Kureransu's Log.

hey cord. as far as my strength goes, i don't really know. even when i first started 2 years ago as a newbie, i was doing like 225 on squats. But i've only been serious for like these 8 months. The guys at the gym just call me naturally strong, especially my legs. I usually go light for high reps, but every once in a while i'll go heavy. so i guess if i was going fro stregnth, i would be doing more. like the deadlifts, 225 and i've only ever done them a total of 5 times. i'm too scared to try too much heavier. i had to get a spotter for the bench. i'm sure i can bench more than i weight, the highest i ever got once was 295. I can not bring 315 up.

on another note you are an example of what i feel is missing here. i don't care for comments, but questions. people used to always ask how or why i did things and i loved it. lol i'm not trainer but i love sharing my thought process with others. it just seems no one asks, and they aren't enitled too, so that is what i was saying about the diary. i'm glad its motivating for many!

65 min of elliptical and in my hour i put in 7.3 miles for 1015 calories. it ended up being 1081 and 7.55 after the cool down.

somebody shoot me now! lol! yesterday i did 65mins on the elliptical and for the first time ever reached the 500 calorie mark (a month ago at my fittest i was averaging 470 cals so was really proud of myself yesterday for the 500). the two people i know who kill it on the elliptical are you and ymcachick....so figured i should ask how do you do it? do you keep going at the same pace from start to finish or do you start slow then gradually pick up the pace?

the interesting thing is that my distance showed exactly what you have 7.3miles...but if i think logically it basically means that we both went the same distance and in the same time but it means you were going exactly at DOUBLE my speed since you lost double the cals. i usually check my strides per min and i try to keep it at 100strides/min.....does that mean you do it at 200strides/min for the full 65mins? goodness gracious me are you man or machine?

sorry for the rant but i hope you can help me out with the Q's?

i guess it depends on the type of machine. i go at a resistance of 15-16, which makes a huge difference. the strides don't show on my machine just mph, which around 7.3 obviously. and yes i go at full speed from the start, well at least 7.0 at the start and keep it up the whole time. I can go faster if i go shorter, which is how i did 2 miles in 15 min today. i can say that on level one there is about a 350 calories difference. sooo maybe its the level. i don't know do you ahve a pic of the machine you use?

i found the link here to the elliptical they have at our gym:

the one at our gym shows total miles, and then also instead of miles per hour shows the strides per min which is usually what i look at to try and keep it constant.

but i see you do resistance 15-16 wow, i'm still at resistance 6-7 and have gotten there so far by slowly building up from 1.

i guess i'll just hang in there and slowly by slowly keep increasing my resistance and speed as i start to get fitter.

Thursday

so another thursday, another day of hard cardio. another personal best today. 7.56 miles in 60 min., 1030 cals. after cooldown, 65 min, 1100 cals, 7.83 miles. level 15. this was by fa the most challenging time i have ever had on that machine. i pushed myself sooo hard to hit 7.5 today. i was telling a couple of ladies how i think our bodies work when it comes to increase our abilities. i told them think of our bodies seperate from mind. they both have there own agendas, but the both can be persuaded by the other, with the mind being a little more persuasive. when we do a strenuous workout. our body tries to convince our minds that its had enough. and that's when we stop. However. our minds knows that our bodies are a little out of shape and can probably do more. so what i do, is every time my body tells my mind that its had enough, i push a little more. like i told the ladies that when they feel they can't go any longer on the elliptical, do 10 more minutes ( they only do 20 and are wiped). Sure you'll sweat like a dog and be worn beyond belief, but what happens then is your body has an awakening. and then it says, well ifi see that we are doing this for this long now, well i need to adjust to make sure i am comfortable doing that. and that's when your body starts to change. smae with weights, when you lift something heavier than you ever lifted before, your body's like, well i need to make sure that i when i rebuild these muscle i make them a little bit stronger so that its more comfortable to lift. and there's the change. so my advice to all that reads, is that when ever you workout, find someway to push a little more, to force your body out its comfort zone, so that it make changes to do what your mind wants it to be able to do. you'd be surprised how fast it adapts. its absolutely amazing. no plans for working out more tonight. helping a friend put up a fence tonight instead. ok i'm all out of words. talk to you guys soon.

