Juliette cross-training for Romèo

That'll tell you all you need to know about poles, walking itself etc.etc. I'm also hoping it might give you info about where you can get the poles. Obviously every sport equipment store here sells them, but I have no idea about the rest of the world. The walking poles have different kind of handles from ski poles and different pads&tips for asphalt, gravel etc. Here they cost about 50 euros, that's 65-70 US dollars, but you never need to buy a new pair, only new pads every now and then.

Wooohoooo, Sophie, that's news! It's not really often that I meet people, who have played the oboe.. It's one of the most uncommon instruments around here. I've played 20 years (OMG that makes me sound ancient). But then again, I'm supposed to keep on playing for the next 32 years, since I do this for living...
We have a lot of music institutes around here where you can play whatever suits you best for a reasonable amount of money, usually about 600 euros/year (£400), including about 35 60 minute one-to-one instrument lessons, music theory classes, orchestras etc. I find it's a good system just because it gives most children the opportunity to play if they want.
But you keep on playing the piano, that's good! :D

Yesterdays run was long but not fast. 5,8 km took me 35 minutes, which is just under 10 km/h. I felt lacking in strength, like I've felt a couple of days now. I can do things, it's just that I don't have any sharpness in my actions. I'm wondering about my recent carb intake, I'm going to up that a bit for a few days and see what that does. I don't really like this kind of soft, round, can't do anything quick -feeling.
Rainy day here, so fortunately I need to go shopping and do other indoors stuff..

awesome walking there. you're really doing great. and maybe you should increase carbs or it could be the spring thing and changes in the weather.

hugs,

Ohhh...shopping is always fun :)
(well, not always, I hate it - but SOMETIMES it's fun!)

How have you been sleeping lately, are you getting enough?

Decided to try how it feels to eat the amount my body should use in a day. Interesting... I was so stuffed, I can't remember when I last felt like that. And totally without any guilt attached to the full feeling. There was nothing you could call junk in my yesterdays nutrition. Fruit, veg, turkey breast, whole grain rice, rye.. :)

Thanks gals for visiting! :D

It might be the weather, today was a sunny day, and I was feeling better. And you're right, everybody seems to be a bit tired this time of year.
Thanks for the sunshine! ;)

I've basically been sleeping really well, but there's this weird bird harassing me every morning from 5 o'clock on. It must be a nightingale or something, it has a really wide repertoire, nothing like tweet-tweet, I tell you. Think an Irish tin whistle in really capable hands. It probably sits on the nearest branch of the nearest tree from my window, it's beak carefully directed at me, since keeping window closed doesn't really help. Any ideas on how I could get the bird to change scenery?
I'm going away for three days tomorrow, so I hope it doesn't see me leaving and won't follow me. :p
I got a really nice run this evening after my work thing (which got me so angry, that there was really nothing else to do than to go running). There will be no stats for today, since I had to eat out (weird food) because of the work event and don't want to guesstimate. I won't be counting anything for the next three days out of town either and on Thursday I'll see, if I continue or not.
I don't think I'll be here much before Wednesday evening, but I'm thinking of you all! :)

You'll be missed!

As for the bird - can you put a helium balloon up in the tree that he normally sings in?

what does helium balloon do?
i so know what you mean, i have birds in front of my window every morning, i guess its their coffee time at 5am. i'm always laughing cause i imagine them gossiping and spreading all the latest news haha. there are days when they bother me, but no so much lately.
you have fun away and i hope there are no birds going after you :D:D
hugs,
Lena

I'm finally back!
Stressful four days.. Work, parents, work, work... Practically no exercise, I'm starting to feel really aggressive.
From this moment I'm free though, so I can see light in the end of the tunnel. :)
I've missed you all!

Hey Juliette,

Welcome back from your trip. I've been away too (on account of being ill though)... I'm really keen to get back to my workouts too... I'll be doing an intense cardio class tomorrow... can't wait...

Is the bird gone away yet?

Hi there again!

Hey, thanks for stopping by my diary again. It's good to feel connected...and to somebody so far away!! Isn't technology great?

You are sure getting a lot of victory on your healthy eating! Way to Go!!

Right now my walking consists of walking around 2 blocks (hardly a 5 minute walk) with my dad, doing the "seniors' shuffle". I'm trying to encourage him to keep a little of his health, too! It's a life-long project, for sure.

Have a great week!
Cheryl

Hello!
I've been everywhere but here lately, but I'm trying to return here.. We'll see how that works out. It's tax return time here, so I'll be doing mine the rest of the week probably. A lengthy but hopefully financially rewarding process.
I've been maintaining the weight I reached before disappearing to the work jungle, but no progress. I'd be ready for some now though. :)
Thanks for reading, ladies, I'm really looking forward to being here a bit more!
Juliette

heyyy
well done for finding maintenance :)
good luck with further weight loss - you can do it
looking forward to seeing you on here more often again! xx

Good For You!!

Hi!
When life is so busy, it's amazingly great to maintain your weight loss! Be Proud!!:D
I hope you have a happy healthy week!
:)

Hey, everybody!
I'm here again. No idea for how long, but NOW I'm here.
I weighed myself this morning for the first time in two weeks. After some weird hormonal things and not being able to fully choose what and when I eat I've gained 1,2 kgs (2,6 lbs) from my so far lowest weight and I'm now 67,7 kgs (149,1 lbs). I'm hoping some of that is excess water, but the one thing I'm sure about is that I want to get rid of it, whatever it is.
There have been some bad dissappointments workwise and then just a lot of crazy work days in the past two weeks. But I'm almost done for this spring, so only about two weeks left before the holiday season.
My 25 mile walk is getting closer, a week and a half to go now. I'm really excited about that and I've gotten some exercise in between all the work as well. From 4th to 10th May I gathered 25 miles and 11th-13th 16 miles of walking. My mother kept me company those 16 miles, she's one tough lady, 67 years of age.
What's going on with the smilies? I see a really weird collection of them there on the right of the reply field??? :eh: (<- Canada???)
Juliette

hey Juli :) nice to see you back hehe...for as long as it is :D i missed you.
you're doing great with your walking. that kilo extra will go off soon enough. i think what it takes is getting back to the routine you created. and you're doing that, so don't worry :)
as for that canada flag thing, i don't know hehehe i thought it was really funny when i saw that.
hugs to you
Lena

Just got back from a 8 km run (+1 km walking as warm-up). I feel good (for a change), and there's nothing more to do today than grocery-shopping and just one itzy bitzy work-thingy that is quite fun actually.
Most of my tomato-plants have survived my long absence and one of my last summers strawberries actually lived through this extremely unusual fall&winter.
Tomorrow is holiday (Ascension Day) and even the rest of the week looks kinda relaxing. Next Mon&Tue are going to be baaaaad work days, but after that it actually looks like nothing much before August!
So I guess getting back to my routine is just up to me this time! And it looks good so far! Thanks for you support, Lena, it's greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to hanging out here...
:beating:
