Hiya Steve!

Well you were right.....as usual. Too much heavy lifting got me tired and worn out. I backed the fuck off and am now doing resistance training--pretty weird, huh? It's cool, though, I'm going to slowly add weight and do cycles instead of pushing myself as hard as I can all the time. Anyway, hope your bulk is going well! :)
 
Hi. My name's Sheryl. I eat only 500 calories a day, I don't weight train or do cardio, but I am losing weight. I also do 5000 situps a day and have lost 20" on my waist alone. Yes, "spot reduction" really does work. I just wanted to drop in to say "Yes.. anyone can eat a healthy 500 calories/ no exercise program and still look as beautiful as me." Thank you.

Not weird to me.

As you get closer to your genetic limits in terms of strength, you no longer are capable of pushing your body to the limits day in and day out. Reason being: You are providing a magnitude of stress that takes more time to recover from than is alotted between workouts.

This is why the whole cycle mentality exists for beyond-novice lifters and athletes.

For instance, a cycle for me might look something like this with the basic 5x5 program:

Week 1: 75% Intensity
Week 2: 85% Intensity
Week 3: 95% Intensity
Week 4: 105% Intensity

Where you go beyond this depends on your genetics, recoverability, etc. I can usually squeeze out another week or two. Oh, and intensity in this case (most cases actually when discussing work with relation to moving weigth = percentage of your 1 rep max. In some cases it can also mean percentage of a specific rep max..... say 5 rep max.

If I felt really good, week 5 might consist of 110% still using the 5x5 protocol.

Or, I might use 110-115% using a 3x3 protocol.

After that, I might test a true, new 1RM.

After this, I would drop back down to week 1's intensity and start over using my new RM.

If I had a dollar for every time someone said that to me... I'd be able to purchase you a lifestime supply of cucumber scented body oils. You know, for when you plan on taking pictures after your cut. HAHAHAAAAA!!!

I just wrote how I was sorry I didn't have the neccessary "extra parts" you two were looking for in a "lady." I mean, you and your best friend seem like really nice guys, but that's just kind of ... well... weird, you know? I don't have a problem with guys wanting to play "naked sword fighting," but honestly, you could really hurt yourself and I don't think I could just sit back and wait for the inevitable. You have my word, I'll leave you alone in yahoo from now on.
