Great workout! Ahh everyone on here talks about HIIT. I really need to try it. Just reading what you did made me tired lol

Awesome job with the healthy eating as well. Eh, don't really view the steak as a splurge. You deserved it. We all deserve yummy food for our hard work :)

And holy crap you drink a lot of water. Here I thought I was drinking a lot with 64oz lol

HIIT is GREAT!! It takes less time, and I feel like I'm way more intense for the whole routine. I still do steady state cardio, but usually in the form of long hikes with my kiddos, or the occasional bike ride.

Water is my friend!! :D It fills me up, tastes great, and I can have plenty of it!!
 
That's what I thought. I have heard that the rule of thumb is one g of protein for each pound of lean body mass. So if you have 155 pounds of lean body mass you should be eating somewhere around 155 g of protein. I know that sounds like a shit load. You might want to check with someone on this (perhaps Steve) just to verify. I've been eating three eggs a day (egg whites are like pure protein no fat), plus high protein cereal to get my proteins up. Tuna is real good for that, too.

I think I'll ask Steve. :leaving: I heard something like that as well, but thought it seemed like alot.
 
benching 250 thats awesome! Work on those abdominal muscles once you get down to 200 and that would be a hell of a slapshot!!!

Thanks! My slap shot was never an issue! At some of the tryouts I attended, we were lucky enough to have our shots clocked on radar... I always was between 84 and 92 MPH!!! Most guys where.... which leads me to that whole "GOALIES ARE NUCKIN' FUTS" thing!!! Strange, strange people!! :D :D
 
Great job with the workouts JZ! Sounds like you're really gettin a good one in. I have to say that I agree with Trops on the protein, 1g per lean lb of bodyweight is what I've always understood. I usually shoot for about 175-200g a day. Double scoop my shakes so they each run about 65 w/ lowfat milk mixed in. Of course I've eaten more boneless skinless chicken breasts than I care to remember.

WOW!! Trops and Big Mac where right!! Steve suggests for me to have between 180 and 200 grams of protein a day!!!

Please throw out ideas on how to do this and stay around 2400- 2800 calories a day!!!

Egg whites, FF greek yogurt, Kashi Go Lean cereal, chicken breast, black beans, skim milk, protein powder, tuna. It is a lot to get in. I figure that if I really try to get it all, and come close I'm doing well. I was staying away from egg yolks, but now that I'm closer to goal I don't mind the fat as much and the yolks have a lot of protein.
 
There is a kind of skim milk where they add milk solids to skim milk. It increases the protein and calcium without adding any fat. I don't know if they have different brands where you are, but here it's called Skim Plus, or Skinny Cow. 11g per 8 oz. and 110 cal.
 
One cup of Go Lean with one cup of Skim Plus has 250 calories, 1g of fat, 10g of fiber and 24g of protein. I will have two of those a day, sometimes three. That gets your numbers up.

I couldn't even come close without my whey shakes. With 2 scoops my brand gives me 240cal 46g protein 6g carbs and only 3g fat. There are so many out there, just read the labels. I always shoot for REALLY low sugar and carbs. Oh, I also like the ones that taste good. :D I usually mix mine with milk too, tastes like chocolate milk and it adds in some more protein.

So two shakes a day would give you roughly half of your daily protein, within about 500 calories. That still leaves ya what... 1900-2300 for your other meals?

Edit: Sometimes if I feel like a treat I'll mix my whey in some yogurt. I've heard of people doing it with cottage cheese but that stuff makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. In yogurt I think it tastes kinda like chocolate pudding. :D Makes for a healthy dessert.

I think I'm under eating!!! I normally eat between 2400 -2800 cals per day!?!? I'm Big, but like 5'11, not 6'7!! I need to research a little! :svengo:
 
you're not one of those guys that does the slap shot thing on the glass when the figure skaters walk by are ya ;-) hehehehe...really some bratty kids like to do that

we have also had older kids "Flash" us from the locker room...i couldnt believe it.....one kid mooned my dtr when she was 17 and she worked at the rink.

i have been drinking a protien drink in the morning...i dont know the brand..it may be Metrx....

Friday - WOKE up too late for my AM workout!!! Can you believe that crap!!! :eek: (That may, or may not have led to the testosterone leakage elswhere on the forum ;) :D )

I ate clean and plentiful!! Then, after I tucked my munchkins in the sack, I got in an AMAZING lower body workout!! Deads, squats, hack squats, traveling lunges, followed by "jump ups"!!! I'm going to rate this one a 10!!! I will also, perform the jump ups FIRST from now on. I'm just to unpredictable at the end of the lifting!!! No injuries... just my EGO!!! I ended up stratling the bench holding 35 pund dumbbells in each hand!!! Not the "correct" finish position!!!

Saturday - Good eating so far... one meal left... you guessed it..... CHICKEN BREASTS and MOFO Broccoli!!!! Today, my EX has the kids for 8 hours, but she actually asked to have them over night :eek2: I said yes, because I want her involved more than one week day night and 1.5 hours every morning!!! I did use the day today, after my sons soccer game of course, to get in the final bike ride for the year (BURRRRRR)!! 28 miles, at average speed of 15 to 16 mph!! Windy as HELL out today, so it was a killer workout!! Now, the challenge... going out with my buds, and not havin too many drinks!!! I am so out of the game so to speak, I really feel out of place now! In a good way of course!! I normally do the kids routines (dinner, bath, jammies, book, bed) then read or play some guitar, or watch discover.... I just feel out of place without the routine I guess. I have been out like twice in the past 6 months... OUT OF IT!!!! Well, off to put on my club/bar clothes... at least they fit better now!!! :D

That sucks about your wife, but it sounds like you're doing a great job of getting your life in a good place. How old are your kids?

What is your current weight? Sounds like you're having good success. :)
 
My kiddos are 6 3/4, 5, and 3 3/4 years old!

My current weight(well actually on monday) is 256.5. :( I really let myself slide in order to do everything for everyone else! I'm here to change that, and to make my kids lives, and MYSELF happy!! I have a great start... this forum has helped sooooo much!!! Really great people on here!! I started my new LIFESTYLE "officially" on September 22nd of this year. :)

Great to hear about that huge bike ride. Good for you getting out in this cold!

Also, that lower body workout sounds awesome. You must be so proud of yourself! I can't imagine working out after tucking kids into bed, I'd just want to fall asleep!!

Thanks, I do feel good!! I just do what I need for me to be successful. Usually, I wake up at 400am to squeeze in my workouts while they are sleeping. I was just too tired on Friday. I am glad I got it in, but I won't be doing PM workouts again i hope... I was AMPED up for hours!!! I wanted to sleep, but couldn't! :D
