tortillas with beef mince taco filling, tomato, lettuce, tomato salsa and avocado
- 4 chocolate truffles

I start pregnancy yoga on Tuesday! So excited! And tomorrow I'm going to start hunting around for an indoor swimming pool... time to try and shake myself out of this fatigue.

AI bet yoga will help so much with your energy...along with moving in to the 2 trimester....I know there was such a difference in my two labors because I was a couch potato with one and crazy active with the other...so the more you move in most cases the better and faster the labor. 28 hours and 28 pounds gained with one and 4 hours and only 8 pounds gained with the other...yep a big big difference!! :)

Sending good vibes for good new on your possible new home!! It looks perfect! especially the tub for MAJOR clean up's...haha

You look lovely in your new photos Joh. I can't see any fat, just a beautiful little baby belly & one very happy mum-to-be. I hope you shake the cold really quickly. The yoga & indoor swimming pool sound like a great idea. I used to love yoga & now love my Tai Chi. Lots of love to you sweets, xo Cate

AHi gals!

GUESSSSS WHAAAAT?!?!?!

Just joking. We still don't know yet. The real estate people are waiting to hear back from our references. We got an email from one of them that said they just emailed their (really nice!) reference, so HOPEFULLY TOMORROW!!! EEEK!

Tete - WOW - that sure is incentive to me to get moving! Thanks for sharing! Only 8 pounds... sheesh.... you're crazy! :)
Cate - you are the sweetest! I am at that stage where I'm just feeling FAT in the belly and have to remind myself that I'm preggers, not fat. Haha. thanks for the compliment!
Kate - :) Still waiting! Thanks for checking up, sweets!

Failed my mission for today - to find a pool. But I went for a ride instead (probably only about 4km... but it got me out of the house) and made a MAMMOTH veggie curry that I'm going to put in little serves and freeze with rice as my emergency lunches. So that made me feel productive!

FOOD
- plain pancake with stewed apple and cinnamon
- 50g corn chips
- kiwi fruit and a bag of freeze dried apple and berries (says its equivalent of 1/2 cup fresh fruit)
- veg curry (cooked with 1 tin of coconut milk, about a kilo of veg, lots of water) and basmati rice
- veggie burger (grilled zucchini, grilled halloumi, tzatziki, lettuce, tomato on wholemeal bread)
- 5 choc truffles. Yep.

Rainbow, eeeeeeeep I know, I feel a bit bad that we are living such an incredible life atthe moment when I know there are people out there doing it tough... But... eek! I slept in a tent for eight months, I deserve a big bath! hahaha.
Jay - HI!!! Thanks for stopping by! My diary has been a little embarrassingly non-food related of late, but that's what a balanced life does for you, eh? I suppose! Thanks for the congrats!

_____________

GREAT day today! We got the apartment, then I conquered my fatigue head-on and went to pregnancy yoga! In English! It was so great - really gentle and strengthening, but just right. I wish all yoga was like that! And the teacher really was so aware of my ankle and looked after me. The people were so lovely and all kept looking at my teeeeny belly, when all there's were huge! They were in awe that I was there in my first trimester - they all said they could barely get out of bed - so that made me feel good! Afterwards I was invited to lunch with a bunch of other women and they were so lovely! And an enormous fountain of knowledge when it comes to pregnancy in this bureaucratic nightmare of a country (though I love it in every way, excluding paperwork!). I think I will meet lots of people from this! It's really nice, because everyone is in the same situation, with no family here, etc, so everyone is so supportive. It means a lot to meet people like this when you are away...

And then tonight was date night. :D Magic. So nice to be rid of visitors for a while! Instead of going out, we stayed home and celebrated our new Swiss house by having fondue :) hehehe. Then we went through all our wedding pictures to decide which ones to print... we haven't EVER seen them all, but my mum sent the DVD a couple of weeks ago, thinking we might now have time to look. :)

CRAPPY day food wise. crappy breakfast and a bloody muffin.... me and muffins!!! But I don't care today! Tomorrow I'm having an uber healthy day. Proud of myself and my yoga!

FOOD
- walnut scone and skim chai latte
- kiwi fruit
- thai green chicken curry with rice
- chocolate muffin
- cheese fondue (entree), slow-cooked pork loin and green salad
- baked custard (1 egg, 1 cup skim milk, 1 tsp sugar)

A:) Oooh wow, that's great that you are meeting other expat yummy mummies, and have clicked with them :) Really brilliant :D

You almost sound like you feel semi-bad about having such a fabulous place. DONT!!!!! Are you busy getting things sorted with it now? Any idea of when you'll be moving in?

How did you do today?
