Journey, Not A Destination

Haha, Gordy was a free man up until recently. Now he's engaged. He informed me they might actually get married when they go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks.

awwww...

that's cute...

she's pretty and he's adorable so what a nice couple they'll make -and such adorable baby maleficents they'll have :)

He'd actually get married without you? :D

Ewww gross! :p

Great news on your site, and I'm so glad it's a lifestyle/hobby rather than "work" for you :)

Saturday I placed first for women on my mountain trail run, and got on the top 10 list as #9--but that night I had difficulty sleeping. It felt like my body was trying hard to repair torn muscle tissue, although that's probably impossible to "feel"--is it? Is it normal for people to toss and turn at night when their body undergoes severe strain? (I had to work at the winery right after, so I was on my feet for 6 hours, well, I managed a few breaks).

Congrats, that's great!

I'm not sure about the restlessness post-training. I've done some pretty intense stuff before and I've always slept like a baby afterwords.

Hell yea, I'm all for it. I hate how much weddings cost and told him if I had a choice, I'd definitely get married in Hawaii. The only thing he wants me around for is the winter traverse in NH.

We're talking about doing it for MS charity, btw.

Good boy doing it for a charity...

Is it too personal to ask the MS association?

Does krista know you're contemplating a second marriage? :D I think the destination thing is so much nicer for a wedding and much more personal too.. you can always have a party when you get back :D

I'm not sure yet. Gordy and I have been wanting to do something for MS for a while now but figured we'd wait until we had the business up and running. So we're jumping the gun a bit but that's fine. He called me last night and asked if I'd mind if we help a client of his out with her MS charity walk by raising money.

He figured we have a ton of contacts and we could also post something on our blog about it.

I wanted a destination. Krista wanted traditional. I ultimately didn't care all that much about the wedding day, at least relative to her, so we went traditional.

And had a blast too.

With the right mix of people any wedding is going to be beyond memorable regardless of location.

But I'm with you... destination is preferred.

Weird. It's happened to me before. Maybe it's a racing thing, I'll have to ask around--thanks anyway.

Very well could be. I'm definitely not as well versed in that as I am other things.

Though, my hikes, such as the one I went on earlier this year, are grueling in terms of endurance and muscle use... mind you you're carrying 60 lbs packs for multiple days across ridiculous terrain.

After them, I sleep really well too.

Let me know if you find anything out.

Good grief...

the market has mood swings.

I just wish the infernal media would stop reminding people that the FDIC insures bank accounts and people shouldn't consider taking their money out of the banks..

So last night was productive. We shot a lot of myfascial release videos with the roller (homemade mind you, if you want a cheap foam roller... go to home depot or lowes) and a tennis ball. We also shot conventional deadlifts, snatch grip deadlifts and speed deadlifts.

I can't wait to watch these...yes I still have not used my roller yet. It is in my bedroom staring right at me. I don't know what my problem is...I just have not grabbed that thing and worked it yet. LOL

I'm super excited about your biz...I know you are going to do fantastic. When you have the passion and drive for what you do, you can't help but be successful at it.

I met Dean Karnazes last Thursday at a book signing at REI. You have probably heard of him. Anyway, he reminded me a lot of you. He had his regular 9-5 job that paid the bills but his passion was running...and a lot of it. He now has turned that passion into his career and he was glowing and so full of life when I met him. I truly was taken back by this man...he is part crazy...but he is also is incredibly inspiring just like you. When he walked through the crowd to exit the small conference room he squeezed my shoulder and smiled at me. I was the only person he did this to...I guess he felt me "feeling" his life story. :) I don't mean that in a perverted way. It was a mutual respect if that makes sense.

Anywho, I'm totally rambling. Can't wait to hear more about your business. I'm a Steve supporter 100%!!

Today has been quite the wild ride, that's for damn sure. The media is good for nothing but scaring people.

This is even better...

Thanks a ton Melissa! :) It means a lot. And yup, I know of Dean... quite the man.

Steve Karnazes, isn't he that ultra marathoner? I think I read a book by him.

Steve, I am so glad you stopped by my diary today. I am really getting back in to a good groove and, dare I say it, I know I will see results if I just hang in there. I know one thing. Exercise Rocks, and also lately I'm aware that every time I'm happy its a good thing for my health and brain, in particular, maybe with the circuits in my brain.

I was really impressed by your description of what's going on in your life right now.

Talk to you later. I am eager to start logging my efforts at the gym. Like the serious lifters do. Yeh, I'm one of them now. It was a real breakthrough for me as you know I was reluctant to do strength training. Now I want to major in it.

Kelly, I'm very glad to hear you have yourself on track with your fitness... I look forward to hearing about your progress. :)

Quotes and Randomness

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts.

So late yesterday afternoon while the markets were spiraling downward, I was approved for my mortgage. The approval was accompanied by a large sigh of relief. Now it's a matter of deciding when I want to lock in my interest rate. I have a feeling they're going to come down nicely today and tomorrow... so I'll have to play it by ear.

After the relieving news I hit the gym up for my new routine. I unfortunately did not have my training partner which was unfortunate given the fact that you really do need a spotter for this routine.

It looks something like this out of memory (mind you, I was going very light on everything for a few reasons):

Bench Press: 185x10, 5, 3 RP
Arnolds: 50x10, 4, 3 RP
Close Grip Bench: 135x10, 5, 4 RP
Pullups (no additional weight): x10, 5, 5 RP
Deadlifts: 185x6, 135x15

RP = Rest Pause

All eccentrics were eccentuated for an approximate count of 4 seconds

I did do some loaded stretches which are beyond painful.

Today I feel really good. My elbows are a bit sore which I'm going to have to keep my eyes on. I spent a large chunk of time last night doing rehab work, which included:

wall slides, YTLWs, myofascial release (especially on delts, Bis and Tris), scap pushups, and some static stretching. I feel better today.

Oh yea, and the first installment of the Lyle McDonald interview is up on the blog. :)

For those of you who know Lyle or follow his stuff, this first section won't be too exciting. It's merely a long introduction to who he is and what he does.

Thanks Mal. I'm not 100% happy with the interview but I have high expectations. I'm happy though considering it's my first time ever blogging so...

I sound like a broken record when i say this and it's generally not directed at you and web development or content development... :D

You have to start somewhere.. get your feet wet and just do it -and things will improve over time.. No one is perfect coming out of the gate.. but by starting you're further along than most people.

But you knew that..

but I'll still pep talk :)

Thanks, and I do know this.

I have high expectations. At the same time, I manage them well thankfully. It was a risk interviewing Lyle first. He's a big interview. And I'm just learning how I want to conduct myself in such things (blogs, interviews, etc).

So I could have waited until I was better to conduct such a big interview.

Or start with a bang.

I like risks so I just went with it.
