Journey, Not A Destination

All of these made the list except the last, simply b/c I know he's a family man.
I'd imagine that skateboarding is a career that he loves... for his own children - i'd imagine a parent would want their kids to also find their passion and do what they love - but would he want his kids involved in professional sports/entertainment... What are the plusses and minuses of it..

what does he see himself doing next?

Hell yea! I didn't get to watch the game but I caught glimpses when I was at the gym.

Speaking of the gym... I trained a client to start which was so so, having trouble lighting a fire under this one's butt.

Then I went on to my own training which was good.

Sticking with light stuff it looked something like this:

Preacher Curls: 1 set @ 65 lbs x 8, 6, 5 RP
Reverse Cable Curls: 1 straight set @ 30 x 13
Seated Calves: 1 straight set @ 45 lbs x 10 with excruciatingly long eccentrics
Leg Curls: 1 set at 55 lbs x 14, 8, 6 RP
Squats: 185x6 followed by a widowmaker set of 135x20

That last bit was brutal I tell ya, they don't call it a widowmaker for nothing.

Excellent questions, thanks Mal!

I'm just watching all his Drive videos on youtube again. I've watched them all a dozen times over the years and I must say... he does those right. Taps into the soul.

Umm- that looks like it could render you childless :)

Well that was not the exercise I was doing. You can do a widowmaker set on most any exercise. I was doing it with barbell squats. I've never seen anyone do what the guy is doing.

YOU can't lighta fire? damn she must me worse than me :D

She's a he and I will. It's just a matter of finding the buttons. And pressing them correctly. I can see that hope is starting to come to light and that's usually when things take off.

Umm, are you sore all the time from lifting? Somehow I think you're going to say you recover in a day or so. 135 x 20 times squatting???? Holy Cow.

I am sore today but most people get sore whenever they do something new. And thanks for the congrats!

I like that last quote. It reminds me of that piece I wrote titled "The Walk."

So tonight I have a rehearsal dinner for a wedding I'm in tomorrow. I'm not too excited for it simply b/c I have to drive an hour away for a simple rehearsal at the hall and then drive an hour back for the dinner. Not cool. In rush hour traffic to boot.

Tomorrow we are supposedly going golfing before the wedding. I haven't received definitive word that we are actually going but it would nice, assuming the weather is good.

Today my legs are a bit sore from that widowmaker set. I feel really good though and my nutrition has been on point. I haven't stepped on the scale. Don't plan to for at least another week.

We haven't had a bad winter in years. I sincerely hope we have one this year. I'd like to get buried in in the new house. It's so peaceful and remote down there.

My best bud tells me we're going to get tons of snow. How he knows you ask?

Everything always goes his way. It's quite true too. I've known him since I was 2 and the dice always roll in his favor. It will probably catch up to him someday but you can't blame him for his luck. Anyhow, he recently started up a landscaping business on the side of an already lucrative career. He purchased a truck and a snow plow for the winter months. I told him he's silly, we don't get winters that need plows around here anymore. He explained how his purchase will change all of that.

I don't doubt it.

I wish I lead a charmed life like that - were i to buy a truck and snowplow -chicago would be in for a winter where the temps never dropped below 50 degrees...

My skill is that any day I am wearing a white shirt, no coat and no umbrella - you can be damned sure it will rain... :D

I'm with you. I'm usually not accompanied by luck. But I keep that in a healthy perspective. I'm lucky compared to many. But little things happen to me on a consistent basis that my former self would magnify and let consume my thoughts.

there's always someone worse off than you... that's one way of keeping things in perspective.. :D

the past is done - can't change it so no good comes from wallowing in it (and I really do believe that... despite appearances :D )

Though a little bit of luck would be nice once ina while -it gets tiresome having to work for everything... maybe a lottery number or two.. but I'm too damn cheap to buy a ticket :)

I'm on the exact same page...

But I do buy tickets occassionally. I started after my neighbor in college one a scratch off ticket winning 1000 bucks a week for life. I was happy for them since they were a poor family with problem children... but yea, it would have been nice to win that.
