So to start off I am a 27 year old female who is 20...ahem 30+ kilos overweight (jeez thats hard to write) and have decided to make 2014 my year to be fit and healthy..... just like 2013 was supposed to be..and 2012, 2011, you get the idea. HOWEVER- this time I am going to write a blog so all you wonderful people can keep me accountable! I will be posting daily (if possible) updates with all aspects of my weight loss journey revealed - warts and all!
To begin, my stats as they are...
Height: 1.64m
Weight: 100.9kg (222 pounds - that has a nice ring to it)
Goal Weight: 65 kg (143 pounds)
Total loss of: 35.9kg (79 pounds)

Im not going to convert to pounds anymore it hurts my head you will just have to deal in Kilos! I started my healthy eating 5 days ago after a very embarrassing and stressful conversation with my husband who caught me sneaking chocolate bar wrappers into the bin.... My plan is to spend the next 4 weeks working up to be able to run for 15 mins without stopping (right now I couldnt run if I was being chased by a machete wielding T-Rex) and I am also following a plan form the PUSH book by Chalene Johnson- very much enjoying by the way, up to Day 7 and have so far established my health and Career goals for this year so my blog will also follow the progress of that.
Next week I am going to also take a class in Mixed Martial Arts as I enjoying kicking things and thought this would be more productive than simply destroying furniture and/or fresh fruit and vegetables. Also my Hubby does Aikido and I really want to beat him especially when he leaves his dirty clothes on the floor.
So here goes, day one of the blog so far feeling confident and motivated - am due for a walk/run after work will try for 3mins running with a 2min walk in between to start. I will post my measurements and Pre-Healthy photos soon!

I understand the conversion can be frustrating and don't blame you for not wanting to always convert. One milestone to keep in mind: 199.5 lb=90.5Kg, and off course the 1Kg to hit under 100 Kg :)

I know the whole sneaking wrappers into the garbage bit. Never been caught but I've done it before because I'm embarrassed at what I've eaten, or I've told A I wasn't going to anymore but caved and did. But you are hopefully passed that and are on a healthier path now. With that said, do not beat yourself up if you slip now and then. It happens to all of us. Just brush yourself off, try to find out why you did it, forgive yourself and move forward.

That Mixed Martial Arts sounds like a great idea! Good way to get some frustration out and get a workout in at the same time :)

As an engineering student, I convert between kilos and pounds pretty regularly. A good rule of thumb is that 1 kg is roughly equal to 2.2 lbs, so multiply the weight in kg by 2.2 to find the weight in lbs.

Also, I've done the sneaking thing before. Never been caught and I had only done it a couple of times, but it was what made me really stop and examine my behavior and my attitudes toward food.

My plan is to spend the next 4 weeks working up to be able to run for 15 mins

I'm currently run/walking at 150 kilos. In the past my shins and joints hurt and I get really sore and don't stick with it. I have been using a heart rate monitor watch with a chest strap that alarms when I'm above or below the aerobic zone. This has kept me at a pace and effort that is somewhat difficult, but not punishing. I don't have to worry about how fast or how far I go or how much running vs, walking that happens. I can just stay in the aerobic zone each workout and every tiem I can run faster/farther/longer than before. I really look forward to being able to sustain a run for any amount of time, but this method means you don't over do it on your way there.

I spent under $50 dollars for mine and it has been reliable. If you decide that sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

Good luck on your exercise and diet! This is a great place for positive support and good advice. Take a look at MrVee's diary if you get the chance. He has made phenomenal progress in a consistent and healthy manner.

Thanks for all your support and advice guys - I will definitely check out a heart rate monitor seems like a really good way to keep in the right zone!!
I had an ok weekend - I always struggle to stick to a healthy diet on the weekends when there is no structure to my day and I usually end up eating out of boredom - managed to avoid that this weekend for the most part, and weighed myself this morning - now under 100kg WHOOP WHOOP!!! I weigh 99.4 and my body fat percentage is 48% so thats a loss of 1.4 for my first week - I'm stoked! Upped my "running" to 5mins during my daily walk with 5 sets of sit-ups, pushups and squats at the end, and tomorrow is my first MMA class which I'm very excited about! Hubby has decided to join me for the class- will be nice to do something together but now he will know all the sneaky tricks I learn! Might have to youtube some to sneak in there and surprise him. Feeling pretty good - writing on this really helps to keep me focused know people will be reading this!! Anyone know how to add photos? Once I figure that out I can add my "before" pics. My PUSH book has me writing to-do lists breaking my major goals down into weekly ones such as the running for 5 mins, and now off to the mall to look at an armband for my iPod and heart rate monitors.
Loving the new confidence I'm feeling with just a small loss- may it continue!

