Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Thanks Xenon. To be fair, hugging the curves of models is something I've always wanted to do, so it's no surprise I'm succeeding at it. :)

254.5 this morning (alcohol affected probably) and that is a new low and takes me past the 120 pounds lost mark. Just 4.5 pounds away from a huge milestone (moving the poise on the scale, dropping below 250 and dropping a third of my original weight).

The high is only going to be 90 today and so today will probably be the coolest day of the next 4-5 months. I could give the mountain a try. It will be 79 at 10 am and 82 at 11 am: warm, but pretty doable if I take enough fluid.

Must grocery shop today as I am out of cheese and that's an unacceptable situation.

Nice, a new low, congrats!

I too noticed the effect of alcohol on the scales when I weighed every day.
Very much the reason I weigh in on Thursdays right now, pretty far removed from the past weekend, which for me usually has something to do with alcohol. A whole lot less alcohol these days (I've got quite some of those drunken stories which pretty much could be a prequel to "The hangover" movies), but still alcohol present.

Why is it that you weigh less when you've been drinking the night before? Is it because alcohol draws water from your body (which also makes for those nasty hangovers sometimes)?

Yeah alcohol is a diuretic; it dehydrates you. That's part of what causes hangovers, part is due to blood sugar crashes. This is why my old days hangover cure of a Hostess' Cupcake and a regular Coke worked so well. The Hostess' Cupcake is not part of the diet plan these days, though I can have a regular Coke from time to time if I please (which I did have this morning).

Wow!! 120 pounds lost is amazing!!! Hope you make it out for your hike tomorrow. You may have had a low day today due to alcohol but if I weighed tomorrow (at my parents' house so no scale) I would be SKY HIGH!! Big mexican meal this evening! I'm sure my sodium is through the roof!

254 this morning.

Tried a new trail yesterday. It was interesting and a bit more challenging, but the trip down was no fun at all. WAY too nerve wracking. It was also really freakin' busy. I expected that because it's the summit trail (though I didn't go all the way to the top).

No exercise today, though I may go to the health club and use their steam room to try and help my congestion.

4 of the 6 items I had on consignment have sold! And so I managed to pick up three shirts with the proceeds. I went with an XL size and haven't tried them on yet. Either they'll fit now or fit soon. Now that I see how well this has worked, I think I'll drop some more off.

Oh man steam is the best for congestion. Hope it gets you feeling better if you go. Exciting about the XL...I actually just bought a shirt today that is just a bitttt too tight, so it is great motivation to get another few pounds off. Love the mentality you have...either they fit now or they fit soon! Awesome :) Have a great week!

Congrats on being oh so close to your next milestone! We're both within a very close range to our next milestones. Very exciting! I'm sure you'll get to yours before I get to mine though.

I hope you're feeling better!

Yeah I'm feeling better, but I'm still a little congested and now I have to deal with the scratchy throat. Could be worse.

254 again today. Later today I'm going to post a few things about the model. Crunched for time at the moment though.

Guaifenesin helps congestion. 200-400mg is suggested dose, but maximum daily is 2.4 grams. I take close to the maximum dose when it gets really bad. Of course I have asthma so when I get congested it can get very difficult to breathe. You sound like you are on the downhill side of this though.

Awesome work on 254! I'm interested to hear about your model. Did you give me a spreadsheet of the model? I thought you had, but I've only been able to find the body fat estimator spreadsheet. My memory is awful, so maybe you didn't.

Been taking the Guaifenesin the last few days and it has helped. Now it's just getting over the lingering effects. I feel perfectly fine otherwise.

Will post an updated model spreadsheet when I post the rest of the stuff later. I'm going to post a look at how well the model did at predicting my future weight using only the data up until October 2012.

Let's go back to page 6 of this thread on October 31, 2012 and see what I had to say:

"323 this morning and one of today's projects is punching new holes in my belt. Always a good thing. "

Okay not exactly inspiring. But let's pretend I used the 50 data points I had collected (IE, my morning weigh-ins) from August 3 to October 31 to make my model. The graph of it would look like this:

With the red lines being the data up until that point. That was 201 days ago. How would that model have done for the next 201 days (IE not changing the model at all from there like I normally do as more data comes in)? Let's see:

I'm actually quite impressed. Way back on Halloween the model predicted that on today's date my weight would be 256.4. It is in fact 254. That ain't a half bad guess particularly since last Friday it 256.5.

But as you can see, it looks like for the two months or so I've pretty consistently been under that model's prediction. In any event, this definitely qualifies as a "proof of concept" for the model. As long as I continued to stick to the plan (which I did) my weight over time has dropped in a fairly orderly and obviously predictable fashion. I find this important to me, because it really does help put the occasional ups and downs into perspective and gives me a solid idea of where I'm really at.

Here is a link to where you can download the model:

If there's some sort of problem getting it working, let me know. Instructions are on there.

Thanks for this MrVee! I want you to know that I appreciate the time, thought, and effort put into your model and I'm grateful that you are willing to share it. I will get it up in my diary as soon as I get it updated.

I'm astonished at the accuracy of your model and in your control in strict adherence to your plan.

Can your model tell me our next president? I may need to make some arrangements.
Seriously, your predictive model AND your focus staying with your regimen over the last year has been amazing.

253.5 this morning, a new low. As for predicting the next president, Nate has that covered.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm hoping that the success continues. Certainly I think I'll continue to stick to the plan, just hoping the plan keeps working.

According to the model, 235 is a mere 10 weeks away at the end of July. I can actually place a date on the last time I weighed that little: roughly a few weeks before Christmas in 1998. Why I remember this is personal, but suffice it to say, that's a big number for me. It's been a very long 14 and a half years, and yet it's seemed so short at the same time. Weird...

Great job on the new low and being so close to a significant number!
