Lisa's Final Countdown, The Good Days, the Bad, & the Ugly

Zomg the this week has been a rollercoaster and I just wanted OFF. I've been stressing SO bad I was almost in tears this morning.

I worked all weekend and also the night shift Monday and Tues., 10-12 hour shifts. I managed to get 4 hours sleep and then got up to study and take my Trig test Monday morning. Then I got to my chem class and found out I had a chem exam coming up on Wednesday. With work and my classes I had no time to study.

Then Tuesday afternoon I had an asthma attack and had to use my inhaler and got insomnia as a result. So come Wed. I would have been trying to take an exam after only having 3 hours sleep since Monday evening. I went in and begged my professor to let me take the exam this morning and he finally conceded but I had to get documentation from my boss that I worked those shifts. I got that on my way home yesterday then came home and passed out.

I woke up last night and tried to study and was still too tired and went back to bed and kept reseting the alarm for one more hour from midnight until 4 am. I finally got up this morning and forced myself to study but it's so hard to study for this class. The teacher prides himself in making things difficult and on tests he purposely tries to trip people up. So this morning I so tired and very emotional and stressed and came very close to withdrawing from the class.

What stopped me is I knew I would regret it since I'd be losing the money I paid..over a thousand for that and the lab. So I went to the testing center where they let you take longer for the test and it took me two hours to finish....in class he only gives 50 minutes but allows anyone to take it in the testing center if they want for more time.

Amazingly I did well I think because he put the answers up online already. A few problems I had a brain freeze on and had to skip and just keep coming back to look at them and finally it clicked ...but unfortunately I made a minor math error on one and my calculations were off by a bit. I think he'll only take some points off though and I'm pretty hopeful that I'll get a B. Another professor and I'd probably be getting A's but he is very difficult. The first test 67% of the class failed, if that tells anything. Anyway I plan on either trading shifts or taking a vacation day the night before the next test so I can sleep before hand.

Oh and did I mention I haven't had my car for almost two months now? Our friend is a mechanic and the last 3 years always been amazing about fixing stuff the first time. But this car is being a stinker and he's even taken it to a mechanic who knows alot about oldsmobiles and everytime they think they've found the problem and he brings it back to me it stalls again.

Then today my computer crashed while I was studying ;/ I got a blue screen saying windows had shut down because of an error and if this was the first time yada yada etc. I was in a hurry and rebooted and it came up with a black screen and blinking cursor. With no time to deal with it I went to school and came home and couldn't get any response, even after I stuck my windows reformat CD in. I took it into the computer shop and they've had no luck today as of yet and will be working on it more tomorrow. Thankfully my husband listened to me and didn't let his friend talk him out of our extra tower because that's what I have hooked up now. I'm having the worst luck with anything electrical these days ;/ Even the lcd screen on my digital cam is messed up now.

I know it sounds weird but this kind of stuff stresses me out, especially since we are tight on money and everything is breaking. The car I think is the worst...I just want my car back. I've been driving hubby's and his doesn't smell to pleasant ;/. I should clarifiy it's not his fault though, he got it smellin weird, lol. We just didn't realize at first.

Keepasecret, Karl and Kristi, all you "K" people, lol. Thanks for checking in on me. I haven't had any chance to try any recipes...as you can see from my previous rants about the past week.

Shandy and Stacy, ty so much for taking the time to follow up on the recipes. Soon as I get a chance I'll try them out. I have to be honest that I've not been doing too well on my eating since Tues. with all the stress and no sleep or time to even think straight. I've also been getting mad cravings so I think my tom is due here pretty soon.

And Leonora, I think I've had pcos for at least 15yrs without a diagnosis. I knew something was wrong but doctors are quick to brush off heavy people and tell me to just lose weight. The symptoms got so bad they couldn't tell me nothing was wrong anymore so I ended up going to an endocrinologist. She's awesome knows what I'm going through because she has pcos and insulin resistance too.

To find out if I had it because they go hand in hand all she did was run a sugar test. They can take a blood sample that actually shows a 3 month average and mine was testing low end diabetic. I started testing my sugar everyday with a meter and those readings were above average too so all of that together confirmed the insulin resistance. Once I got on metformin it was amazing how much of my cravings calmed down. Anyway if you have anymore questions let me know.

Food today so far

Breakfast:
Kashi cereal *2oz measured :D 200 cals
1/2 cup soy milk (cuz I'm lactose intolerant so don't be too impressed, lol) 50 cals
1 Kiwi, large 50 cals

Calories- 300

I really like this but it doesn't stick with me for very long at all, especially when I'm at school until afternoon. I'm thinking it would be good to swap and eat my bigger meal at breakfast and use this at lunch or dinner...depending on how hungry I am at which meal.