1.4 is awesome! Glad hubby has decided to join you, that's sweet :)

If you look in the box where you type, on the right of all the fonts, sizes, smilies, is a little world, an envelope, etc. The 4th picture in is of a picture frame type thing. Click that to upload photos from your computer!

So MMA class was awesome - had to roll out of bed this morning as cannot walk properly.... looking forward to tomorrows class though! It will kick my ass into shape real fast - just gotta stick with it! Here are the dreaded "before" pics.... yikes, scary seeing that on screen but looking forward to comparing them in 6 months time!
Also have a hens night this weekend - will have to do extra exercise to make up for all the booze!!View attachment 21640View attachment 21641View attachment 21642

Great job getting under 100 kilos! MMA is fun, but very demanding. I haven't done it in a long time, but I enjoy it and boxing, and both are great exercise and wonderful stress release. One of my long term goals for getting my back healthy is to spar again. Probably just boxing as you can do that without a proper gym. :boxing:

Up to 6:30 mins running now before having a breather- stoked as that is double my time from two weeks ago! I will be running for hours in no time :)
Boxing sounds good Quercus - it is definitely a workout on the arms! Today I have a full day of work, then MMA class and have to find time to buy booze and bake a penis cake for the hens night tomorrow!! looks like its going to be a busy one....

98.7 today woohoo! steadily on the decline - very sore from MMA yesterday but they siad I should be able to grade in a couple of weeks! very exciting for me....

So jealous you get to do MMA. There aren't any affordable martial arts classes where I'm at. Keep it up! :D

Hubby has decided to join me for the class- will be nice to do something together but now he will know all the sneaky tricks I learn!

My girlfriend (Jen Renee) and I began working out together this past week and, in all honesty, I can tell you that exercising (and eating healthy) with your significant other is AWESOME. It keeps you motivated and it actually makes the hard work a little bit easier. Also, I think it makes you appreciate each other more because you see how hard the other person is working - not just for themselves, but to support you as well. And, that's an awesome thing.

Good work so far. Keep it up.

Eugh what a weekend!!! had a great time at the hens night, but totally went nuts on the food - it was ridiculous I didnt even want it but ate it anyway!! So im back up to 100.2kg this morning :( feeling bloated and horrible! determined not to make the same mistake and go back into that old pattern - going for a run after work and eating VERY healthy this week! Will weigh myself again in the next couple of days to see if hopefully some of the weight may be fluid from the excess alcohol.....
The MMA classes are expensive but my thinking is its for my health and it is far more expensive to be overweight and have all the health issuse that come with that - i have cut out my daily latte and just drink herbal tea instead so I can go to my classes :)

So weighed again this morning and im now 99.2kg so a difference of 1kg overnight - must have just been retaining water or something from my big weekend - much happier with that result. Looking forward to MMA class tonight - its good to have a hobby that hubby and I can go to together :)

Have now got my jogging up to 10mins, and MMA twice a week - feeling so much more energized and happier already- not quite seeing the results I want yet but still not giving up! I am using a calorie counting app on my phone to track all my food- generally I struggle to eat all my calories during the week, but usually blow out on the weekends - I know that cant be good for my poor body! Have to really focus on moderating my food this week.

New week, had a really great weekend, was very good and went for a big hill walk. Got up at 5.45am for a run and now up to 12mins whihc is exciting. Also weighed this morning and im now 98.4kg, stoked!! have lost over 5cm around my waist! looking forward to going home tonight as I have already exercised today so I have hours of free time, I alos feel much more energised compared to a usual day, will continue to exercise in the morning if I can :)

Hey, just wanted to say that you look great in those pictures! You're gonna look so awesome once you get to your ideal weight, too. It's fantastic that you've been losing weight, and if you just keep your thoughts positive, you'll keep seeing results. I went up and down so much in my weight, I'm finally working on my MENTAL view of it all rather than just pushing myself one way or the other. It can make a world of a difference.

Keep going, make this year the best year ever!
