Journey, Not A Destination

Machines are a fine intro to weight lifting. Over time, gradually work in some free weight movements but no rush. Get comfortable with this sort of training first.

You are well on your way.

Today was a ridiculously stressful day for a variety of reasons. It feels good to be laying in bed by 9 right now listening to the passing storm. :)

Today I jogged for 20 minutes. First time I did that in quite a while. Felt good. Think I'll be doing that twice per week, or so.

I'm pretty sore from yesterdays weight session. Feels good.

I just got done drinking a new flavor of whey; vanilla ice cream. It was yummy!

Yeah I can see the experienced lifters doing free weights.

I can also see there's a lot of lean people hanging out in the gym. I wanna be where the lean people are.

And its cheap, like only $35 a month if I sign up that way.

I am wondering if I will be back in to my smaller jeans a year from now. Do ya think?

Who knows... I can't answer that.

Only you can decide. But it's going to take a combined effort on the exercise front AND the nutrition front.

Consistency is key.

Peanut butter, I'm jealous. I can't have it in the house because I'm prone to get in to it in the middle of the night, bad habit, which I am breaking by taking a bottle of water to bed.

Steve I posted my workout in my diary.

am also counting calories and incorporating salmon and eggs into my vegetarian diet. Ate 1500 yesterday.

Wow, I'm excited and nervous. I just landed an interview with Mike Vallely, a professional skateboarder I've always admired. I'll be starting the interview soon and it will make the rounds in the blog eventually.

Oh, and most people know Mike b/c he was the bad boy of skateboarding. But I see him for so much more than that. My respect is for his outlook on life. His integrity and values. His honor.

He's a deep guy.

Here's a couple of clips of his:

That is totally cool...

and wil lmake for an interesting interview -can't wait to see what direction it will go in...

Well done for that score!

Yea, I have no idea how I'm going to go about it yet. I have some thoughts though. With Lyle, I was happy he gave me the time... but I pretty much knew what he was going to say.

With Mike V, it's different. I'm actually excited to communicate with him. I simply emailed him asking if I could put his quote in a chapter of my book. He was honored. From there emails continued and now this. I'm grateful beyond belief.

not that you need any ideas...

how he got into skateboarding - and that may be common knowledge but i'll play the dumb girl card..
What he does for crosstraining
Does he see himself as a rolemodel and does that change how he acts...
Does he get lots of girls :) groupies and such :)

What's the quote you want to put in your book?

Post 6838 (No I didnt have it memorized.. :D )

"Everyone has a story. And as I continue to write my own, I recognize that there are moments and events that will affect the direction my story may go. Some things we cannot control. Some moments we cannot take back. But how we react, how we recover, what we do with the cards we are dealt is what really matters. In the end, we must choose to push forward. Everyone has a story. They are what make us individual. And they are what connect us all."

I've been jotting down a list of questions I've been considering. All of these made the list except the last, simply b/c I know he's a family man. He's an old man in skateboard years.
