Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

Hey lady...wow you are doing fantastic on the juice fast. I know exactly what you mean about getting sick of the taste of juice. When I did three days a few weeks ago...I felt the same way. I actually admittedly have not juiced since then. In a way it is sort of sad for me because I used to enjoy the juice so much! I hope my craving for it returns.

Your discipline is inspiring, and I hope that you see that! I seriously can't get over that. One day I hope to get there and seeing someone else do it is amazing to see :)

Hi Justina, first time posting in your diary. I have to say I really admire the discipline you guys who choose to juice have. I know I wouldn't be able to do it so I'm not even going there. Kudos to you! Sounds like your hubby is really supportive too which is a huge plus for you! :)

Camila - I am sorry that you hate juice now - for me - my hatred for juice lasts about a week! :) Maybe you should try it sometime - your fave combo or something!

Last day of juicing. Thinking of food at this point is both pleasurable and torture.
Down to 240.4 lbs - hopefully tomorrow it will be in the 230s which was my goal.
I have made it through!!!!!!!!

Lessons I learned during my 8 day juice fast (and my previous 5 day one):
- I won't do 8 days of juicing ever again! - tops 6 days - that is my limit
- I must give a time frame up front for juicing - it makes it psychologically easier to complete.
- I must distinguish between hunger and cravings
- Since juicing is also a detox it is important to drink lots of water so the toxins can leave the body
- I must do some form of light exercise during the juicing. Again, this helps removing the toxins as well as aids weight loss
- It is a great way to lose weight - in order to keep it down one must reintroduce food groups gradually after the completion of the fast

My plan is to do a short 2-3 day juicing:
- sometime end of this month again
- sometime in June

Bring on solid food tomorrow!!! :hurray:
 
Welcome back to the world of food eaters! Awesome loss too! My juicing has fallen way off. I get lazy and don't want to do the prep and clean up. I still really enjoy it and I'll try to do better.
 
Well you are just too awesome. Isn't it strange how we have to keep re-learning the difference between cravings and hunger? Seems so simple at first...I know we both experience that kind of Eureka! moment when we juice fasted...but I keep catching myself lately...have to go back and re-process that moment.

I hope coming off of the cleanse goes well for you. I almost thing that reintroducing food is just as if not more difficult than the cleanse itself. It can be so tempting to just say "Yay! I have not eaten solid food in X days...I deserve a treat!" But we all know that eating badly after a fast can wreak havoc on the body. So my well wishes go to you in the next week readjusting to food!
 
Yay! Congrats on reaching your 8 day goal! Again, I admire the discipline you've shown. Enjoy eating some solid food today. :)
 
Quercus - I totally understand - washing the juicer is a b*tch! I am ok to do the prep & the juicing - and my husband - bless his heart does the cleaning. I don't think I will have juice for a week though!!

SO this is second day after completing my juice fast! & I am loving my solid food!!

I weighed in today @ 239. 4 which is 0.4 down from yesterday. :hurray: Considering I had solid food yesterday it's brilliant.

Yesterday I had berries for breakfast, vegetable soup & roasted vegetables for lunch & soup + strawberries for dinner. I also did an hour in the gym (elliptical)

Today I am introducing back quinoa. I have made tabboulah - huge portion - I love this - I am so lucky it's healty! hehe
(I made it with curly parsley, mint, onion, tomato, quinoa & olive oil-lemon juice for dressing) I ll have this for lunch & dinner. There is plenty.

I am also planning to go to the gym. Cardio only. I am starting with the weights tomorrow (I will have garbanzos tomorrow : protein!)
 
Sounds like you're enjoying your solid food life once again. Which is good. Glad your weight dropped some more too. That has to be encouraging! I hope you enjoy your gym session tonight. :)
 
Great job, Justina! You know those juice fasts scare me, but you sound like have it dialed in really well! Hey when we get together and have a potluck someday, bring the tabbouleh, ok? :) I love that stuff, but never make it.

I usually don't update in the evening but I had to share something. I went out shopping and I tried on a pair of size 14 jeans. They looked awesome on me...with one tiny detail...I couldn't button them up. So what did I do? I bought them!!! I am hanging them on my closet for motivation and inspiration! Not that I don't already get a lot from you guys!! :grouphug:
I would love to wear them this summer!!

I also took my measurements. I am about to start working with weights/ doing tons of body sculpting exercises - so I am fully expecting the weight-loss to halt for a bit - or at least slow down. So scale won't be showing results.

I have done the same thing, buying clothes (specially t-shirts) that actually are to small to fit into. It's such a good feeling when they do fit, to me feels like being a kind again and having just opened your christmas presents. Happy times!

Pretty sure you gonna rock those jeans this summer!

AWESOME workout today in the gym. 2.5 hours: 70 min elliptical, 30 min weights room, 50 min bike

Food:
B: Berries, peach
L: Chichpeas & aubergine (Garbanzos + eggplant) with onion, cilantro in a home-made Moroccan dressing
S: Raspberries
D: Roasted eggplant with greens
This is my third day eating solids after my juice fast. All is going well. I am still 239.4.

I am so very excited about the Greek Food Festival this weekend - I have to spend the afternoon in the gym though! & It's worth it!!!!
