keepitoff83's diary!

You are doing well. Dont worry about the weight gain. We all gain due to TOM. You can be the most saintly person in the world - when your body decides that it is time to retain water - the weight just goes up. The main thing is not to get demoralised when you see it happening.

I have been catching up on what you have been doing since I last popped into your diary. I could not do medicine - because I really could not handle giving people bad news like that (re that poor man who should lose his arm). You should congratulate yourself when you have one of those stressful days and you do not turn to food. I think that most of us on the forum could understand if you wanted some sort of food treat after such a bad day.

You are doing really well with your exercise for such a busy girl.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Thanks for stopping by and for the encouragement! Yeah, I try not to get upset when my weight goes up but I think it's been up for a couple weeks now and just doesn't want to go back down! I haven't weighed myself in a couple days and decided I would only weigh myself for the challenge this week so not to discourage myself! I'm hoping since I'm running around a ton on this new surgery rotation + working out + eating well I SHOULD get closer to my previous low! We will see :)

India: Getting in a workout no matter what is always a huge accomplishment for me! Makes me very happy even if it's just 20 minutes!!!!! I always tell myself that something is better than nothing!!!!!!!! Thanks for visiting :)

Eldaweesda: Thanks for stopping by! I see that you are doing well too! We blue teamers are going to kick some butt! Exercise is definitely a great way to relieve stress.....I always feel so much more peaceful and positive after a workout!

Sweetpea: Thanks for the compliment :). I figured it's always nice to put a face to a name!!!!!! I saw that you made some spring rolls....that sounds yummy, I might do the same if I get some time after work tomorrow :)

Amber: Thanks for all the encouragement! Haha I don't mind the cabbage as much as most people would.....it's actually quite good and forcing me to get more servings of veggies in b/c I think I'll end up eating more than the required 5 cups!

So today was another long day! Got home from work around 5pm and went straight out to study. Had a mediterranean veggie sandwich from Panera without the feta cheese and on whole wheat.....I don't think that sandwich is too bad for me! Plus I barely ate all day (stupid surgery)! I managed to squeeze in a workout for an hour just now even though I would have liked to do more. I have a quiz tomorrow, so my priority was with the books :). No worries, I will have all my exercise done for the challenge......as well as the cabbage of course :)

Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man! I LOVE Panera Meditteranean veggie sandwiches! I think they put cocaine in them, they're so addictive. See the first few pages of my diary, and I mention it there...lol. But the feta is too yummy to forgoe. :drool5:

So what field of med would give you an easy lifestyle? Like a GP? You into golfing on Wednesdays? :D

I'm sure your weight will go back down. Just stay consistant with your eating and exercise.

I also love your avi--you're gorgeous! What is your first name, btw? I've been calling you KIO b/c I'm too lazy to type out your forum id...lmao.

Hey Kimberly.....those sandwiches are the best. I'm convinced it's that hummus. I got them to sell me a tub of that stuff for 2 dollars :). I make some of my wraps with it and they are just as delicious! If I wanted a GREAT lifestyle, I would go into a field where there's no patient interaction, like radiology. But I love patients and people! So pretty much when I'm done with med school for a few years I will have a crappy lifestyle. AFter a few years, you kind of choose your own hours....I guess surgery is the worst, which I likely will not go into even though it's pretty cool.....I saw a lady who had both her breasts removed today for cancer. Pretty bold and she was so good and okay with it!

Thanks for the compliment! I guess it's time I reveal my name..........haha.....PRITI. It's a very tough one. See if you can guess how to pronounce it :). Then I'll tell you! haha!

So, I put my pedometer on today and I walked 10,054 steps as of 5pm.....which is good considering it didn't count the 5 hours I was just STANDING there during the surgery! I am thinking I may actually count it even though I said I wouldn't b/c I am just so beat when I get home b/c I am just on my feet for several hours during the day......I am not sure how I would do that. We'll see! Off to eat!!!!!!!

I suspect that your name is pronounced as we pronounce the word "pretty".

Well done for getting in your 10K steps.

Haha that's what everyone always thinks b/c they don't know what else to make of it.

It's spelled as if the t is a th
and the i's sound like e's

so PREETHI is how you would pronounce it but I spell it Priti. There are a lot of Indian girls with the same name that spell it Preethi or Preeti. I am just DIFFERENT :)

I agree, it's a very pretty name.

Great job on getting to the gym even though you were exhausted. That's the great thing about these challenges, they really push you. If it weren't for the challenge I bet it would have been very easy for you to just stay home after work and relax rather then go to the gym. You deserve a huge pat on the back.

I did the Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD yesterday. I thought it was really good. A really intense cardio workout. It set up in 3 levels, each level supposedly increasing in intensity. The first level is a 20 minute segment w/ Bob incorporating hand weights into your cardio workout. The second level is with Jillian, a very fast paced 10 minute segment. And finally a 10 minute kickboxing segment with Kim. I have to say I thought Bob's and Jillian's segments were more intense then Kim's level 3 segment. There is also a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute yoga cooldown segment with Bob. So if you do the whole tape, start to finish you get a 50 minute workout in. The 50 minutes seem to fly by because it is broken up into short segments. I thought overall it was a very good workout.

Aha! I thought you looked Indian. :D So I can call you my pretty Priti..lol Do your parents live near you? I'm wondering if you mom is a good Indian cook..lol. I adore Indian food. H and I had it for our anniversary. :drool5:

Isn't that Panera paste a pesto? I'm pretty sure it is. I might have to make them sell me some of it, too. It is to die for. :drool5: And I am quite certain there is cocaine in it. :smilielol5:

Sure you're not up for surgery? I'm picturing you being like cute little Neela on ER--with all the other surgeons chasing after her. ;)

Good luck with the weigh-in tomorrow. :)

India: Thanks!!!! Haha funny b/c I love your name too :).

V: Thanks for the compliment :)
I love how you are updating me with all the BL videos. So did you think the cardio max was better than the 2nd one? I think I actually have both of them, but have only touched the 1st one b/c I heard it was harder than the second! I love these challenges so much. You're right, I most definitely would NOT have worked out pretty much any days this week b/c I have been so utterly exhausted. I was thinking I would count my pedometer steps since I walked quite a bit without realizing it, but I figured there was no way to do it, so I ended up pushing myself to go to the gym! I just got home from work but I had two hours between surgeries so I went to my local gym, showered, and scrubbed in with 15 minutes to spare....so I should have all the minutes I need! Let me know if I'm off because I still have a few hours to correct that haha!!!!! I may go down to my gym and lift a little for 15 minutes as I only did cardio this afternoon (and just to be on the safe side!!!!). Thanks for visiting :)

BB: Actually, I asked them at Panera what the "green stuff" was b/c I didn't think it was pesto but I usually think that with anything green :). They told me it was a cilantro hummus.....I'm with you on the cocaine part, there's definitely something VERY addictive in there! I still haven't gotten sick of it even though I have it at home with me!!!! Thanks so much for the compliments!!!!!! You are sooooo sweet! Surgery is super fun, but the hours are sooooooooo long I just don't think I could do it. I do like that they are the doctors that truly "FIX" you whereas the others just make you better! I possibly may do a subspecialty of surgery where there's a LITTLE surgery but also other stuff :). I weighed in this morning before work and I was at 123 lbs, down from my last weigh in but still on the high side from where I was a couple weeks ago.....oh well I guess I should just come to terms with it :). Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow as well! Hope you were able to shed some pounds!!!!!!!

Well I haven't eaten hummus in an age, but after that discussion I am putting it on my shopping list for sure!!

I reckon all those steps you get in are making a good difference with both your health and your calories, but to deal with all the tension that must inevitably come with the emotional aspects of your work - you really need that workout type exercise! It would be so easy to skip it with all else you're fitting in though. Congratulations on the effort!

Good luck with your weigh in!

Go Blue team!!

Ahh..cilantro hummus...I love them both, so that is understandable. :D

I will post a loss tomorrow--not worried about that..lol I wish you good luck, too--not that you need it.

So do you mean something like an OB/GYN? That would be cool. There seems to be a shortage of female OB/GYNs. Personally, I won't go to a male one. :D
I find surgery to be amazing. I don't know how they do it, really. It's so intricate.

Hey girl...i havent stop in in a while..i hope that your doing well :)

Ohh by the way your name is beautiful!!!

India: Thanks!!!! Haha funny b/c I love your name too :).

Hi, I'm glad to hear your down to 123lb. Keep doing what your doing even though you sound exhausted :angelsad2: Keep it up for the team
GO BLUE!!!!!

Thanks for visiting Amber and Eldaweesda!

So I've been pretty bad about updating my diary on a daily basis and logging my food into fitday like I had been trying to. I am running around a lot most of the day and not getting home until late so that's usually the last thing I want to do :). Today I went to work at 6am and got off at 9am.........wayyyyyy better than I expected. I then went to my school gym only to see that it was closed due to spring break which makes me mad for several reasons 1. I couldn't work out there!!!!!! 2. Everyone is on spring break and we don't get one :(! Oh well!

I guess I will go to my own gym even though I'm having issues w/ the elliptical! I need to start finding some more easy and healthy vegetarian recipes as I'm finding I need some variety in my diet. Anyone know of any good, easy, and healthy recipes? :)

Just did 45 min on the elliptical and 30 minutes of strength training! Off to a good start today (wish my food was better though!)

Hi Priti!
I don't get a spring break so that's two of us stuck at home while everybody else seem to be on holiday!

Congrats for getting some exercise in even if the school gym was closed. Keep moving is soooo important!

Have a nice sunday!

India
