Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Interesting weights for the week

213.5, 217.5, 217, 216.5, 213.5

I'm suddenly convinced that people screw themselves up weighing themselves after a bad day eating. They see they've gained like 3 to 5 pounds and freak. But of course Quercus was right earlier when he said there was no way I ate 14,000 extra calories on Monday.

It's all very odd. Heading out to the mountain now for a late afternoon hike!

Odd increases in the middle there...glad it's back down. Probably random water weight or some other weird things going on. I second Cate's Gremlin theory.

Have fun on the mountain!

I decided this week I'm going to start weighing myself only once a week. The fluctuations are all too frustrating. Glad to see yours came back down! :)

212.5 this morning. All the way back down to where I was last Saturday.

Back from personal training, today was shoulders day and now my arms are no longer functioning. I'm typing this with my nose...

Hey your weight was on a roller coaster this week! Good job you brought it back down again!
I stopped weighing myself excessively. & Defo try to avoid weighing myself after a bad day!
I admire you for hiking so much! I just started doing it. Well that's a bit of an exaggeration - I went once. I joined a group. & these people are hard core - as i said I went once - then I chickened out. The thing is it's my feet - I get blisters after walking 2 hours. Any recommendation for hiking shoes? I really could do more than 2 hours - not tired - just need to fix my feet!!

Ben using these to hike since new years (about 10 months now):

Obviously that's a men's shoe. I really like them and because I got them in all black they can double as an all purpose shoe though I probably wore them out too quickly doing that. I need a new pair pretty soon.

212 this morning. That's a new low and a half pound from the next milestone, which has tomorrow as its due date. Suspense...

Thanks! They look cool - they have some for women too - I hope they have them in retail stores too - need to try them on b4 buying!

Well done on the new low! x

Hope you hit your sub 30 BMI milestone today! I really liked my Merrel Moabs. The vibram soles kick butt. I need a new pair myself.

Those shoes could be the ones I have on right now! Mine are Rockports. They are so comfortable. I almost always end up in men's shoes as women's are usually too impractical & uncomfortable. Welldone on still being on the wagon V!

Well, the World Health Organization can now officially kiss my ass: 211 this morning for a BMI of 29.8. Meaning that, according to them, I am now no longer 'obese', merely 'overweight.'

That is, of course, a new low and a milestone reached. The next milestone? Well there doesn't appear to be any way around it. The next milestone is a "move the poise on the scale" milestone and it's a big one: 199.5 is the next target. As HUGE as this one is, something suggests to me that my reaction to it won't be quite as dramatic as when I broke 300. I literally teared up on that one, and I'm guessing for this one I won't be quite as emotionally affected.

Still, it's a big deal and we're now talking about weight territory I thought I'd really never see again.

A spectacular achievement MrVee! You are down 164 pounds. That extra human is gone. Your on the fine tuning end of things. I'm super proud of you man!

MrVee, we're all going to have those extra special milestones. I thought mine would be breaking the 200lb barrier, but now that I've gotten through I think it'll really be breaking 180lb. That's the lowest weight I can ever recall being and that was in my teens (in my 30's now). When I finally got below 200lb, don't get me wrong, I was relieved and very happy, but my mind immediately shifted to the 180lb mark. Which for me, at the rate I'm going, should happen by this time next year. HAHA!

In all seriousness, I know I don't need to say this, but be proud of yourself. Be VERY proud of yourself. What you've accomplished is not only amazing, but it really shows your hard work and persistence, and of course how dedicated you've been. :)

209.5 this morning as the the always welcome downward weight fluctuation has hit. That's 165.5 pounds lost now. Those first two digits are kind of astonishing to me right now.

I suppose, if you want to fight the psychological battle with weight loss as best as you can, there's two approaches:

1) Don't let the upward fluctuations get you down, but also don't get too excited over the downward fluctuations. The "even keel" approach.

2) My approach: Let the upward fluctuations annoy you a little and motivate you if necessary. Allow yourself a smile and enjoy when they fluctuate down.

In either case, I think the key is to pay more attention to the good than the bad as I think that's the best way to both encourage and motivate yourself.

I second that. Telling myself what I did that was good makes me feel better so I will not grab a bag of chips and say it doesn't matter anyway. It does matter.

And Wow and the 165.5...You're my hero. :cheers2:
