Lazy day

Stationary bike moderate pace

30 minutes, 12.6 km, avg 200 watt output, heart rate only reached a max of 120 and averaged a comfortable 100

474 calories

tomorrow likely to be another lazy day, task tomorrow is to attach velcro to lifting boards, and if it stops raining help my son pull all the camp gear out and check it in prep for year 11 school camp.

Hope you enjoy your version of a "lazy" week-end Tru. I'll send you some of our sunshine, albeit, without much kick in it....it comes with a frost to begin with xoC

Thanks Tru,

The wheat/bread I could manage without but oatmeal/potatoes would be tough to fill in. Would have to eat more veggies which wouldn't be a bad thing.
Nice job on the light workout for the recovery day.

quiet day

diet - spot on
Exercise - several trips up and down the driveway for washing and other chores probably covered about 5k

Really hoping my middle son does well on his QCS exams today and tomorrow, they form a part of determining what OP he gets for Uni entry, he hopes to get an OP 1 or 2 which would ensure he gets into any course he wants at any Uni in the country. He is aiming for a position at the Australian National University to do either Mathematics or Engineering before doing the other degrees he needs for experimental archaeology.

As for me, I will hit the gym this morning, need to push a bit harder, have not been feeling any DOMS which means I am probably not doing enough. I may be a bit strange but I like DOMS lol.

yesterday I had to pick up my youngest sons new black dress trousers from the tailor, with the size of his legs now clothes don't fit of the rack any more, hell most of his clothes no longer fit not because he is getting taller but because he is so muscular he is tearing them at the seams. this is getting expensive :( especially if he makes a qualifying lift for Commonwealth and Asia/Oceania championships this year because the cost of travelling to Canada and Uzbekistan is out of my budget to pay for his tickets and mine. I hope that if he qualifies that he will understand, treating it as a practice run and hope the championships next year are closer and possibly qualify for worlds instead.

At the Gym this morning

Bench Press

Warmup: bar X 10, 40kg X 10, 50 kg X 10

Working Sets: 3 X 8 @ 60 kg, 5 X 5 @ 70 kg

Squat

10 @ 60 kg, 5 X 3 @ 100 kg

Deadlift 10 X 10 @ 60 kg

Feeling good this morning, Shark Week is almost over, I need to walk some washing down the hill to the shed before heading in to use the treadmill at the gym.

At some point I need to get back into running to the local shop but it is over 5k each way over category 2 hills with no shoulder on the side of the road, so road trains can give you a bit of a fright.

Snakes are out and about already, there was a Taipan on the driveway yesterday afternoon so I should double check that the snake bite kits in the house and shed are all ok.

 Taipans! Our Tiger snakes arevery shy mostly, thank goodness. That's early for a snake Tru! Ignoring bullshit applies to most sports I think. I'm about to go to Women's golf (I refuse to call it 'ladies") & I need a bullshit shield. Here's to getting fitter & healthier & ignoring bullshit! xoC

Bike this afternoon before football training (probably last for the season)

I love the cold of tassie, I hate summer up here but winter still means shorts and T-Shirts lol, I have tan lines from winter football season lol.

When hubby and I were deciding where to move to when we left Canberra I wanted Tassie he wanted Queensland, ended up in Queensland because that is where the work was.

This afternoon was football training - 400 calories

Coaching went well last night, When I am coaching I do a lot of moving of plates around the gym so it is not all about telling others what to do lol.

Today I have got to get washing done this morning, then coaching in the afternoon before going on duty for semi finals at football tonight, it is the over 35 men tonight which means a lot of old blokes going extra hard at each other and thinking they are young again, A sure recipe for injuries. Hubby is happy I have been rostered on for his game lol, he has been warned he shouldn't play due to not having recovered from injury but he will play anyway.

Is your football Rugby? Sounds like a very busy day Tru! That's funny that your hubby is happy you're coaching the over 35's. I'm sure some of them would be cute......

Football is real football what most Aussies and Americans call soccer, At the football I am not coaching (this year, much lol), I Work as a sports trainer which basically means my job is to prevent injuries in partnership with physiotherapists, Doctors and coaches using proper warmups and injury preventative training, pre and post game massage along with spending a lot of time strapping (Taping) to prevent injury to joints and muscles, and to prevent further damage to existing injuries. During the games my job is to treat injuries on the field or get the player further help if it is a major injury. I have only ever needed to do CPR once on field but broken bones are not uncommon in football.

My training also covers preparing rehab training programs but too many coaches just want to throw their players straight back in to play even when they are not yet fully fit.

A sports Trainer is roughly equivalent of an Athletics Trainer in the US.

I also attend other sports as a trainer including Rugby Union, Martial Arts (assorted), BMX, Touch, Baseball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Triathlon etc.

I have also participated in a wide range of sports myself including: Judo (Shodan, Tore Knee Ligament training for Olympic trials when I was 16) , Broomball (Aus Team), Hockey, Field Hockey, Handball, Netball, Cricket, Rugby Union, Football, Cross Country Running (High school regional Team), Powerlifting (2009 Aus Bench Champ, multiple state titles), Road Cycling, Golf, volleyball, Tennis etc.

I think I am past the point where most men think it is "cute" that I coach, but some men have such fragile ego's lol especially the younger ones when they find out that they are weaker than a middle aged woman :D

Ooh. I think you have misinterpreted my frivolity. I wasn't thinking about them thinking you were cute!! I have read before how well qualified & experienced you are Tru. I'm sorry if that sounded offensive! [emoji15] I wish you had moved to Tassie, instead of Queensland, but the job options here are so limited.
Every state seems to use the word football differently. In Tas it would always be AFL but I know that it's Soccer in most of the world. Both our sons played Soccer at HS.
I assumed(dangerous I know) that Rugby was the most played footy in QLD.
Please forgive me Tru if I have offended you xoC

no offence, I am pretty hard to offend, I think some people these days take offence at such small things, I also usually have a very sick sense of humour.

If I am wrong or being a a dickhead I prefer someone to say so, when you disagree with someone you should be able to say so and provide your reasoning without being worried that they will be offended.

When I was doing my coaching course for the Powerlifting part of the class was dedicated to Dickhead identification lol, you get so many young blokes at gyms who think they are not only strong but think they know everything because they have read an apost on a bodybuilding forum or the latest article from a mens magazine, it is a bit of a skill to teach them without offending them or stomping on their ego's but the worst ones do need putting straight in a not so gentle way.

Terms for different codes change depending on location and era, when I was growing up in rural NSW soccer was "Wog Ball" and AFL was "Aerial Ping Pong" not all terms are PC :)

It was a long night last night, had to wait for 20 minutes for an ambo to get to the the fields after the last game of the night and another 30 minute before I could get packed up, finally made it home at 10:30 last night.

It is never a good night when I have to call in the bus, it was going sooo well till the last minute of the last game, no injuries at all up till that point.

Early start this morning, I usually do the evening shift but at least I get to watch my sons games and hubbys second game of the weekend as a spectator and not worry about the injuries (unless it gets bad and the lvl 1 trainer needs help).

How full is your life? While it sounds very exhausting to me, it also sounds very fulfilling & that must be a bonus. Have a good week-end Tru xoC

This is the panoramic view of fields 1 and 2 taken from my sports medicine shed last night while it was quiet and before it got to dark to take pics with my phone

Heading back in again now, son went over on his ankle in his first game today so I need to go back in to watch hubbys game after dropping son home.

Only one ambo so far today but the men haven't played yet.
