Juliette cross-training for Romèo

yay for your positive attitude :)

Yay for the challenges you came up with! They enhance my motivation!!! According to my calculations I've managed to move my feet about 82 miles so far in April. I never, even in my wildest dreams thought that possible. Or at least I'd be dead after having done that. And look here: vividly alive, kicking and screaming! :D
Julie

Holy Crap!!! 82 miles? i think yuo're kicking M2M's behind :) that's really impressive.... You did it yourself.... :) be veryproud of yourself, missy. :D

I was on a two day work trip once again, so that's the best I could do. I'm going for c. 1700 cals, 147 prot, 73 fat, 25-35 fibre and 100-200 carbs according to the amount of exercise.
And here is proof that I managed to jolt something in my body with last weeks' exercising:
Weight 66,9 kg (147.4 lbs)
Body fat 27,7%
Body water 52,7%
Muscle mass 33,8%
The bloatedness is mostly gone now and I've lost a centimetre or two from my waist and hips as well. I think this time's whining session over "I'm not losing any weight" is now officially over. :D

Haha,

I just began reading your diary and found the same sleeping problems I was talking about in your second post!

I'm really enjoying reading your diary...I'm still on Page 2 and there's so much you've written that I see in myself! Now that you're 10 pages in I feel weird commenting on stuff that happened 8 pages ago! On with my reading though..

Wow - your diary makes very inspiring reading.. Although I've got a fair way to go in achieving my weight loss goals I find I've come to many of the same conclusions as you did, particularly in terms of taking control of my life and just DOING what needs to be done. As you said, no one can take care of you - you need to do so yourself.

I look forward to the time when I've lost the excess weight, and can set new goals for myself, such as running the London Marathon, or (better still) walking to the Santiago di Compostela...maybe even climbing Mt Kilimanjaro (I climbed the Mt Baumann in Togo when I was 17 while working towards the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award - how I wish I'd kept up with my fitness!)

Keep up the good work - you certainly are very inspired (and inspiring)

Had a weird work day yesterday. A colleague fell ill and I substituted and played in the orchestra of Cats. I've heard the popular parts of the musical sometimes, like everyone, but the rest of it was by no means familiar to me. I guess I can call that the new thing of the day. Geeeeeez, 3 hours of solid adrenalin.
Must've affected my metabolism, since the scales today said 64,4 kgs (146.3 lbs). :D Let's hope that number reappears every morning from now on...
Slept late today, I'm hoping to get rid of the stress of yesterday. Some exercise, still a bit of house-cleaning and working planned.
Thanks RhoRho for your comments, I'm glad you found my diary good reading. Why not take a sports goal for yourself side by side with your weight-loss goal? Seems to be working for me. It doesn't have to be a gigantic one, just walking let's say 15 miles in a week could do? Then you could work your way up to the 400+ miles of Santiago de Compostela. ;)
Sun is shining from clear sky, makes up for wind and chill out there.
I'm wishing a great day for everybody!

Matches my mood all right! Seems the wandering around is really doing the trick, both weight and inch loss! :D
I play the oboe.
Hugs for you, Soph!

Did I hear someone is kicking my butt walking??

:D

Well, my friend, I'm certainly doing my best here. Not able to match your walking speed, I need to run for that!

My mom has me trained that way, she used to take me for walks starting from when I learned to walk at 10 months old. Haven't forgotten the skill since.. :p Thanks for visiting, Cerella!

Well, my friend, I'm certainly doing my best here.

I LOVE hearing that :)

I was walking about 38-40 miles a week, but seriously cut down when I started strength training - I miss that much alone time though!

Stats from Thursday:
Calories exercised
Nordic-walking 52 min 347 cal
Walking 22 min 121 cal
Eaten
cals 1790
prot 126
carb 136
fat 55
fibre 28
And a lot of those calories from red wine. But boy, did the world become a better place yesterday evening... ;) Had a quality evening with my best girl-friend.
The weather here is really varying. Yesterday we got shine, rain, almost snow, wind, you name it, we got it. Today forecast is much the same. Right now the sun is shining, there's just no telling for how long.
Today I need to do some finishing touches to my apartment and then I'm ready for the weekend. Have a work thing on Sunday, so that'll take some preparing. My friends, who we're supposed to visit this weekend have half cancelled, they'll only briefly visit on Sunday. They have a family thing, nothing to complain there, these things come when they come. Got my flat in some kind of a shape though, happy for that.
My scale is very friendly towards me this week. I decided to update my ticker, since I'm getting these low numbers for third day in a row. :D I have also now officially reached the middle of my weight-loss goal. I'm 6,5 kgs down, 6,5 to go. I'm thinking, it's not going to get any easier, probably the other way around. But I do think I'm not going to give up any time soon. I've gotten this far, why not go all the way. ;)
M2M, I'll have to do a little better still, my best week this far was about 36 miles. And there's the 25 mile walk waiting for me in the end of May...

Nice mileage today, missy :) youo are a mileage rockstar :)

How are you liking nordic walking? i've heard it's pretty tough to do... a

Nordic walking comes very naturally to me. Which might have something to do with the fact that I was put on cross-country skis the moment I learned to walk. :) No funny looks there, that's the style in this part of the world. So nordic walking is just that, except without skis. ;)
I don't think it's difficult to learn even if you're never been on skis in your life. If somebody says it's tough, I'd say, try it first! It's supposed to enhance the intensity of walking to jogging level. But since there's no bouncing, it's light to joints and gives you a more balanced workout bringing the hands to the equation. I do it very regularly because I do a lot of stationary work with my hand&shoulder muscles when I'm playing and I need to balance it with some movement..
I can warmly recommend nordic walking for everybody. It suits all shapes&sizes and actually, Mal, doing that on your way home from work you might find the eccentricity you've been yearning lately. :p

oooh good point :)

As much as I loved downhill skiiing, and if my knee wasn't so messed up i'd stil be skiiing.. I never quite mastered cross country - snow shoeing was easier and more fun.. cross country skiing was a serious workout.

Are there specific poles that you use? or just ski poles? I've seen some that just seem heavy... and swinging your arms would really give you a good workout :)

that's a whole of walkin', woman!! WOW!

thanks for stopping by and showing me some support! i really appreciate it!!! :D

Today, 5,8 km running, 4,5 walking. Makes 10,3 km = 6.4 miles. And it was raining small to medium cats, dogs, and I think I saw some small rodents making them company. I'm patting myself on the back here, I can tell you...
And support is what we're here for! :D