*afterthought* I went to the Kashi website while I was thinking about it because I always see Kristi's food log with Kashi stuff. While I was there they have a free offer right now to send a free cookie :) Mmmm....cookies....

hey lisa, just popping in to see how you're doing. You sounded pretty frazzled earlier with the car and computer issues. I'm sorry :hug2: I hope things start getting better for you soon.

Thanks Shandy...it's my day off so I'm just tryin not to think about it. I called the computer place and they're hectic but they haven't figured out what's wrong yet so I'm nervous. It's not like they can just reformat either because it's not responding to the windows disk and all that shows is a blinking no responsive cursor on a blank screen. So I'm nervous that my computer is done for and all that money wasted....I haven't had it but a few years and I paid way to much for it so I'm gonna be pissed if it's not fixable or I have to pay alot to fix it. Anyway...think I'm gonna go back to not thinking about it, lol. Did you follow that Kashi link and get a free cookie yet? :D

I think I'm definitely going to have to get more picky and creative...650 cals for some old cold chicken and cottage cheese ....not sure it was worth it, lol. So anyway I have about 1000 cals left for dinner...plenty of room and better than I've done in days.

yay! great job, and you even got taco bell!!! I have to run in the other direction if I so much as smell taco bell. not because it's bad, but because I eat so damn much of it in one sitting! it's sad. taco bell and biscuits and gravy are the 2 things I can out-eat my husband with. :svengo::blush5:

In my book you know what the only thing better than biscuits and gravy is? HASHBROWNS and gravy! Alas that has ruined many a low-carb diet for me. Thankfully no more atkins, lol.

*WAVES** thanks for stopping by the journal.

mm gravy goes good with anything. though in general i prefer my hashbrowns with maple syrup. i think it's a canadian thing.

I can't do low carb diets. I require way too much bread and pasta to be happy. I'd rather give up every mildly salty food i own ( since i find sticking to low sodium easier) and ever sweet than give up my bread and pasta.

Btw go you you're even measuring your cereal so you get the correct calories there.

Yea I still kinda watch where my carbs are coming from and try to avoid eating too much white flour and sugar but I just couldn't do the strict low carb anymore. Strangely it was things like rice and fruit I was missing more than the bread. What's funny is I'm losing more by counting carbs and eating balanced than I was on Atkins and my cravings are usually under control...well except this week :X.

And thanks :) I love my new food scale...my hubby thinks I'm nutty cuz I'm always measuring stuff, lol.

Thank god I don't live down south, because biscuits and gravy would kill me!! Thankfullythey aren't a big NE thing. Taco Bell, I can resist all day long, 'cuz it doesn't even smell good to me.

Hope you are able to de-stress :hug2: Lisa, although, you seem like you're staying on track even with car and computer issues.

See ya 'round.

Yea...SEEMS like I was stayin on track but if you look closely you'll notice there's about 3 days worth of food logs not accounted for :X

So today was a horribly stressful day to end a horribly stressful week. Something is now wrong with my husbands car too. Guess it's time for me to get away from mechanical things cuz I keep breaking them. Glad tomorrow is Sunday and hoping things improve.

On an up note, I weighed myself this morning first thing BEFORE breakfast this time and I'm a pound less than I thought, woohoo. Also Friday I took my recumbant bike back to Walmart and got the regular upright one in hopes I have less difficulty using it. Soon as it's assembled I'll post how it goes.

Food for 10/11

Breakfast:
French fries 4.38 oz - 331 calories (yes I weighed them, lol)
Frozen lasagna- 290 calories

total 621

Lunch: small frozen pizza- 470 cals

Dinner
Lasagna - 378 cals
1 slice garlic cheese toast - 205 cals
4 pieces of Spanakopita-180 cals

2 healthy choice fudge bars - 200 cals

Total for the day-2054

For anyone wondering what "Spanakopita" is, I'd never seen it before today. It's spinach and cheese in filo dough and it's great...but when I first glanced at the box I thought that said "spank a pita" :)

Mmm, spanikopita. It's been a long time since I had that.

Thanks for stopping by my journal! This is one of my busy times of the year at work, and between that, my partner going back to work full-time, and me taking over more of the kidlet-duties, I haven't been posting much.

Well glad it's just a seasonal thing :) I'd hate to think we lost ya year round, lol. Hope stuff on your plate lightens up soon, miss ya for sure. You always have great advice and thoughts on stuff so seems weird when I don't see you posting around as much. I've always appreciated the support and you've helped me alot so thanks :D
