Journey, Not A Destination

hello again...
guess what. I am here to ask you stuff. woot woot

Ok, so I was trying to find the post in my diary where you told me where all of my calories should be coming from (i.e. fat, carbs, and protein).

Can't find it! It would take me like an hour to find it. Do you mind telling me again? Pretty please?

Geez oh man Britta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:p

Just teasing.

Your calories should come from.......

FOOD.

Oh, in that case.........

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh, much better. :)

Who do I look like?

In seriousness, I wouldn't be too concerned about where your cals are coming from.... worry more about keeping the cals in check. When things start heading in the right direction, you can start emphasizing and concerning yourself with proper macro splits.

Do you know how many calories you are shooting for? How do you plan on tracking it?

If you could do it perfectly, I'd say 1 gm of protein per lb of lbm. .25 gm of fat coming primarly from the good stuff. And the rest can be whatever the heck you want, lol. That's what I do. When I'm bulking I add more carbs and when I'm cutting, I add more fat.

Let me see if I can find a post that says it in more detail as I've posted details numerous times on here....

Screw it. I can't find it.

Let me just go into detail here.

Thermodynamics always trumps all else and this is why calories need to be your primary concern. Once energy balance (food intake vs. energy expenditure) is negative, you're dropping body mass.

Past this protein needs can vary from 1-1.5g/lbm. If you don't know your lbm, take a guess. Or PM your stats and I'll give you a ballpark.

Carbs are dependent upon the individual and goals. If you're concerned with performance or if you tolerate carbs well, they should/can be higher. Many do well when they trend towards the low side though.

Fats are similar to carbs, often used as "ballast" to make up the calorie/energy intake on lowered carb intakes. Fats are the only macro where quality really makes an objective difference, physiologically. Quality fats in the form of monounsaturateds and polyunsaturateds tend to be "better". The essential fats are the only other truly required macro alongside adequate protein intake.

So long as those two factors are in place, in the context of a negative energy balance (calories from food < calorie expenditure from metabolic function and activity), the rest is unimportant from a physiological standpoint. This isn't to say there's no reason ever to keep things "clean", but I think far too many people end up spinning their wheels about the 'cleanliness' of their foods when if they simply worried about calories, protein, and essential fats they'd be in great shape.

Good evening, Shithead.

Just thought I'd drop a few terms of endearment in Sheryl's absence. I'm sure you're in need of some. :biggrinjester:

I love reading your diary. It's full of helpful advice interspersed between pervy posts. :D

Thanks for stopping in you gay homo.

I'm glad you stop by... however, I've rarely been dropping my 'nuggets of knowledge' in here anymore. I should start that again though.... I need more thread views!

Thanks for stopping in you gay homo.

I'm glad you stop by...

Of course you are--being a gay homo yourself. I know you have fantasies about me dressed as the police officer from the Village People (complete with mousetache) assaulting you with my deadly weapon.

When I fantasize about you Kimberly, there are no mousetaches involved ever.
