Looks like another bad fire day, hubby was out fighting the fire at tinnanbar yesterday for 12 hours, he is getting some extra sleep this morning before he goes out again, another new fire just appeared on the map this morning. hubby has been told he may have an all nighter tonight.

Australia would be burned to a crisp if it wasn't for people like your husband. Please tell him "thank you", from someone who appreciates what he does.

Wow, Tru, sorry you are having so much trouble with all the fires and hope you are getting good air to breathe!

I think they have to come up with a better measure than BMI. My mom and I are within 5 pounds of each other in weight, and exactly the same height, but I am about 3 or 4 pants sizes smaller and can jog about 10 minutes before breathing heavier, whereas my mom can walk about a half a block before being covered in sweat and being out of breath.

Body fat percentage is a good measure, but it's much harder to determine accurately. The thing about BMI is that it shouldn't be used (and wasn't meant) for individual use. It's a tool for statistics, to be used on the population level, and for that it's not bad.
The problem with us humans is that we always want simple answers instead of really looking at each individual case.

yep, BMI was devised by a mathematician.

Lambert Adolphe Jacques Quetelet said explicitly that it could not and should not be used to indicate the level of fatness in an individual.

sitting here trying not to stress, hubby just got called out to another fire, on our road (about 5 km away). I wish we would get some rain !!!

hubby is back somebody torched a car on the edge of the forest, any closer to the tree and there could have been serious problems.

The snow was also in Canberra

I have tried sending our rain your way but it obviously didn't work. The world is a crazy place, Tru. We don't want to get into the heads of the people who deliberately light fires & endanger so many lives & do so much damage & cause so much fear. If we did we'd go crazy with despair. Stay safe, Tru xo

The bad fire conditions are going to continue till at least Tuesday, hubby is back out at another fire, and may not be home tonight, Eating was not perfect today, had a few too many carbs but they were partially planned and within limits.

If this is the first cyclone of the season it may at least put an end to the fires.

hubby went out to back burn in the Great Sandy National Park at 4pm yesterday afternoon, he got home this morning just before 7am, just enough time to shower and get dressed for work today. I drove him to work today as he expect he will not be in any condition to drive home tonight.

I think fire is far worse than the possible cyclone that is moving in.

Man, you guys deserve a long, relaxing vacation after this is over. Hopefully somewhere lush and dripping with rain. So sorry you are going through so much, and for so long. Wow.

One of the worst things is that this is the sub-tropics, with mostly rain forest that is burning, wet season should already have started. For those in the US imagine the rain forests in Florida going up in smoke.

In Australia these types of fires usually only become a problem in the southern states which have in general much lower humidity. Tasmania where cate is also has bad fires during some summers. The fire season in the southern states has not really started yet but those states are prone to bushfire like southern California.

That's really alarming that global warming has gotten so bad that rainforests are burning from drought. I really feel for you guys. Maybe the natural disasters will cancel each other out?!
