Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Security on a ship queried my photo ID (I worked for the company back then) & I had to quietly explain that I had lost 36kg since the photo was taken. It felt great!! New low, new low WELL DONE!!!!!

Sorry. I heard that all the way from Arizona. Tomorrow's a weigh in day so I was going to wait until then, but caught a nice break today.

Weird weather patterns made it such that the high only got into the mid 80s today and though there was cloud cover, no real sign of rain. So I made a snap decision and got in my first local mountain hike since spring, meaning I got in my first hike in about 45 pounds.

Smashed my previous record to the top with a 27:02 (I don't think I'd cracked the 30 minute mark before) and also made it the whole round trip in under an hour which I know I haven't done before. My average heart rate of 130 was also a touch lower than the usual 134 it is for the round trip.

I probably have to wait at least another month for another shot, but it was nice to satisfy my curiosity as to in how much in better shape I am now than last time I went. The answer: a whole lot.

Awesome non-scale victory! That's such a huge improvement. So lucky you have mountains close by to just trek around when you get the urge. Actually where I live now there's mountains but they are around a 30min drive away. Plan on getting out there once we get our car!

229 this morning. Need to put a good week together here and stop the backsliding.

It's been raining all morning, but it's also been listed as 72 degrees. So if the rain ever steps I'm going to go out there and enjoy it, even if I need a kayak to get down the street.

228 this morning.

More nice weather today as monsoon season has brought a temporary cold front in to sit over the city. Only up to about 87 today. Sunny right now, but it likely will rain at some point. Going to take advantage by walking to the grocery store instead of driving.

Personal training tonight. Burnt a boatload of extra calories yesterday with 30 minutes 10% incline walking on the treadmill and 50+ minutes of basketball against the youngsters (average heart rate of 135, high of 173). Played quite well too. Did jam my left pinky though, so it's a little swollen today.

Glad to see your weight head back down for you. Nice work on the treadmill and bball. Hopefully the pinky heals quickly. It will make formal teas awkward for a while.

Any meetups/dates on the horizon? I met again with the social group my wife and I joined. I'm acting rather like a real human lately.

There's another like the last one two weeks from tomorrow. Been having some trouble with alcohol calories lately. Trying to be social while trying to mind my calories is not easy, particularly when you're out and about for six hours or so.

Working every bit as hard (if not harder) on the exercise front as ever, but on the calories front I need to get back on track. It's also a little frustrating to have to be content with losing a little muscle to go with losing a lot of fat. I want to _add_ muscle from here, but that's just not realistic until I get down to a weight where I can switch to maintenance calories. And I just don't think 225 is that weight.

I guess I'll know more once I get my body fat tested. Going to the doctor on Thursday to get a physical from him and to get his ok on the test.

The only way to lose fat without losing muscle is to do it very slowly. You're probably better off hitting a weight/% that will be good to maintain. If you keep up the exercise and maintain your weight you will become leaner in time. It's awesome that your worries have shifted so drastically. It seems a very short time ago that you were debating on the second seat on a plane and now it's beach muscle worries. Nice!

" It seems a very short time ago that you were debating on the second seat on a plane and now it's beach muscle worries. Nice!"I like that Quercus! Now picture muscly Vee on the beach, drinking tea....
228...almost at that 150lb mark Mr Vee! It will be interesting to hear what your doc says about your health & fitness. It would have to be good! Cheers Cate

Thanks MR. Good to see you around.

227 this morning.

I'm a bit of a soccer fan and the good news is that the USA qualified for the World Cup last night. Yay! There was a time last year where one of the motivations for losing the weight was the possibility of going to Brazil for the World Cup next summer. But I just don't think that's realistic at this point. Now that it's certain the USA will be there, I suppose it's still possible I'll change my mind.

No personal training today. Today is the only day where the cooler weather isn't colliding with the warmer weather, so we get one day today with a high of only 90, but also sunny all day. No personal training, so maybe I'll mountain hike. The highs are supposed to be near 100 for the next 10 or 11 days after this. Around mid October is when the oven finally shuts off until next May.