hi kure...i like that analogy about the mind and the body..i think you are right!!

have fun puttin up that fence (its hot out isnt it)

have a great night!!

crazy friday!

hai guys!

well i start off with last night. help my friend put up a fence. afterwards, he and his wife walked their dog while i went and ran for 1.5-2 miles. good times. wasn't really my intent to workout that evening but i did. I ran out of work today so i got the day off. or so i thought. i went to the gym and i was there for like 2 hours! two large circuits, followed by 30 min of HITT on the elliptical. it was hardcore man lol. well after the gym, i called to see what they guys were gonna do for lunch so i could eat with them when i was there getting my check. well they had work for me, so here i am at work for at leawst a half day, which isn't too bad. i have tennis tomorrow and sunday, and maybe i'll run a little. how is everyone doing?

I'm doing good. Really good, actually. I see you are, too.

I have built half of my front yard fence. Am waiting for my days off to finish it.

Just not enough time in the day... sigh.. I wish I had the time to work out as much as you, but then my body would likely collapse and die. But I did hit the pool this morning for 45 minutes, then a 20 minute walk from the pool to the doctor's office and back, so I could weigh myself. I should really try to get some kind of activity in at work tonight, if it gets slow. Dumbbells (although the heaviest I have at home are 25s, which are too light for me now), perhaps, or just pushups and stuff.

cord- 25lbs should be fine. just do higher reps, you'll get a nice burn that way.

SO last night was ok. i bowled a couple games and that was it. Not more besides hanging out w/ friends. I'm hoping for 240-something next monday, but 250 will do fine as well. i guess we'll see. I have a current pic, but its kinda blurry. i debating if i should post ot or not..... i'll gove it a little more thought. i guess if anything i could take another and replace it later on.. what do you guys think?

Looking good Mr. Kotter!!!! (for all of those old enough to remember 'Welcome Back, Kotter')

Nice work dude. Are you amazed at the number of balls on the court you can get to now that you used to not be able to get to?

E.

Dude - you look awesome!

Really, really good job, man. I wish I looked that good. I wish I looked half that good.

And look at the big-ass grin on the second shot! You should be grinning - you deserve it!

And 311 - that's exactly the weight I started at.

I'm curious - how tall are you?

You must be built like a brick shithouse to weigh 256 at 5'8 and look like that. You dont look 256 at all. I would have guessed maybe like 230 tops.

Outstanding job dude

today i managed to do an amazing thing. I did NO phsycial activity today. it was soo hard not to go for a run when the rain stopped, but i gave my body a full day's rest. that's two saturdays in a row! well last week i taught and was dead tired so slept the day away, but still i'm proud that i was able to convince myself to stay in! sounds weird but i swear i am addicted to getting SOME activity in each day. ah well here's to tomorrow tennis in the am!

wow kureransu, looking good! there's a such a big difference in both pics, and i totally agree with cord, the grin says it all! all the best as you go on to your goal weight.

ok here is the pic of me at 311 and me at 256 i think. so its a few pounds of but whateves lol

thanks cheery for the compliment!

ok maybe i am part machine. i played tennis for 3.5 hours today! omg. why is that crazy you ask? its effin 91 degrees today. and very humid. I check the weather channel and it say it feels like 100 with humidity. seriously you aren't safe. Shade does nothing. the moment you step out your front door, sweat ensues. blahhhhhhh. anyway, somehow i managed it for that lon before i just folded, but i drank about 3 liters of water lol. anyway. most likely no more updated until monday, so have a good night everyone.

Monday

Here we are again. another monday. Was lazy this morning so i didn't get to the gym til about 6:30, and finished the workout at a little after 8. did 1 hour of weights, full body. Moderate weight today. mostly reps of 15. did 30 min of cardio. 3.5 miles level 16, 509 cals. weigh in today. 250 lbs! weee so i am at 80 down 50 to go. the last leg! so excited. tomorrow i plan to have my body fat percentage checked out, which i am a tad bit nervous about. I hope i see a low number! Anyway, if the weather can hold out, i'll probably get in two hours of tennis or what not. if not, then i'll just run a mile or two. anyway. hope all is well with everyone. talk to you guys soon.
